Prime Minister to Release a Book on First Year of Shri Venkaiah Naidu As Vice President of India Prime Minister to release a book on first year of Shri Venkaiah Naidu as Vice President of India The book ‘Moving on…Moving Forward’ describes his mission in new role and that of the country Quoting from Rigveda, Shri Naidu urges fellow citizens to moved forward with persistence like the bees, the Sun and the Moon towards a new India With 465 illustrations, the book brings out Shri Naidu’s year long cross country engagements to shape public discourse on four key issues Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will release a book on Sunday, September 2, 2018, on the first year of Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu as Vice President of India and Chairman of Rajya Sabha. The 245 page book with seven chapters titled ‘MOVING ON…MOVING FORWARD: A YEAR IN OFFICE’ with 465 illustrations brings out Shri Naidu’s mission of engagement on four key issues with various stakeholders across the country and it’s alignment with the mission of a new India in the making. Setting the context of his journey in a new role as the Vice President, Shri Naidu in an article in the book quotes from Rigveda: “May we unswervingly follow the path of the Sun and the Moon; Look at the bees move constantly to gather honey from the flowers; Look at the indefatigable Sun shining so bright and constantly on the move without having a wink of sleep; You must always keep moving, always keep moving”. Shri Naidu further elaborates on this in a chapter ‘Retired from politics but not from public life’. Shri Naidu says in the book that his mission of exploring and shaping public discourse over four key issues took him on extensive travels across the country since he was sworn in as Vice President on August 11 last year. He identifies these core issues as; Unrealised demographic dividend, Need for an effective ecosystem for farmers to thrive and bridge the rural – urban divide, Orienting scientific advancements to better the life of the people and Enhancing public awareness about the rich Indian heritage and inculcating national pride in the country’s pluralistic, inclusive, harmonious world view. Shri Naidu records in the book his excitement over his new role; “I have assumed the office of the Vice President at what seems like an interesting moment in the country’s history. It is indeed a time of daunting challenges and a time of limitless opportunities. It is a time when the country is moving forward and I feel privileged to be in this position to serve the country and it’s people in a new role. It is a moment when the resolute political will to transform the country is finding resonance with the people…Clearly, there are many more miles to go. We must, as a nation, move on. We must move forward with persistence”. Referring to his role as the Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Shri Naidu says his dream was to facilitate meaningful debates in which members express their learned and considered views. The Chairman records his disappointment over the first two sessions of the House he presided but notes with optimism the new tidings witnessed during the monsoon session that concluded earlier this month. The book also has a detailed chapter on various initiatives taken by Shri Naidu as Chairman of Rajya Sabha and refers to the rapidly expanding viewership of RSTV. Briefly recounting his early exposure to nationalist ideas and political initiation, Shri Naidu pays gratitude to late Shri Bhogadi Durga Prasad and late Shri Sompally Somaiah, RSS Pracharaks with whom he came in contact when he was 14 year old and to leaders like Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Shri L.K.Advani, Shri Jai Prakash Narain etc. Former Prime Ministers Shri Deve Gowda and Dr.Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Smt.Sumitra Mahajan, Union Ministers Shri Arun Jaitely and Shri Anant Kukmar and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad will be present at the book release on Sunday. September 1, 2018 .
