SUBIACO FLOREAT CRICKET CLUB (Inc.)

President’s Report

I like to measure our Club’s success on not just what happens on the field but also what happens off it. I try to reflect on the 3 Rs being Reputation, Respect and Results. If we have it right then we should be able to fill our playing lists with cricketers who want to be at our Club for all of the right reasons and who will remain lifelong supporters and enjoy success together in all aspects of their life.

I am never concerned if a player leaves our club to strive for success. The measure of our Club’s success is if they feel they can return and still achieve their goals. Our current 1st Grade premiership team contained 5 players who left for good cause during their playing days and all returned to win a premiership together. That is a sign of a successful culture and a bond that will survive beyond their playing days.

In my humble view, we are pretty good and with a continued strong focus by those entrusted with leadership, we will continue to build from our solid foundations.

We have a Club due to the hard work of our former players and committee but we should never have former supporters. If anyone has been involved with the Club in their lives, hopefully they will always want to be supporters of the Club. To me, the depth of our Club shone when I walked around the WACA at the grand final and introduced myself to 2 elderly spectators who had caught a ride from their retirement home to come to watch both days of the final and support the boys. To Mr and Mrs Cann, it was a pleasure to catch up with you and how brilliant to see them excited by the win.

Our coaching staff work hard to build players into mature decision makers who can perform under pressure. A highlight was seeing Dermot make judgement calls about when to get involved and when to back off and allow our players the oxygen to thrive. You can’t develop leaders if you don’t let them lead and allow them to back their judgements to achieve success. Well done Derm and thanks for a brilliant contribution. To Dermot, Liam, Ken, Cal and John, many thanks and well done on a great season across all of the grades.

A big thanks to the Committee for their continued efforts to help deliver an environment where cricketers can fulfil their dreams.

At the beginning of the year our KPI’s were as follows:

 To finish top 6 in the Club Championship Yes  1st Grade to play in finals Yes – premiership  Either 2s, 3s, 4s or Colts to play in finals Yes - 3 of 4  Both women’s teams to play in finals No  4 senior players to represent the state Yes  2 junior players to represent the state Yes  No reported players No

So the KPIs were mostly achieved and we had an improved performance from the prior year.

Our leadership group is headed by the captains who do a power of work to make sure they balance the desire for short-term success with the need to develop players for the future. They have to put their

Season 2016/17 40th Annual Report Page 6

SUBIACO FLOREAT CRICKET CLUB (Inc.) friendships aside and do what is the best for the Club and then lead without favour on the game day to optimize success for the Club. To Dos, Cam, Sam, Chris, Drew, Nicole, Lizzy and Larry, many thanks for a job well done.

Our juniors need nurturing and the Cubs need guidance to develop into the leaders of the future. In the safe hands of Andrew Sculthorpe, the juniors have had a good year with many of the talented boys making their colts and seniors debuts this year.

So on reflection of the 3 Rs we had a great year.

 Our reputation is that of a leading cricket club which has a strong player led culture of fair but determined play;

 Our playing group continues to earn respect both on and off the field by their conduct and their bond to achieve success together; and

 The results take care of themselves when you get the first two right and well done to the entire playing group on their achievements.

Many thanks to Jane, Cam and Kim for their continued support and assistance and allowing me the personal indulgence of my passion for Subi.

Cheers

Glyn

Coach’s Report

The 2016/17 season was tremendously pleasing.

Three of the four senior men's sides made finals and the first grade won the premiership. The Colts should also be congratulated on making the grand final.

With 7 first grade players averaging over 40, the batting statistics are pleasing. It was always going to be with the ball that would test our credentials to be a premiership contending side.

The whole hearted performances by Andrew Holder gave us the opportunity to be with the front runners come the finals campaign. His 57 wickets is a club record and his ability to come back strong with decisive bowling spells late in the day showed wonderful stamina and commitment. He is an example to all with his fitness levels, upbeat personality and character.

Between Andrew and Chris they took 90 wickets at 20.2. The other bowlers also played their part with Ash Blake bowling steadily most of the season before stepping up with two great performances in the finals campaign. Tim Montelone took vital wickets in games and Jimmy Sansalone also did his bit, with a big performance against and a crucial spell late in the day v Melville where we got home by 5 runs.

Alex Malcolm was the leading run scorer with 703 runs at 43. He will be missed badly at the club for his inspiration and help of others as much as his prolific run scoring. I have witnessed no better WACA district top player in all my years for having such an admirable attitude to help other club men with their game. It has been a privilege to see week after week. Thank you Alex. Aaron Lilly had a stellar year with 646 runs at 49 and Callum How 643 @ 46 continues to impress all with his tremendous ball striking.

Cam Green had a fantastic year with his first A Grade to go with his amazing first class debut 5 wicket haul. Great achievements for a 17 year old.

Again all the batsmen had their vital contributions. AJ Murphy with good contributions in the prelim and grand final, Gerry Fatouros against Fremantle and Claremont in the finals campaign and Tim against the second new ball v Claremont to get the side to the brink of victory to name a few.

It was the captain Chris Hansberry, who with Andrew Holder in support took the side home in all the finals matches, relishing the occasion and showing the necessary big match temperament. Scores of 67 not, 9 not and 74 not to go with his ever consistent high quality left arm spin. Huge congratulations to Chris.

My thanks to all captains for looking after their teams on match days. A culture of self-reliance is becoming evident at training and on match days. This helps develop leadership and ownership of one’s skill set.

To keep a culture of enjoyment, encouragement and positivity is paramount. To take the field to perform for yourself and your mates is a powerful weapon. This comes with genuine team and club spirit.

The importance of bringing the right emotional state to training and match days is very valuable, but the key is to maintain this keen, upbeat state throughout training and on the field of play. It must always be there for every ball.

Season 2016/17 40th Annual Report Page 8

SUBIACO FLOREAT CRICKET CLUB (Inc.)

