“Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.” Well, Amy Poehler, I couldn’t have said it better myself. Each June, we come together to celebrate film, finance and philanthropy with a world-class film festival. But the truth is, it takes countless hours and months of work to pull off a film festival that entertains, educates, inspires and gives back. As Executive Director of the Greenwich International Film Festival, I have the distinct pleasure of working with an incredibly talented team, a supportive Board, and patrons, enthusiastic host committees, dedicated volunteers and student interns, gifted filmmakers, panelists, jurors and performers, and amazing sponsors and community partners.

During the 2018 Festival, I encourage you to take advantage of all that we have to offer. Get to know our team by spending time at the Box Office, which is open from May 7th through June 3rd at 55 Arch Street in Greenwich. One of our sponsors, Lillian August, created a beautiful lounge space for people to gather and learn about our program, purchase tickets, and connect over film. Draw inspiration from our films, and take note of which ones include a Q&A. Part of what we do at GIFF is to offer our audience the chance to meet the filmmakers, ask them about their work, and draw a greater understanding of the films. Cinema is social – continue the conversations from films and panels at receptions such as theWomen at the Helm Reception at Tesla, the 1985 Film Reception at Theory, and the VIP & Filmmaker After Party at JHouse. Celebrate with the filmmakers at Opening Night Party, which features our film awards and a special performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill. Learn about our charity partners at the Changemaker Gala. Explore the beautiful Town of Greenwich and visit the businesses and venue partners that support GIFF. You can find them on our website or on the Festival map. Most importantly, enjoy your time at GIFF!

Thank you for being a part of the 2018 Greenwich International Film Festival.

Funding from major Hollywood studios used to be the only way to get a film made and widely distributed, however, in the past couple of years, methods of film distribution have rapidly changed. With the widening of the independent film market, filmmakers have many more avenues to get their projects in front of an audience. How has this change in distribution affected the film industry and the future of filmmaking? Please join us for an enlightening discussion featuring filmmaker Rob Burnett (Writer, Director), Andrew Karpen (CEO, Bleecker Street) and Adrienne Becker, (CEO, Level Forward/Co-Founder, Killer Content)
