The perception of time has shifted for many people due to COVID-19 pandemic. The concept seems paradoxical where time eludes or stagnates even though it is not a material object that we can physically grasp, and yet, we commonly say Finding Rhythm Amidst Disruption: that ‘time is slipping past our fingers.’ Additionally, this pandemic has brought challenges with an unexpected translation of time: how soon or late our town Reconnecting through Cultural is infected, how many days we haven’t seen a friend, or how many minutes we have “zoom”ed throughout the day. ABSTRACT The Prakriti (genetic constitution) and Kala (season) are extra ordinarily related with each other from the origin of a Prakriti due to many common and mutual factors. Naturally the effect of Kala on the Prakriti is unavoidable. The off springs from the conjugation of same Sukra (sperm) and Shonita (ovum) are not alike by Prakriti, because the time of conception or fertilization of the ovum might be different. The prominent Doshas during the time of conception has got definite role in the formation of Prakriti during conception, as well as after birth also. If the time predominates the Vata dosha, there must be certain qualities of Vata Dosha, even though the conjugating Sukra and Shonita may be of different Dosha. In such cases the chances of mixed Prakriti is more. The Charakacharya said that, a chance of Sama prakriti find is very difficult or rare.

  • Oxfam Briefing Paper
OXFAM RESEARCH What Happened to the Seasons? REPORT Dr. Steve Jennings Oxfam GB John Magrath Oxfam GB 29 Abstract The timing of rain, and intra-seasonal rainfall patterns are critical to smallholder farmers in developing countries. Seasonality influences farmers’ decisions about when to cultivate and sow and harvest. It ultimately contributes to the success or failure of their crops. Worryingly, therefore, farmers are reporting that both the timing of rainy seasons and the pattern of rains within seasons are changing. These perceptions of change are striking in that they are geographically widespread and because the changes are described in remarkably consistent terms. In this paper, we relate the perceptions of farmers from several regions (East Asia, South Asia, Southern and East Africa, and Latin America) of how seasons are changing, and in some cases, how once distinct seasons appear to be disappearing altogether, and the impacts that these changes are having. We then go on to ask two critical questions. Firstly, do meteorological observations support farmers' perceptions of changing seasonality? Secondly, to what extent are these changes consistent with predictions from climate models? We conclude that changing seasonality may be one of the major impacts of climate change faced by smallholder farmers in developing countries over the next few decades. Indeed, this may already be the case. Yet it is relatively unexplored in the literature. We also suggest some of the key adaptation responses that might help farmers cope with these changes. What Happened to the Seasons?, Oxfam GB Research Report, October 2009 1 Introduction and sources Over the last three years, the issue of climate change and its impacts have risen rapidly up Oxfam’s agenda as a result of field observations in a number of countries, along with the rise to prominence of climate change as a global political and media concern.

For the promotion of health and prevention of disease seasonal regimen has been described in Ayurveda. Margasirsa (15 Nov.-15 Dec.) and Pausa (15 Dec. - 15 Jan.) months comes under the Hemanta season. Aim of this paper was to explain the Ayurvedic seasonal regimen described for the Hemanta season on basis of modern concepts. Seasonal regimen described in Ayurveda helps to nullify the effects of season. During the Hemanta season cold temperature stimulates the shivering and non-shivering type of thermogenesis in the body. These physiological changes increase the metabolic activities in the body which possibly is the reason of increased digestive power of the body. Ayurvedic scholars were aware with the physiological changes which occur due to the seasonal variations. Seasonal physiological changes and cold adaptations have been scientifically evaluated by various researchers. The review of above Hemanta seasonal regimen indicates that Ayurvedic seasonal regimen have sound scientific base and these scientific validations could justify their incorporation into modern health system.