Total, 100% encouragement between players must remain a non-negotiable and this should keep the club happy and healthy. My thanks to all players for never moaning or blaming. I bang on about the mental side of the game a lot and believe a team supporting and encouraging is the way to play. We all make mistakes but know it’s your attitude and effort that truly matter. The challenge now is to repeat and improve on this year’s success.

My thanks to Bruce and Scott for their superb work on the wickets.

To Liam Davis who worked with the batsmen and Ken Lilly with the bowlers, thank you both for your effort and support. A big thanks to John Stoykovski for looking after the player’s physical preparation. To Larry Davies for being an excellent net captain, my huge thanks. To Simon Heyting the Club’s chairman of selectors, congratulations and thanks for your efforts. To all the committee and supporters, thank you for all you do for this wonderful cricket club.

I heard a story this season that a player on hearing of a player who had dropped a couple of catches in a different grade phoned the player to say "don't worry buddy, it's ok"

That is absolutely the culture of a winning club.

1st Grade Report

Following a disappointing season in 2015/16 we reflected on our performances as a team and set ourselves a goal to win the 2016/17 premiership, a goal I am proud to say we were able to achieve. At times throughout the season, I can honestly say that goal appeared a very long way away, however to their credit, the players were able to rise to the occasion at the crucial moments of each match which enabled us to not only secure a place in the top 6, but ultimately to beat three very strong teams to clinch the flag.

Our success came on the back of strong team performances with both bat and ball;

 Alex Malcolm – 703 runs at 43.94, 7 x 50s and 1 x 100  Aaron Lilly – 646 runs at 49.69, 4 x 50s and 2 x 100s  Calum How – 643 runs at 45.93, 4 x 50s and 1 x 100  Chris Hansberry – 342 runs at 42.75, 4 x 50s and 33 wickets at 23.21  Andrew Holder – 217 runs at 54.25, 1 x 50 and 57 wickets at 18.51, 5 x 5fas, 1 x 10fa  Ash Blake – 22 wickets at 29.36

Alex Malcolm and Calum How had fantastic seasons and were crucial in our success however Aaron Lilly was the surprise packet. Aaron had a breakthrough season with the bat which culminated in his first two A-grade hundreds and another four 50’s. Aaron’s poise under pressure combined with his ability to score quickly and take games away from the opposition makes him an exciting prospect for the club.

Cameron Green also made his mark at A-grade level, unfortunately exams, State U19s and First Class commitments resulted in Cameron missing a number of games but when he was available he showed his true class as a genuine all-rounder, most notably his 116 against Mt Lawley under pressure demonstrated his talent and potential to consistently perform at the next level.

With the ball, Andrew Holder was in a class of his own. Following the injury of Glenn Stockden early in the season, Andrew was given the opportunity with the new ball against University, Andrew seized this with both hands taking 10 wickets for the match. From this point on Andrew didn’t look back and went on to take another four 5 wicket hauls and several 4 wicket hauls – including 6-wicket hauls in both the elimination and grand final and a 4-wicket haul in the semi-final. Andrew’s finals campaign yielded a total of 16 wickets at an average of 13.68, a truly outstanding achievement.

Andrew also made several critical contributions with the bat throughout the finals series scoring 52* and 13* to compile unbroken match winning partnerships in the elimination (124*) and grand finals (90*) with myself – 67* and 74* respectively

The season resulted in four SFCC players receiving the honour of selection in the WADCC’s ‘Team of the Year’. The inclusion of four players from the club is a fitting reward for the hard work and excellent performances of the following players;

 Chris Hansberry (Captain)  Alex Malcolm  Calum How  Andrew Holder

A premiership was a fitting send off for Alex ‘The Pro’ Malcolm who now begins a new chapter in his life relocating to be with his wife in Melbourne. I would like to acknowledge Alex’s considerable contribution to the club since he began as an 11-year-old in Inverarity Shield. He has had a stellar career and received many accolades in his 20+ years at the club, he will be remembered as a fantastic cricketer and an even better bloke and one of my best mates.

It would be a challenge for any club to replace an individual such as ‘The Pro’ however as a club we are fortunate to have a number of young hungry players itching for the opportunity to make their mark. Whilst their opportunities were limited this season, Geremy Fatouros and Hamish McKenzie have seamlessly transitioned into the A-grade setup and shown that they not only have talent with bat and ball but also a positive attitude and excellent work ethic.

I’d like to thank the committee, sponsors, volunteers, supporters, Simon Heyting our Chairman of Selectors and coaching staff - Dermot Reeve, Liam Davis, Ken Lilly and John Stoykovski for their efforts all season. I look forward to 2017/18 and the continued success it will bring.

2nd Grade Report

On behalf of the Second Grade players, I would like to congratulate our First Grade team for winning the two-day Premiership at the WACA in March. Congratulations to Chris Hansberry and Glyn O’Brien who became the Club’s fourth 1st Grade Premiership Captain and President respectively. They join the ranks of an elite group; , Gavin Swan and David Bolton and Ron Burgess, John Worland and Larry Davies.

During the past couple of seasons I’ve had the pleasure of playing alongside each of the Lions who represented us at the WACA. Some have worked their way into the team via our second grade team, while others have been fighting for a 2-day Premiership for over 10+ years. I am immensely proud of both their on-field performance and the way they shared their win with the Club.

The celebrations at the pavilion after the game saw; men and women from all other grades, players’ mums and dads, past players, current and past coaches, sponsors and Subi-Floreat juniors welcomed to enjoy the Club’s success. It was a scene that will be long remembered in the fabric of our Club.

Congratulations to Andrew Holder, who was the leading wicket taker in Premier Cricket. He was also selected in the Premier Cricket Team of the Year alongside Alex Malcom, Calum How (w/k) and Chris Hansberry who was named captain of that team. To Heather Graham who was the leading wicket taker in A Grade T-20 Premier Cricket and to Lizzy Alderson who was selected to the Premier Cricket Team of the Year, congratulations.

History won’t record the results of the 2016/17 Second Grade season fondly. We finished the season at the bottom of the ladder and recorded only two wins, both coming in 50-over fixtures.

