(Civil) No.1/2020 In Re: Contagion of COVID J19 Virus in prisons, the Vcases of inmates of the Sub Jail, Cuddalore held under judicial custody in crimes arising out of the jurisdiction of this Court, were taken up for grant of bail. The learned Public Prosecutor was also present. Heard him with regard to objections, if any. Considering the urgent need and necessity to ensure social distancing and there by reducing the scope of infection, it is essential that the prisons are decongested as much as possible. S2 1Department of Earth Sciences, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram 2Department of Earth Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman ______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT Ground water samples collected from different localities in and around Paravanar River sub basin, Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu were analyzed for their physico- chemical characteristics. This analysis result was compared with the WHO standards of drinking water quality parameters with the following water quality parameters namely pH , Electrical conductivity, calcium, magnesium, alkalies, chloride, bicarbonate and sulfate equivalents , total dissolved solids and total hardness, etc., The usefulness of these parameters in predicting ground water quality characteristics were discussed. Hydrogeochemical facies of groundwater of study area reveals fresh to brackish and alkaline in nature.Piper plot shows that most of the groundwater samples fall in the mixed field of Ca-Mg-Cl type. From the plot, alkaline earths (Ca and Mg) significantly exceed the alkalis (Na and K) and strong acids (Cl) and (SO 4) exceed the weak acids (HCO 3) and (CO 3). The physical and chemical parameters of the Paravanar River Basins results shows that all the samples are under recommended limit for industrial purposes.     CUDDALORE DISTRICT DISASTER MANAGEMENT PLAN 2017 1 INTRODUCTION The Cuddalore District Disaster Management Plan for year 2017 is a key for managing disaster related activities and a guidance for emergency management. The information available in DDMP is valuable in terms of its use during disaster. Based on the instructions pertaining to the Sendai Framework Project for Disaster Risk Reduction and on the guidelines of National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) formulated by the Central Government and on analysis of history of various disasters that had occurred in this district, this plan has been designed as an action plan rather than a resource book. Utmost attention has been paid to make this Plan Book handy, precise and accurate. During the time of disaster, there may be a delay before outside help arrives. Hence, self-help and assistance from local group is essential in carrying out immediate relief operations. Also, reach to the needy targeted people depends on a prepared community which is alert and informed. Efforts have been made to collect and develop this plan to make it more applicable and effective to handle any type of disaster. Details of inventory resources are given importance in the plan so that during disaster their optimum use can be derived. The important rescue shelters, most necessary equipments, skilled manpower and critical supplies are included in the inventory resources block-wise. Role and responsibility of all departments have been included and the details of control room of various departments, ambulances, blood banks, public health centers, government and private hospitals have been included in this plan.
