Dear Senator Baker, CONGRATULATIONS

We're going to get that darkroom in upstairs at the White House yet! It's great news of your appointment. I don't know when we have heard anything in the news that has elicited such general approval among my associates - both Republicans and "that other party".

I applaud and admire you for your willingness to step forward and assume some responsibility for trying to get the cart back on the track under the current circumstances.

Re our last telephone conversation, I have assumed that you musthave worked out the problem of porting your sensitometric computer program over from you Apple to your AT&T machine since you did not send me the listing of your program for some help in making the transition as we discussed. However, I did set up the right people among my Kodak associates to help me to do the conversion job if it continues to be a problem.

I wish you the best of luck in your new duties, and hope that it doesn't interfere too much with your time in the darkroom!

Dear Howard:

Congratulations!!

The last few months have been horrendous for Ronald Reagan and the Republican Party. You have been afforded an opportunity to get this show back on the road. It is refreshing to see the reaction of the news media which normally condemns everybody and everything. You are operating in a friendly atmosphere now and hopefully that will make the task easier. It could not be in better hands.

I had the opportunity of visiting with you in Washington on several occasions and also in Jackson, Wyoming where you, Jane and I were staying at the Triangle X Ranch. A most pleasant and informative evening.

If you recall, we discussed your situation having to do with the gas wells on your property - how do you, as a lessor, get the gas from the wells to your facilities for dome s tic use because there was a river involved? Interesting situation.

If there is anything I can do to be of help please let me know.

Dear Howard:

Congratulations and thanks for coming to the aid of our Party. I know if anyone can get this situation straightened out, it is you.

I don't expect you to remember me; however, I have been with you in Washington many times. The first time being when you were elected to the Senate and you gave a seminar trying to teach us how to win elections.

While you were serving in the Senate I contacted you many times and you always responded to my request. As a former Republican County Chairman, I know what party loyalty means.

I wish you every success and if you ever feel I can be of any assistance to you, please let me know.

Warm personal regards.

p. s. I was never too sold on , especially when he was Secretary of the Treasury and got into a big hassle with millions of senior citizens on the social security issue. I had written to our President at that time and asked him to ask for Donald Regan's resignation but he didn't do it. The President might have been better off if he had listened to me!
