Revitalizing our

Marital Love

Description: Our world is filled to the brim with complexity, distraction, stress, miscommunication, misunderstanding, and an abundance of technology to enable it all. These external forces charge at our marriages every day and seek to distract us from the unbreakable bond of love that God prepared for us in our marriage. Set aside the distractions and come and rest in the basics of pure marital love. In the Gospel of Mark, it is recorded that when the Pharisees approached Jesus to ask him about marriage, our Lord took them to the beginning; “God made them male and female. For this reason, a man shall leave his father and mother [and be joined to Presenters: his wife], and the two shall become one flesh.’ So, Left to Right: they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what Tim and Lisa Noca, Jenny and Eric Collier God has joined together, no human being must separate.” We will ask the Holy Spirit to reset us ‘from the beginning’ and grow in appreciation of the enormous gift He has given us in our marriage.

Description: Love. That elusive, romantic, desirable state of being that seems to promise an extraordinary level of hope and happiness. We long to give it and to receive it, yet find it fleeting, challenging, unpredictable, and at times painful. Yet somehow, LOVE is the key to our salvation. There’s a simple and profound message in the Gospel of John that illuminates the secret of successful holiness and it’s tied up in the simple request to abide in the love of Christ. How is such a thing accomplished? The answer might be simpler than you think and a delightful challenge to undertake that will place you on the Presenter: fast-track to discipleship from which you’ll never want to turn back. This Mary French evening workshop will help us to abide in the love of Christ.

Father Curtis Kiddy, C.P.

Father Curtis is the newest member of the St. Paul of the Cross Province, professing his vows on the feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, September 15, 2018. Curtis served as pastor in an Afro- Caribbean parish in Miami Gardens, FL and also served as pastor of a multilingual parish and school in Fort Lauderdale.

Healing Painful Memories

Each of us has memories and life experiences that have wounded us through the years. The hurts we experience often cause lingering fear, anger, grief, guilt and depression which weaken a person’s confidence and self-love. Inner healing/healing of painful memories uncovers the wounds locked in one’s past which prevent a person from being more peaceful, free and happy.

This workshop explains how forgiveness is an important tool to bring peace of mind and heart to troubled souls. Forgiveness is an act of the will, not a feeling. When we choose to give unconditional forgiveness we allow God to bring closure to our troubled memories. The workshop includes a guided meditation using what Presenter: is called faith imagination. St. John Capistran and St. Men’s Retreat January, 2019 Forgiveness and Healing Happen Through Love

The presentation will focus on how one forgives a person, or a group of people who have hurt us through their actions or lack of actions. May I suggest that we look at God’s forgiveness of His people, looking at the ways God has acted in Salvation history as the model or map that we should use as we seek to find forgiveness. One then is capable of healing and forgiveness as we look at the offender, or trespasser, through or with the eyes of love.

I wish to invite you to join us for this special evening which focuses Presenter: on our capacity to forgive and experience healing. Fr. Curtis Kiddy, C.P.

Preparing for the Three Comings of Christ

Description: This day of recollection will allow participants the opportunity to reflect upon the three comings of Christ. In the first coming, Christ was born in our flesh and in our weakness for our redemption. In the final coming, he will be seen in glory and majesty. While the first and the final coming are the subject of much reflection by the Church, St. (1090– 1153) also writes about a middle coming, where Christ comes in spirit and in power to be our rest and consolation. Special emphasis will be placed on this "middle" coming in preparation for the season of Advent.

Registration begins at 9:30 AM. The program includes Presenter: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction, Fr. Alek Schrenk Opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and Conferences. The program concludes with the Celebration of the Eucharist. "The Greatest Yes"

The same "Yes" echos in the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and should echo in our hearts today! This day of recollection will look at the awe inspiring “Yes” of God and how we can allow that “Yes” to echo in our hearts just as it did in Jesus and Mary!

Description: Advent reminds us how we were saved once—and will be saved again and again and again. Jesus wants to come into our lives, take on human skin and heal whatever it is that holds us back from being fully ourselves, fully God’s. We often miss the power of the season of Advent because the weeks in December are full of secular Christmas parties and preparations for Christmas. It is easy to let the busyness of this season distract us from having a meaningful Advent season. This quite day of reflection is meant to prepare us for the celebration of Christmas, with all its meaning.

Beatitudes: Eight Steps to Happiness

by Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, O.F.M. Cap. Servant Books, 2009

From the time we were little, we were taught to be kind and loving toward everyone. The greatest commandment is to love God with all our strength, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. (Mark 12:30-31) The more we think, speak and act like Jesus and the saints, the more holy we will become. We remember key scriptures like: “Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matt. 5:48 "Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: 'Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.’” Leviticus 19:2

Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, OFM Cap., a former Church history professor, is preacher of the Papal household and author of many books. In this book on the beatitudes he explains the exalted state of blessedness that Jesus proclaimed in the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5:3-12. “The beatitudes are not an outdated legal code… but a source of perennial inspiration because the one who proclaimed them is risen and alive.” Jesus shares his deep convictions with us about what truly makes us blessed or happy in the sight of God. These 8 steps are a blueprint to holiness. The author describes each beatitude in its historical context, and applies them to our modern world. Each has a promise attached to it that will be fulfilled here and hereafter.

All Christians can attest that the beatitudes are most holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and difficult to live out, and many in the world would see proper worship. I found the book easy to read and full of insights for kingdom living. The text lends itself to quiet reflection of scripture passages and offers practical examples from daily life. In the appendix Fr. Cantalamessa provides an examination of conscience based on the beatitudes. A thoughtful reading of the book reveals deep insights into the mind and heart of Jesus, the model of holiness.