While all other senior men’s teams sustained significant success throughout the season, it felt like our season never got out of second gear. The recurring theme to our matches saw foundations laid and hard work done – only to be dug up or undone by lapses in concentration or periods of poor cricket that would later be the difference between winning and losing.

We were competitive in all but three games and these fixtures against Perth, Claremont-Nedlands and Joondalup, showed us the level to which we need to lift if we’re going to be contenders to play finals cricket. The remaining games were decided by 10-20% margins – a wicket or two or 20 to 40 runs… unfortunately, we were only on the winning end of those small margins twice.

Of the 23 players who represented the Second Grade team during the summer, 14 have already played 1st grade for Subi-Floreat. During the coming seasons I expect we’ll see the likes of Jack Retallack, Josh May, Lucas Martin and Michael Hart added to that list.

Without doubt, the highlights of the season were singing the song after wins against Scarborough in round two and Mt Lawley in round eleven. We sent Scarborough in to bat on a soft wicket and restricted them to 9/176 from a rain reduced 36 overs. Our run chase was clinical, Gerry Fatouros and Hamish McKenzie both passed 50 in a 100+ run opening stand before Drew Watson finished the job, seeing us home with 4 balls in hand. It was another significant batting that saw us knock off Mt Lawley. Gerry and Stef Collins combined for a 150+ run stand that saw us post 288 from our 50 overs. Gerry’s 125 (110 balls) was a special knock, showing us a glimpse of his capabilities and foreshadows a long First Grade career at Subi-Floreat, while Stef’s innings of 77 was a hard fought example of how to build a one-day innings in seriously hot conditions!

Season 2016/17 40th Annual Report Page 12

SUBIACO FLOREAT CRICKET CLUB (Inc.)

Other notable performances during the season included:

- Tom Moores making a run a ball 90 against Gosnells at Floreat in round twelve and Hamish McKenzie finding his feet as an opening batsman during the season and posting three scores of 50+.

- Hamish McKenzie showed his significant all-round talent bagging two 4fa’s (4/29 against University and 4/36 against Mt Lawley), Josh Parker’s took 4/44 when he took the new ball against Willetton and John Stoykovski’s 4/49 against Mt Lawley contributed significantly towards that win.

Congratulations to the second grade award winners:

- Stef Collins showed he’s a class act, scoring 442 runs @ 31.6 including three scores above 50; and

- Hamish McKenzie who took 17 wickets @ 19.6. Hamish jumped at the opportunity to play Men’s cricket over Juniors this summer. In years to come, I expect Hamish will remember this season as one when he matured significantly. To have opened the batting for an entire season as a 16-17 year old and to finish the season winning the bowling award is a significant achievement.

Finally, thank-you to Glyn, Stu, Dos, Andrew and the Committee for their tireless off-field efforts, our generous sponsors for their financial support, the other Grade skippers, Chris Hansberry, Cameron O’Brien and Gianni Di Rosso for hours of entertainment at selection meetings and our Club Coach Dermot Reeve whose cricketing wisdom and positive attitude we’ve all benefited from.

3rd Grade Report

Having made it to the grand final last year and falling short due to a rain-impacted game, the 3rds set the goal to finish as high as possible on the ladder. This would eliminate the issue we had last season with the weather and would place us in a better position to succeed in reaching the premiership. With 10 wins and only 2 losses for the season, we were able to finish as the minor premiers. With 10 wins for the season, the year was full of many strong performances by both individuals and the team.

One of our most enjoyable wins for the year was returning to Iluka for the Grand final rematch. We won the toss and elected to bat first in the one-day game. We were able to post a total of 9/228 off the back of a sensational run a ball 101 by Buhadar Ali. With the strong total set, we were positive that we could defend that total with the bowling attack that we had at our disposal. However at 3 for 106 with 20 overs to go and the deck having flattened out we looked to be set for a tight finish. Up stepped Buhadar Ali. Having fallen behind the over rate, we threw him the ball with the plan to try to rush through a few overs and get ourselves back into the game. With the two spinners operating from both ends, we were able to build pressure and this resulted in the run rate getting out of Joondalup’s control. Bud ended up with match figures of 3 for 41 off 9 overs to go with his run a ball 101 and showed one of the best individual performances that we have seen with both the bat and ball.

One of our strongest performances for the season was against Gosnells. We won the toss and elected to bowl and managed to knock them over for 135 runs. With only 13 overs to face that night we were in an awkward position at stumps being 2/18. The next weekend saw Buhadar Ali and Daniel Wells come to the crease and steady the ship. Wellsy showed a dominant batting performance making an unbeaten 126 without giving a chance. This was made more impressive by the hard gut running between the wickets. We declared at 5 for 237 off 58 overs.

It was a pleasure to Captain the 3s this season and made even more enjoyable by being able to sing the song most weekends.

I also would just like to say a big thank you to Bailie Waller who filled in as Captain for two games.

ELIMINATION FINAL

The elimination final saw us play Willetton at Floreat oval. SFCC won the toss and batted, scoring a poor total of 53 with the highest score coming from debutant, Mitch Adamos (21 no). With a small total on the board, the bowlers gave it the best crack, Jack Retallack (3 for 32) and Michel Hart (4 for 6) saw Willetton bowled out for 75. With a poor first innings total the boys put on a strong second innings lead, before rain interrupted the game.

PRELIMINARY FINAL

The preliminary final went much like our Elimination Final. SFCC won the toss and sent Wanneroo into bat after a rain delayed start. Jack Retallack continued his form with (3 for 17) and Cameron O'Brien (3 for 26) saw Wanneroo post a score of 143. The run chase did not go to plan and resulted in us missing the chance to join the 1’s and 4’s in the Grand Final.

BATTING

Batting was an area that we found tough again this year. However, we did manage to set or pass most teams totals this year of the back of a number of great opening partnerships.

