While training at the Olympic Oval in Calgary and seeing Olympians such as Clara Hughes and Cindy Klassen training in their Canada gear, she decided she wanted to wear the Maple Leaf at a high level. Forced to retire from Skating due to an injury, she turned to Cycling and in three short years has already made an impact. In her Olympic debut in Rio 2016, Kirsti contributed to Canada’s Bronze Medal in Team Pursuit, setting a national record alongside Allison Beveridge, Jasmin Glaesser, Georgia Simmerling and Laura Brown. Kirsti has also enjoyed some success on the road, claiming the Queen of the Mountain title at the 2015 Tour of California, as well as racing in the 2017 Road World Championships in Norway. Apart from sport, Kirsti has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Haskayne (Accounting major), graduating with distinction.
