Minutes of COVID 19 Response Meeting, Aden - Yemen Date: 10th March 2021 Time: 10:00AM Venue: Primary Health Care Office, Mansura Organization and Clusters Present Organization and Clusters Absent - MOPHP(Surveillance) - UNHCR - WASH Cluster - WHO(Chair) - ADRA - TYF - Health Cluster - IRC - Samaritan Purse - Human Access - KS Relief - MSF – France - NYCM - OCHA - SCI - ADD - ICRC - OXFAM - UNDP - IMC - IMC - UNICEF - MSFB - DEEM - UK-Med - Medair - FMF - UNOPS - IDIF - YFCA - SFCG - INTERSOS - UNFPA - IOM Agenda: - Global and Regional Update - Yemen Epi Situation Update - Lab pillar updates (TBC) - RCCE pillar update - ICRC/MoPHP update - AOB Agenda Action Points 1 Regional and global update: as 7th March 2021 - Globally more than 116M case of COVID 19 with 2,581,976 associated deaths (CFR 2.2%) - Globally, in last 7 days 2,703,221 cases reported with 59,786 associated death - Week (1-7 March) 0.48 % increase compared to previous week - Most affected regions are Americas and Europe - Week (1-7 March) 6.8 % decrease compared to previous week - In the EMRO region, 6,629, 945 cases reported with 147, 423 deaths (CFR 2.2%) For more detailed information please find in PowerPoint presentation 2 Yemen Epi Situation Update: - MoPHP to follow with the surveillance The MoPHP surveillance team provided, a comprehensive presentation on the COVID situation in unite regarding the suitable the Southern governorates: procedures to request the required quantity of swabs - In 2021 – a total of 801 suspected cases were reported in which 419 cases were - Case management and surveillance confirmed positive with 42 deaths pillars to give update about the bed - Last week (Epi week 7), 201 suspected cases were reported across the country in which occupancy on next meeting 190 cases were confirmed with 8 associated deaths - Most affected governorate is Sayoon, Al-Mukalla and Aden - Lab Positivity rate = 34.34% - The surveillance team also highlighted the following challenges: No Swab Traveler's positive cases are not isolated. Most cases are without any symptoms, and these people also refuse to deal with Surveillance team. (majority of them from northern Governorates) Failure to receive test results from Shabwah and others CPHL Lab results not sharing with Governorates - WHO inform that there are available swabs in WHO warehouse and asked MoPHP to request for swabs officially with all the suitable procedures - In order to increasing COVID 19 cases, the capacity of isolation centers including bed occupancy was discussed with MOPHP and it was agreed to give clear view regarding the bed occupancy by case management pillar with coordination of surveillance pillar For more information please find in the attached presentation 3 SARS-CoV-2 Seroprevalence- Aden, Yemen 2021: - SARS-CoV-2 Seroprevelance was conducted in Aden in collaboration of MoPHP, Hadramout University College Of Medicine, Faculty Of Medicine & Health's Sciences, Aden University and WHO - Seroprevalence study was conducted in Aden governorate during the period from 28 November to 13 December 2020 to provide key epidemiological and serologic characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 virus and to measure the sero- prevalence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in the general population by sex and age group, in order to ascertain the cumulative population immunity in Aden, Yemen - It is a One-time cross-sectional study, sample size was calculated to be 2000 - Four districts out of 8 districts were randomly selected, within each districts two locations (Zones) were selected by simple random methods - RDT was done in the field by trained laboratory students and Serum specimen collected for confirmatory testing with a highly specific and sensitive ELISA - The result: Prevalence of SARS-COVID2 antibodies among the study sample from Aden is 27.4% - One of the main recommendations is to enhance the immunity of the population through development an effective COVID19 vaccination Plan, in addition to other recommendations including improve the COVID surveillance as the second wave may be more intensive than the first wave For more information please find in the attached presentation 4 Lab pillar updates (TBC): Apologized - 5 RCCE pillar updates: Apologized 6 ICRC/MoPHP update: it is postponed Because of time 7 AOB 8 - The chair adjourned the meeting at 11:30 AM - - Next meeting – Wednesday 17th March 2021 10am at Primary Health Care Office, Mansura, Aden .
