Dear Parishioners, St. Alexander school is blessed with a great principal, administration, faculty, and staff. We have openings in most grade levels so please spread the message of the wonderful education we provide to those who are looking for a faith based education. We are also blessed with a great Religious Educa- tion Program and have openings at all grade levels. Registration is currently taking place for both school and religious education. Monday, August 23rd begins the 2021-2022 school year here at St. Alexander Parish. St. Alexander School is truly a great institution having achieved Blue Ribbon status. Please keep our principal, staff, teachers, volunteers, and students in your prayers and ask God’s blessings for another successful year. Not all Catholic parishes have their own school. We should be proud we are able to continue to sup- port our own independent grammar school which passes on our great Catholic traditions along with a great education. If you or anyone you know is searching for a pre-school or grade school, please call St. Alexander School at 708-448-0408 for more information. You cannot beat a Catholic grammar school education! Contact your school’s Student Services Department for information. In several weeks, our parish Religious Education Program for the 2021-2022 school year will begin. We are in need of new catechists to teach our R.E. students in the Catholic faith and help sev- eral grades prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion, and Confirmation. I ask everyone to please consider becoming a catechist in our program. If you feel you are not qualified, don’t worry, we will train you. Being a catechist is a great way to share your faith with the youth of our parish who are the future of the Roman Catholic Church. As we look at our calendars today we realize that the summer vacation season for families is soon coming to an end. Let us make sure that we all enjoy these next several weeks relaxing, spending time with family and friends, and enjoying God’s gift of life. We as Americans sometimes feel guilty when we’re not working or not being constructive with our time. As we recall in the Gospel several weeks ago, our Lord Jesus Christ told his apostles as they returned from ministering to different communi- ties to follow Him to an isolated place and rest awhile. Jesus knew the importance of taking time to recharge and to enjoy the gifts of nature and the people around us. Being on the go twenty-four hours a day can make us irritable and down right tired. We are more productive as a people when we take time to rest and enjoy life. Follow the advice of Jesus and give yourself a break and get some rest. God Bless, Father Marty

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a process to help anyone who is considering a conversion to the Catholic faith to learn about the beautiful truths and theology of the Roman Catholic Church. The RCIA is for those never baptized, for those baptized in another Christian faith, those who were baptized Catholic but did not receive either First Communion and or the Sacrament of Con irmation, or for anyone who has the desire to learn more about our faith and what we believe as Catholics. The process culminates on Holy Saturday at the Easter Vigil Mass when participants will receive the Sacraments. Our sessions are held on Sunday morning at 8:30 and last about 50 minutes. This allows for those who wish to attend the 7:30 Mass or the 9:30 Mass to celebrate at their chosen and preferred time. There is no cost to you, all materials will be supplied. The sessions will begin October 10th. We will be starting mid-September and running through April. All grades, first through eighth, will be on either Monday (5:30-7:00 ) or Tuesday (4:30- 6:00 ) nights. Religious Ed will be in person this year and follow the COVID-19 protocols as directed by the Archdiocese. St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Orland Park The thrift store, located at 7010 West 159th Street features gently used clothing, shoes, houseware, furniture, and much more.