Ben Hotchkin 374 runs @ 34, also SFCC’s 3s Champion Player, with 704 points from 12 matches

Ali Bahadur 276 runs @ 30.67

Daniel Wells 252 @ 21

NOTABLE INNINGS

Daniel Wells 126 no

Bahadur Ali 101

BOWLING

The 3s bowling attack continued to be our strength, with five individuals taking five or more wickets throughout the season. Our strong bowling attack was able to bowl teams out for low totals with no opposition having batted their full allotment of overs in a two day fixture.

Raman Singh 24 @ 15.13

Cameron O’Brien 18 @19.33

Matt D’Opera 17 @26.65

NOTABLE BOWLING PERFORMANCES

John Stoykovski 6 for 35

Jack Retallack 5 for 12

Raman Singh 5 for 40

Cameron O’Brien 5 for 43

Jake Colvin 5 for 46

Thanks to all 23 players who represented SFCC 3s throughout the season, including SFCC’s talented Under 17s Kiran Prashanth, Ben Tredget and Cory Bradnam. All 23 players contributed to the 3s winning the minor premiers and playing finals.

Thank you to Dermot, Ken, Liam, Simon, Chris, Sam and Dos for their guidance over the year and a huge thank you to the SFCC Committee for their efforts to ensure we have the best opportunity to succeed and enjoy our cricket.

4th Grade Report

Played 16, Won 10, Draws 2, Lost 4, Position 2nd

Wickets lost 97, Runs for 3,037, Wickets taken 144, Runs against 2446, Quotient 1.84

The 2016/17 season saw 26 players represent the club in the 4’s, down from 38 players from the season prior. This helped to create a more stable side which was pivotal in helping us reach the grand final, the first time since 2000/01. We finished 2nd at the end of the home and away season, drew the elimination final, won the preliminary final and lost the grand final. I’d like to thank every player that played 4s this season, together as a team we just fell short but every player improved, gave 100% and played for the club, not himself. This makes me very proud!

The main reason for our success this summer I believe was our all-round strength in batting, bowling and fielding. The improvements made were incredible. In 15 completed games (the 1st being a washout without a ball being bowled) we only lost 97 wickets and scored 3,037 runs. This helped us immensely as we always had wickets in hand whether we were batting first setting a total or chasing a target. Our bowling and fielding was equally impressive. We took 144 wickets and only conceded 2,446 runs. This boosted our quotient to be the best in the 4th grade and second only in the entire competition to the Claremont/Nedlands 1st grade side. At the end of the home and away season we were equal with Claremont/Nedlands on points but finished 2nd due to our superior quotient.

I had a formula and challenged the boys all season to stick to it which they did with discipline, patience and hard work. In the 2 day games we tried to be no more than 2 down at lunch, 4 down at tea and then we could launch in the last session and set a winning total. In the one day format the formula was similar. Be no more than 2 down after 15 overs going at 4 runs per over, overs 16-30 no more than 4 down going at 5 runs per over and overs 31-45 have at least 6 wickets in hand and go at a minimum of 6 runs per over. I’d like to see the boys continue to use this formula as a guide in the future for both formats, it gives them a goal to strive for as a team and when we executed the formula we always won.

Batting highlights for the 2016/17 season included 2 x centuries and 15 x half centuries, up from season 2015/16 1x century and 8 x half centuries.

Jonno Dean - 119 vs Gosnells, 97 vs Rockingham/Mandurah and 57 no vs Joondalup

Daniel Wells - 139 no vs Rockingham Mandurah and 95 vs Mount Lawley

Elimination Final vs Fremantle

I won the toss and chose to bat on a hard Alderbury wicket. After being 3 for 20, Tom Wilson and Jason Hart put on 53 for the 4th wicket. Willo batted for the entire first session and while he only made 14 off 110 balls he took the shine off the new ball while Gritty scored around him with a clean striking 41 off 70 balls (5-4s 1-6). Immediately after lunch we lost 4 for 12 and were looking down the barrel at 7 for 85. Enter Mitchell (Gilly) Carey and Axel (Baronet) Spearman who put on 93 for the 8th wicket and batted the majority of the 2nd session. Carey was the rock, 45 off 145 (5-4’s) and Axel was the roll, 49 off 83 (5-4s) in what saved us this final with a superb no risk partnership under immense pressure from a strong Freo bowling attack. Axel threw away his 50 immediately after tea and then Mungo 23 off 72 batted with Carey before Mitch was incorrectly given out caught behind hitting the ground and not the ball. Luke Parker 12 off 34 put on an invaluable 32 for the 10th wicket with Mungo and we were bowled out for 224 in 97.4 overs. Day 2 saw Freo get off to a good start putting on a slow 82 for the 1st wicket with thunder and lightning approaching from the Northwest. Dos then brought himself into the attack and dismissed both openers and Freo realised the rain was coming and God Moscarda then took 3 quickly from the other end and Freo went from 0 for 82 to 5 for 106. Another God intervened and ended the match with thunder, lightning and torrential rain and SFCC went through to the Prelim Final.

Preliminary Final vs Willetton

I won the toss and sent Willetton in on another dry hard Alderbury wicket, a wet outfield and a delayed start to the match. Willetton were never mentally prepared to bat but we were primed and ready to bowl. Moscarda and Mungo routed Willetton for 69 off 32.5 overs with God taking yet another 5 for in a final, 16/4/39/5. Mungo 11/2/19/4 shared the spoils and Gritty chimed in with 6/1/11/1 to destroy Willetton’s hopes of hosting a Grand Final. We were 1/55 at stumps. Day 2 saw Ben Parker compile 80 off 268 balls (4-4s) in what was an amazing display of patience with Reedy 34, Gritty 27, Carey 20, Dos 31 and God 18 no all getting starts and batting practice for the GF. When Willetton conceded in the last session we were 7/231 off 111 overs.

