What do , Julia Roberts and Jason Derulo all have in common? Wax.

On May 19, an exciting Thursday evening, another phenomenal artist was added to a vast collection of stars. After selling over 55 million singles worldwide, accumulating eleven Top 10 singles, and achieving many more accomplishments, Jason Derulo’s rise to fame was finally solidified. The result of 6 months, over 200 measurements and around 20 hours of work paid off when Derulo’s intricate wax figure was unveiled at Hollywood.

“3, 2, 1”, everyone cheered as the velvet curtain fell, exposing Jason’s incredible wax look-alike. So You Think You Can Dance judge said, “I’m seeing it for the first time as well, so I was actually revealing it to myself when I pressed the red button.”

Derulo happily snapped hundreds of photos with his new wax twin. This included a live re-creation of his daring jumping pose that mirrored his wax image, and of course a few look-alike selfies for his Snapchat.

When asked about his unique pose, Derulo answered, “The team wanted me to pick some representative of who I am. This actual pose is something that I do in my show quite often. I showed them a picture of this move and they were like ‘Yes, this is it!’”

Colin Thomas, the General Manager at Madame Tussauds Hollywood, spoke about modeling this new wax figure, “Jason’s figure is our most dynamic yet! It made for a very interesting sitting, which took almost three hours. We had to ask Jason to recreate one of his signature dance moves numerous times to ensure a perfect recreation.”

Derulo’s wax figure, dressed in a black tank top, black Golden Denim jeans donated personally by Jason and red Nike Airforce One sneakers, is worth about $350,000. Already deemed one of the most dynamic wax figures yet, the Trumpets singer was proud to be one of the only two wax figures in the museum that had been mounted.

Before the post-unveiling celebrations began, Jason had a few special guests from Merlin’s Magic Wand, a charity for children with disabilities, join him at the front of the room. The kids enjoyed not only Derulo himself, but they were also in awe of his amazing new wax figure.

Everyone slowly made their way out to the terrace, which was complete with twinkle- lights, drinks and hors d'oeuvre. Guests dotted the roof chatting and listening to the DJ, waiting for Jason to arrive.

Finally, Derulo appeared behind the microphone and drew the whole party to the stage. Jason put on an electric rooftop concert, where he preformed older songs like “Talk Dirty” in addition to his newer music like his current hit song, “If It Ain’t Love”. His band and his choreographed back-up dancers flew around on stage effortlessly, showcasing Jason’s talent. The crowd was relishing every minute of it and was not afraid to show it, they danced and sang along to every song no matter their age or where they stood in the audience. After Jason closed the night with his action-packed mini-concert, the guests were invited back into Madame Tussauds Hollywood to look around every level of the museum.

“This place is a staple in Hollywood. When you’re walking or driving down Hollywood Boulevard, this is one of the places you have to come. It’s literally a legendary place, so to be a part of that family is such a blessing.” Derulo concluded about being immortalized in wax.

Watching Jason Derulo, who started as a songwriter, rise to fame with such determination and passion has been altogether inspiring. However, actually being there for one of the biggest moments in his career was incredible.
