In August 2008, at the same time as Hick- stead (Hamlet x Ekstein) was winning the Individual Gold Medal and Team Silver Medal at the Olympics in Hong Kong, our very special stallion Ekstein passed on.

We very lucky to have owned Ekstein and our stables are a lot quieter with him gone. But he left behind in the Netherlands and Ireland the legacy of his gelding son Joel, which represented the Netherlands in the 2004 Olympics (Team 4th place); his grandson Hickstead, Olympic Champion and the #1-ranked showjumper in the Boy Toy M2S world in 2008 and the #2-ranked showjumper in 2007; dozens of progeny that competed in international showjumping, The licensed Ekstein including our own stallion Ulysses M2S sons Boy Toy M2S and (Ekstein x Voltaire); and a wonderful band Ballistic M2S join our of daughters and grand-daughters for our 2009 breeding program. breeding program.

Ballistic M2S Ekstein bequeathed us two more special gifts before he left: the newly-licensed stallions Boy Toy M2S (Ekstein x Limmer- ick x Nimmerdor) and Ballistic M2S (Ekstein x Condios x Cor de la Bryere). We believe these two young stallions have the genetics and athleticism to pick up the torch, along with Ulysses M2S, that Ekstein carried so brilliantly throughout his career. We will be putting many of our own mares in foal to Boy Toy M2S and Ballistic M2S this year and we invite you to join us.

Live Foal Guarantee

Morningside Stud’s “Live Foal Guarantee” (LFG) means that we will provide semen until a live and healthy foal stands and nurses for seven days. If a foal dies within 7 days of birth, as certified by a signed statement from a veterinary surgeon who attended to the foal, we will provide semen without charge (except for shipping and related costs of transporting semen) until another foal is born.

The Warmblood Studbook of Ireland (WSI) was approved by the Irish Minister of Agriculture on 18 March 2008. WSI’s mission is to help breeders produce international showjumpers to the highest international standard. All Morningside Stud stallions are Approved or Licensed by the WSI. Terms & Conditions

1. These terms and conditions apply to Morningside Stud and our customers during the 2008 breeding season (1 January 2009 - 31 July 2009).

2. If because of illness, injury, death or competition schedule a stallion and/ or his semen becomes unavailable the mare owner may request semen from another stallion. We will not charge the mare owner any difference in stud fee even if a more expensive stallion is selected and likewise the mare owner is not entitled to a partial refund if a stallion is selected with a lower stud fee.

3. Accommodation is provided at the risk of the mare owner. We accept no liability or responsibility for illness, death, theft, or injury to mares and foals and visitors to the stud farm and our owned or leased land.

4. Please order semen in a timely manner. We are not liable for delays or errors caused by transporters.

5. Only veterinarians, insemination technicians, and qualified inseminators are authorized to perform inseminations with semen from our stallions.

6. For sick or injured mares and foals a veterinarian may be called in at the mare owner’s expense if deemed necessary by Morningside Stud. The mare owner will be invoiced directly by Morningside Stud and payment is due upon receipt of the invoice.

7. Semen transport boxes that originate at Morningside Stud must be returned within 5 days or €40 will be charged to the mare owner. Semen transport boxes that originate in Germany must be returned to the origi- nating EU station within 7 days or €50 will be charged.

8. Chilled semen from Wang Chung M2S shipped from the EU–approved breeding station in Germany will incur the €150 charge for shipping and EU health papers. Morningside Stud reserves the right to add a surcharge if deemed necessary to cover the costs of shipping to more expensive lo- cations.

9. Payment for transported semen and shipping is due in advance. Payment may be made in cash, cheque or electronic transfer (see 10. below). Payment for visiting mares is due on the day of departure. Morningside Stud’s VAT number is IE8190356C.