Grand Final vs Claremont/Nedlands

I won the toss and sent Claremont in at Burrendah 2 on a soft under prepared wicket due to persistent showers during the week. After 65 quality overs of tight, pressure bowling from all bowlers with 9 catches taken behind the wicket, we had bowled Claremont out for 110 and were in the box seat with 32 overs remaining for us to bat day 1. Every bowler contributed in the wicket column with Moscarda 3, Gritty 3, Dos 2, Mungo and Jonno 1 each. 31 of the 65 overs bowled were maidens in what was a superb team effort. On the 10 occasions we chased a target throughout the season, we were victorious 8 times so we were quietly confident. At 7 for 33 we were in a black hole. Of the first 6 dismissals in our innings there were 4 lbws, 2 were incorrectly given, Ben Parker smashed his and Kiran Prasanth was hit way outside the line of off stump. We needed a partnership badly. Mossie and Dos saw us through to stumps and we were 7 for 55 off 32 overs. Day 2 started with some positive batting which saw the score reach 7

Season 2016/17 40th Annual Report Page 17

SUBIACO FLOREAT CRICKET CLUB (Inc.) for 67 when Dos (22 off 33) nicked off and the only partnership of 34 for the innings was broken. Mossie was the last man out (24 off 88) and we had been bowled out for 84 off 46 overs. No other batsman unfortunately reached double figures. We still believed we could achieve a reverse outright and had Claremont 2 for 17 in their 2nd innings but the wicket flattened. When I conceded 2 overs into the last hour, Claremont were 4 for 126 of 66 overs (Prasanth 2, Moscarda 1 and Dos 1).

Upon reflection after the loss we can hold our heads high in what was a successful season. Our batting at the top with Tom Wilson averaging 21.27, Ben Parker 40.14, Sam Reed 20, Jonno Dean 48.83 always ensured we got off to a good start. The middle order then cashed in on the hard work the boys did at the top with Kiran Prasanth averaging 53, Mitchell Carey 37.38 and Gianni Di Rosso 38.71 all improving from last season. The bowling was led by Mungo Russell 28 wickets at 8.43, Mossie 19 at 18.68, Luke Parker 18 at 21.22, Jonno Dean 17 at 16.53 and Gianni Di Rosso 14 at 17.79. Axel Spearman had a brilliant year as our wicket keeper. He was hardly noticed behind the stumps all season, his glove work was so clean. He made it look easy and has a bright future. His batting is a sight to behold despite his slight frame, he times the ball beautifully and his quirky nature keeps the lads entertained off the field.

I’d like to thank Mossie and Gritty who with their experience provided invaluable advice to the young players in the side and always led by example with their words and actions. The boys looked up to both of them and they were instrumental in helping us reach the grand final. Thank you to Dermot for all your words of wisdom about our great game and for the time you spent at our games advising the boys. Bruce and Scott thank you for preparing the best wickets in the competition for us once again. Thank you to the Chairman for making selections as easy as possible. We did make some big calls towards the end of the season and I apologise to the players that missed out. Finally, thank you to the committee for your on-going support and for the opportunity to captain the 4th grade for another season. It is a privilege and an honour to do so and I don’t take it for granted.

Colts Report

The Colts had a great year in making the Grand Final but eventually fell short losing to Midland- Guildford. The season was successful due to all players chipping in at different times and never relying on just one or two individual players to get the job done.

Not losing a game in the group stage and qualifying for the finals as the 1st placed team in the competition was a huge effort. A tight fought semi-final victory against Claremont-Nedlands in a rain- affected contest was the highlight of the season for the team.

There were many spectacular individual performances also. Englishman Tom Moores struck some huge blows against the Country XI in Donnybrook to start the season on a winning note. Hamish McKenzie’s 90 guided the side to a win against Perth. A great team performance with the ball cemented a win against Scarborough, knocking the Gulls over for 105. Jack Retallack’s four-wicket haul against South Perth ensured a finals berth. Angus McKenzie was consistent with the ball all season taking 9 wickets at an average of 18 with his left arm wrist spin.

It was a pleasure to captain the Colts this year and I thoroughly enjoyed doing so. Thanks to all the boys who played at any stage of the year and with such a young talented group there is no reason that the side can’t go one better next year. Special thanks also to Josh Parker for coaching the side this season and to Gianni Di Rosso for all his work in managing the side.

Under 17’s Report

I would like to start by thanking all players for their effort this season. We finished 2nd after the round robin of matches which was an excellent achievement. We exited in the first finals match.

We scored more runs than any team and 266 runs more than the next best. This was largely due to the players’ ability but also being challenged to experiment with their range of shots and scoring options. Improvement was obvious but took time to show in games and it was not until the 2nd innings in round 5 v Rockingham where Kiran and Jamie played with the necessary freedom. From there, our season took off and we recorded 7 straight wins.

In rounds 6, 7 and 8 Jamie scored 56 from 46 balls, 38 from 18 and 62 from 52. His no fear batting was a great example to the others and he is a good leader, always putting the team first. He also scored 97 from 88 balls when we amassed 343-2 against Midland. His leg break bowling is much improved and he took 9 wickets at 15. He has the game and attitude to go far. He is also not alone and I was blessed with a highly talented squad.

Kiran was our top run scorer with 549 runs at 49.91 with two centuries including 163 v Midland. His batting is a joy to watch and his temperament first class. It always felt like a shock when he was dismissed as he is so assured at the crease. He and Jamie captained the team this season and both read the game well.

Ross Williams scored 201 runs at 50 and took 8 wickets @ 10. He also topped the Colts batting and bowling averages and is a player of immense promise.

Ben Tredget is another with the game and attitude to go far. His 69 from 79 balls on a bowler friendly surface against Wanneroo in round 12 was a super knock. We bowled Wanneroo out for 30 that day.

Coby Edmondstone also performed well when available as 9 wickets @ 10 and 100 runs @ 33 shows. His turn and bounce against the left handers from Gosnells was of the highest quality.

Andrew Nicholson took 15 wickets @ 14 including 5-10 and was always a contributor with ball in hand.

Ranoul showed he raises his bowling on match days and 11 wickets @ 12 was a fine achievement.

