Team Notes • is in his 41st season as Duke’s head coach, and his record is now 1,089-295 at Duke, and 1,162-354 overall in this, his 46th season overall. • The game was the 21st in the series versus Pittsburgh, with the series now 13-8 in Duke’s favor, including 6-4 in road games (3-2 at the Petersen Events Center). • Duke’s five-game winning streak in the series was snapped. • Duke is now 15-4 all-time when playing on January 19. • The Blue Devils have now connected on at least one three-pointer in 1,099 consecutive games, which is the second- longest active streak in the nation. • Pitt owned a 37-19 advantage in attempts. The 37 attempts were a season-high by a Duke opponent and the most allowed by Duke since 50 at Wake Forest (double OT) on Feb. 25, 2020. In a regulation game, Syracuse had 37 free throw attempts earlier last season at the Carrier Dome. • Pitt’s Justin Champagnie (31 points) became the first opposing player to score 30+ points since Aubrey Dawkins (32 points) for UCF in the 2019 NCAA Tournament Second Round. • Duke, which entered the game ranked second in the ACC and 18th nationally in steals per game (9.1), recorded eight in the contest. Duke has six or more steals in every game, and eight or more in eight of nine games. • Duke’s 39 bench points (24 from Jalen Johnson and 15 from Wendell Moore Jr.) were a season high.

Player Notes • Freshman Jalen Johnson recorded his second double-double this season with a career-high 24 points, 15 rebounds, a career-high seven assists, no turnovers, a career-high-tying four blocked shots and two steals in 33 minutes. • He is the first Duke player all-time to score at least 20 points, have at least 15 rebounds, at least seven assists and no turnovers in a single game. • Not factoring in turnovers, he and former Blue Devil RJ Barrett are the only Duke freshman all-time with a 20-15-7 game, and he is just the fourth Duke player all-time with a 20-15-7 game, joining Art Heyman (did it twice), Danny Ferry and Barrett. • Johnson matched his career high of eight made field goals and was 7-of-10 at the free throw line. • All of Johnson’s previous career highs came versus Coppin State. He was four rebounds shy of his career-high of 19 vs. Coppin State. • Sophomore Wendell Moore Jr., scored 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-6 from three-point range. • Sophomore Matthew Hurt scored 13 points, snapping a streak of seven consecutive games with 17+ points. He has scored 12+ in every game this season.
