ENABLING PARENTAL CONTROLS USING SCREEN TIME ON APPLE DEVICES (from support.apple.com) TURN ON SCREEN TIME 1. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Screen Time. 2. Tap Turn On Screen Time. 3. Tap Continue. 4. Select This is My [device] or This is My Child's [device]. You can now get a report about how you use your device, apps, and websites, any time you want. If it's your child's device, you can set up Screen Time and create settings right on their device or you can use Family Sharing to configure your child’s device from your own device. After you set up your child’s device, you can also use Family Sharing to view reports and adjust settings any time, right from your own device. With Screen Time you can also create a dedicated passcode to secure settings, so only you can extend time or make changes. Make sure to choose a passcode that's different from the passcode you use to unlock your device. To change or turn off the passcode on your child's device, tap Settings > Screen Time > [your child's name]. Then tap Change Screen Time Passcode or Turn Off Screen Time Passcode, and authenticate the change with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. VIEW REPORTS AND SET LIMITS Screen Time gives you a detailed report about how your device is used, apps you've opened, and websites you've visited, any time that you want to see it. Just go to Settings > Screen Time and tap the graph. There, you can see your usage, set limits for your Most Used apps, and see how many times a device was picked up or received a notification. If you turned on Share Across Devices, you can view overall usage across devices that are signed in with your Apple ID and password. WWW.MJFISHERGROUP.COM UPDATED 1/2019 SET UP FAMILY SHARING Family Sharing makes it easy for up to six people in your family to share iTunes, Apple Books, and App Store purchases, an Apple Music family subscription, and an iCloud storage plan, without sharing accounts. When the family organizer turns on purchase sharing, you can pay for family purchases with the same credit card and approve kids’ spending right from a parent’s device. Family Sharing also lets you share photos, a family calendar, and more to help keep everyone connected. STARTING A FAMILY GROUP One adult in the family—the family organizer—can set up Family Sharing for the group from their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. If you turn on purchase sharing, you'll be asked to confirm that you agree to pay for purchases initiated by the family members you invite and that you have a valid payment method on file. 1. TURN ON ASK TO BUY With Ask to Buy and Family Sharing, whenever a child initiates a new purchase or free download, a request goes to the family organizer. The organizer can review the item and approve the purchase or decline the request right from their own iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. For example, this could be a request for items in the iTunes, Apple Books, or App Store, In-App Purchases, or iCloud storage. If the family organizer approves the purchase, the content downloads automatically to their family member’s device. If they decline, no purchase or download will take place. The family organizer can turn on Ask to Buy for any family member who isn't an adult. It's on by default for any children under 13, and you'll be asked to set up Ask to Buy when inviting anyone under 18 to your family group.* WWW.MJFISHERGROUP.COM UPDATED 1/2019 Use these steps to turn Ask to Buy on or off for family members who are under 18* in your family group. If you decline the request or don't make the purchase, it will be deleted after 24 hours, and the child will need to make the request again.