Cory Bradnam received the player of the year trophy for leading the attack each week and taking 21 wickets @ 12. He also made 235 runs and put his wicket on the line in the pursuit of quick runs for the team and should be commended for this.

To witness unselfish, team first attitudes is always pleasing for a coach. The team spirit and encouragement between the players was always good. It was a pleasure to coach this group of young men and I wish them all the best for their cricketing future. A big thank you to all the parents that helped out and supported the team.

To Angus McKenzie who assisted me at training, a big thank you and finally to Neil Wood who was a perfect team manager, thank you Neil.

Under 15’s Report

Our season can probably be summed up with the saying ‘so close and yet so far’. The same team in U14’s managed to win four or five matches by under ten runs, this season we fell short by about the same number of runs and games. We were competitive, the boys were always striving hard and a positive attitude was maintained throughout what proved to be a challenging season. With the team changing (what seemed like on a daily basis) due to PSA commitments, holidays, injuries and some players needed in U17s, it was a testament to the depth of talent in the team and of those coming through in U14s that we managed a good level of consistency in performance all season.

So, would I call the season a failure, absolutely not! We had sparks of brilliance with bat, ball and in the field from a range of players throughout the season. The boys gained experience, built on their resilience and learnt that cricket is not always a fair game, nor is it always fun at times. However, ‘persistence leads to success’ and I hope the boys understand that as a result of their fantastic season ending win against Wanneroo. We had Charlie Hurst’s knock of 61 off 78 and a blistering 52 off 38 from Cam Geddes, great fielding with stumpings galore (4 to Cam Geddes as wicket keeper) and some really special spin from Will Cornish getting 6 for 29. A great way to finish the season.

Opening our batting with the most positive attitude was Charlie Hurst (coach’s award) and Nick Kane or Jacob van der Meulen in most games. We had cameo opening appearances by Bray Lyon, Fraser Jaffray (Mr Nimble), Joey Betts and Tom Murray. Generally we got off to a good start with Ethan Chivers (batting award) coming in at three followed by Cam Geddes, Harry Gilchrist, Fraser Jaffray and Bray Lyon to continue building our innings.

We had significant bowling depth and our main pace quad of Michael Humphryson (20 at 15.6 - bowling award), Mitch Georgiades, Jacob van der Meulen and Francois (Frenchie) were complemented by the wonderful spin of Will Cornish. We also had Cam Geddes and Jacob Arto stemming the run rate with fantastic economy rates and Jayson Spencer and Griff Binning adding variation to our attack.

Fielding improved over the course of the season with some notable run outs by Bray, Frenchie, Matt Sculthorpe and Cambell. Most catches in the field were taken by ball magnets Harry Gilchrist and Nick Kane. Our main wicket keepers, Harry, Ethan and Bray all did a great job behind the stumps and kept some sort of dialogue going to whoever would listen. Charlie Hurst deserves a mention as the short leg fielder with the most chirp.

To help us manage team numbers, we had three ‘play ons’ who trained with the squad all season as fill ins when PSA kicked in. Jacob Arto proved to be a handy left arm medium pacer and an outstanding fielder. Luke Giglia- Smith showed that even a broken thumb couldn’t stop him from taking wickets on his debut against Claremont Nedlands 2 for 11 off 4 overs. Taj Hasson also showed some pace when given the ball and was unlucky not to take a wicket. A special mention needs to go to our U14 players who filled in when our numbers were decimated by PSA commitments. All the boys gave their all and helped us to be competitive. Thanks go to Tom Murray, Joey Betts, Matt Sculthorpe, Tatenda Makova, Alex Osborne, Finn Moloney and Riley Waters.

To all the parents, well done in surviving a topsy-turvy season and thank you for your support and understanding. I say a special thanks to Andrew Sculthorpe for finding U14 players to fill in at last minute. Thanks also to Adam Gilchrist and Carl Binning for helping with coaching and umpiring, to Rob Humphryson for keeping the humour up whilst trying to manage the moving feast we call a team and special note to Lee van der Meulen for dealing with MyCricket!

To the boys, well done and success for your future cricket careers.

Under 14’s Report (McKenzie Shield)

“Could’ve, should’ve, would’ve won but didn’t quite manage it”, is the defining description of the season. The statistics are hard to fathom, but put simply, the side claimed more wickets than any other team in the league and amassed the third highest number of runs but still managed to somehow lose more matches than they won.

The player group is particularly talented and whilst the results were disappointing there were many harsh lessons learnt from tough/close defeats. There were also some excellent personal performances with both bat and ball and in spite of the win loss ratio, the abiding memories will be of a great team spirit, mateship and love for the club.

The season began with a resounding win against last season’s Grand Final runners up, Bayswater- Morley with half centuries for Tatenda Makova, Tom Love and Finn Moloney. Everything certainly looked rosy but the following eight games saw just two more victories. This doesn’t tell the full story though, as the team had the opportunity to win every game and always fought hard to the end.

Special mention must be made of Matthew (Scully) Sculthorpe who finished the season as leading wicket taker with 18 wickets at 7.22, including a 5 for 28 against Centurions. This impressive tally, second in the league, would have been greater still but for injury, although a silver lining came when he took the wicket-keeping gloves and promptly snaffled 6 stumpings to add to his skill with the ball. The bowlers performed well all season with Tatenda (T) Makova’s pace claiming 13 wickets and Alex Osborne’s leg-spinning guile bringing a further 10 scalps in his debut season for the club. Tom Murray has now selected his off-spin ahead of seam bowling and his 7 wickets, including a hat-trick, further demonstrated his exciting all round talent.

It appeared as if every player could and did contribute with the ball and the likes of Riley Waters, Finn Moloney, Tom Love, Ben Healy, Will Foster, Cam Gregory, Joey Betts and Dylan van der Meulen all performed well when called upon.

