Food Pantry Services

Eviction Prevention and Housing Assistance Services (cont.)

 City of New York The city of New York offers the following services, all of which can be access through calling 311: o Homeless Prevention Services- If you are at risk of becoming homeless, New York City may be able to help find housing. o Grants for Families with Rental Arrears-Through the NYC Human Resources Administration (HRA), tenants who have legal possession of an apartment or applicants who have been evicted but whose landlords are willing to re-rent the apartment to them, and owe back rent, may qualify for assistance grants. o Tenant Advocacy-All buildings are required by law to maintain apartments in safe, livable conditions and to provide heat from October1-May 31 along with hot water year round. If your landlord is failing to meet these requirements, report the issue to NYC. o New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)-NYCHA may have open available units for Housing Choice Voucher Participants.