There were also several outstanding batting performances that illustrated the depth of talent that included a match winning 142 run stand between Tom Murray and Menno Inverarity. Tom finished the season with 114 runs more than any of his teammates and an impressive tally of three half centuries. Joey Betts was the second most prolific member of the squad with two scores of 50 or more and Tatenda, Tom Love and Riley Waters all exceeded 100 runs for the season including a half century. There were other fine cameo performances with the bat but inconsistency and difficulty chasing totals rather than batting first saw the team fall short and struggle to win matches.

Overall, the boys developed as players and improved their skills, attitude and fitness levels. There will certainly be several players in this group who go on to play cricket for the club at a high level. A big thanks must go to the parent group for their help, but particularly to the Team Manager Nicky Sculthorpe who in addition to the other tasks of a Manager, ended up having to become a venue manager for the seven games hosted at Floreat Oval. The other key helpers were Ronan Murray and Jason Osborne who gave many hours of their time to help with coaching and player development and to support me as Coach.

Under 13s’ Report (Inverarity Shield)

This season was primarily one of experience gathering, learning and improvement for the Under 13s.

We entered the season with a relatively inexperienced group, only two of whom had played any district cricket previously. This inexperience meant we were a pretty nervous group as we embarked on our first game of the season, away at Bayswater-Morley.

What we didn’t know at the time was that the majority of the Bayswater-Morley team had been playing together for a couple of seasons and they would go on to play off in this season’s U13 Grand Final. Unfortunately, this resulted in a pretty one-sided affair which did impact our confidence somewhat.

What was extremely pleasing was that despite this difficult start, the whole squad remained very committed and enthusiastic about their cricket and we embraced the goal of improving, both as individuals and as a team, in each game we played.

For the most part, we managed to achieve that goal culminating in our best game of the season in the second last game of the year, where we enjoyed a comfortable win against Fremantle.

That win was set up by our best performance with the bat, a very creditable 152 for the loss of just 4 wickets in our allotted 40 overs. Key to this score was an excellent knock of 50 at the top of the order from Alex Beattie who was involved in two partnerships of around 60 with Blake Davies and Sam Vucak.

This was the one occasion in the season where we were able to take advantage of a solid start and meaningfully accelerate our scoring rate to post an imposing total. This is an important area for the boys to improve on next season as, while occupying the crease is important, scoring runs must be the prime objective of all batsmen and the team total must be the focus.

For the most part, our bowling group performed well during the season, evidenced by our ability to restrict most teams to scores of around 110 off their 40 overs. Notable performances with the ball included 3 for 11 off 8 overs by Julian Maceri against Midland-Guildford, 2 for 8 off 6 overs by Tim Imison against Joondalup and 2 for 11 off 7 overs by Eamonn Murray against Wanneroo.

With a full season of higher intensity training and the experience of playing at a higher level under their belts, next season presents an exciting opportunity for all of the players.

A number of this year’s squad are available to play in the U13s again next season and they should set themselves for a very successful year. For those moving on to U14s, if we can build on what we achieved this season and produce our better performances on a more regular basis, we can look forward to more team success.

It has been an extremely enjoyable season and it has been great to be back around the club. I would like to thank the kids for being a great fun group to be part of, the parents for their support throughout the season and in particularly, Kate Haynes for her efforts as our team manager.

Female A Grade Report

With a developing list of players from last season we had high hopes of being extremely competitive across both formats this season. We started the season in promising fashion in our first T20 round against the reigning premiers, Midland Guildford, with a tense 7 run victory. Special mention needs to go to Shenae Reichelt and Heather Graham for an outstanding 66 run partnership to get us to a defendable total and to our left arm seamers in Tash Farrant and Gemma Triscari for some extremely tight bowling that put the run rate up and out of reach.

We were lucky to secure the services of England International left arm seam bowler Natasha Farrant who is well renowned for swinging the ball and is damaging up front. Our attack was formidable, but unfortunately for us WNCL rounds seemed to come quick and fast disrupting our T20 line up. However, this allowed us to provide invaluable opportunities to some of our younger girls at the club. Shenae Reichelt was entrusted with the captaincy duties when Fury players were away and she did this role amazingly well for a young player. The extra responsibility translated in to Shenae’s batting where she discovered a new found confidence in her game which was on display against University when she smashed 62 (62) in round 9. She also went on to take 4 wickets @ 28.3 displaying her ability to be a genuine batting all-rounder. While wins were hard to come by, as is the format, we were able to celebrate some significant performances across the competition. Megan Banting top scored with 84 (58) in Rd 5 against Melville and in the same match I was lucky enough to get on the end of some loose bowling compiling 79 (61) with an opening stand of 177 without wicket. Heather Graham was influential with the ball, taking 9 wickets at 7.9 with a best of 3/17 (4) in Rd 9 against University. An interesting stat is Heather only played 4 T20 matches for the season but took multiple wickets each game, an outstanding effort from a player who continues to grow and develop as an all-rounder.

T20 is always a hard format to give opportunity to players and I can’t thank the girls for their patience and understanding throughout the season. It’s always difficult juggling Fury players back in to the team but I was excited to move on to the 50 over format where our biggest goal for this part of the season was to give plenty of opportunity to the young girls.

The future is bright for the young lionesses and this was evident in our new look bowling attack featuring yet another pom in Jessica Humby. Humby was outstanding up front with the new rock for us every game, her ability to swing the ball back in to the right handers caused the opposition batters a lot of troubles. She went on to take 12 wickets for the season at 16.3, with best figures of 3/17 (5) in Rd 9 against University. Emma King continued her outstanding form from WBBL which saw her take 21 scalps for the entire season, a huge reason the made it to the WBBL Final. Emma managed to take 8 wickets at 14.4 with best figures of 3/11 (7.4) in Rd 9 against University. Another bowler who is sure to feature for years to come for SFCC is Jess Emery. With limited opportunity in the T20 fixtures she certainly made up for it in the 50 over format taking 8 wickets at 26.1 with best figures of 3/19 (7) in Rd 7 against Melville. Heather Graham was another highlight taking 7 wickets at 17.9 with best figures of 3/20 (8.2) in Rd 8 against South Perth again showing her ability to adapt her game across both formats and perform when we needed her to. A special mention needs to go to Phoebe Vlahov. I’ve never seen someone play with such passion and energy which rubs off on all her team mates. Her positivity and ability to keep improving saw her take 5 wickets for the season in what I see as a long future at the club.

With a disappointing finish of 4th in both formats it would have been quick to label the season as a missed opportunity. However, short term pain for long term gain has now seen us in a position where

Season 2016/17 40th Annual Report Page 24

SUBIACO FLOREAT CRICKET CLUB (Inc.) we have over 20 girls keen and passionate about player cricket for SFCC. We have started to develop some of our younger players who will be more than capable of stepping up and performing when the senior players are away. It’s hard not to get excited about what the future holds for this team as quite clearly they do enjoy each other’s company and supporting each other on the field.

A special mention needs to go to Megan Banting and Emma King for their tireless work behind the scenes in not only providing a voice for our club but from an administration point of view making sure everything is how it should be, they are workhorses of this club and we owe them a lot. Also to Calum for his continued efforts in getting two teams up every weekend even with his own personal commitments with cricket. It’s exciting for Calum to see the amount of girls wanting to play and that was evident when we nominated a B Grade 40 over team!

A huge thankyou to SFCC and the committee for your continued investment and support in both our ladies’ teams. Although we haven’t featured in the finals in the last two seasons I believe now with a core group of players, we will look to challenge across the board next season.

Female B Grade Report

This was a highly rewarding and enjoyable season for B Grade. After registering one win in both of the previous two seasons over both competitions, this season saw four wins in the 20 over competition and three wins in the 40 over competition, finishing in fourth place and third place respectively. The team showed amazing character and enthusiasm throughout the season and it was an absolute pleasure to take the field with each and every player.

I would like to give a huge thanks to Calum How for his continuing support for B Grade – his coaching is invaluable and I would like to thank him for his time and effort over the season. I would also like to thank Shannon Alderdice who took over the captaincy from me for the second half of the season and showed incredible passion and dedication to the role.

There was some doubt as to whether we would nominate a side for the 40 over competition as we were not sure about sufficient numbers, however the girls came through in spades and we had fantastic numbers throughout the year. It was wonderful to see the junior girls start to shine with incredible performances from Sam Quadrio, Millie Monaghan, Olivia Purnell and Jacqueline Naidoo.

Standout performances with the ball included Liv Purnell 4/17 (Rd 4 v University), Lucy Curtin 2/11 (Rd 8 v Midland Guildford), Dani Vandenbok 4/17 (Rd 10 v Melville), Kell McGhie 3/8 (Rd 4 v University), Sam Quadrio 2/7 (Rd 4 v University), Kell McGhie 2/4 (Rd 8 v South Perth) and Sam Quadrio 2/3 (Rd 10 v Midland Guildford).

Standout performances with the bat included Sophie Fletcher 37no (Rd 3 v Midland Guildford), Lucy Curtin 46no (Rd 7 v Rockingham Mandurah), Dani Vandenbok 36no (Rd 4 v University), Sam McClurg 33 (Rd 7 v Melville) and Emily Johnston 71 (Rd 8 v South Perth).

I look forward to next season and foresee even greater improvement for 2017/2018!

SUBIACO FLOREAT CRICKET CLUB (Inc.)

Club History The Subiaco Floreat Cricket Club was formed in 1977 when the Subiaco and Floreat Park clubs merged.

1900 to 1949 A cricket club in the Subiaco area was first formed in 1896 and played in the Senior Matting Association based at the Shenton Park Lake ground. In 1907-08 the Subiaco Club was admitted to the WACA A Grade competition but after two seasons were relegated to B Grade. During this time the Club moved to the newly developed Mueller Park in Subiaco where at the western end (later Subiaco Oval) they shared the playing fields with the Subiaco Football Club.

In the 1910-11 season, Subiaco combined with fellow B Grade team; Whittaker’s and was re-admitted to A Grade as the Subiaco Cricket Club. The following season Subiaco merged with the neighbouring Leederville club to form the Subiaco-Leederville Cricket Club and played under this name until 1930-31, when they reverted to Subiaco Cricket Club.

By this time Mueller Parker had been renamed Subiaco Oval and from 1929-30 the Club enjoyed sustained success winning six premierships in the 17 seasons until 1946-47. Many Subiaco players from this era represented , in the days before WA was admitted into the Sheffield Shield competition. Future Prime Minister, R.J. Hawke, played for the Club in the post-war years.

1950 to 1977 The Subiaco Club did not enjoy team success during the 1950’s and 1960’s finishing runner-up twice and making the finals one other time. The highlight for the Club from this era was Jack Rutherford being the first Western Australian to be selected for Australia on a major tour and the first to be capped when he was included in the Australian side which visited England, India, and Pakistan in 1956. Rutherford’s single test was against India in Bombay.

In 1965-66 the Subiaco Club left Subiaco Oval and moved to Rosalie Park on the west side of Thomas Street. Jim Hubble became the Club’s second Australian representative, touring South Africa in the summer of 1966-67, playing in nine matches, but not in the Tests. During the 1960’s former England player Tony Lock played for the Club.

The Floreat Park Cricket Club was formed in the post-war years. In the 1959-60 season, Floreat Park was admitted into the WACA completion as a 2nd Grade club fielding teams in the lower grades only. Talented Floreat Park juniors seeking to play 1st Grade invariably moved to the neighbouring Subiaco Club. Notable Floreat Park juniors who made the move to Subiaco were Kim Hughes, Terry Alderman and Sam Gannon who all played Tests for Australia.

The recruitment of former Australian player Des Hoare as Captain-Coach in the late 1960’s saw the Subiaco Club play in the finals four times in seven years, winning Premierships in 1971-72 and 1973-74. However while the Subiaco Club was competitive at 1st Grade level, a small district and declining junior player numbers saw the Subiaco Club merge with the 2nd Grade Floreat Park Club. The Club was named Subiaco Floreat Cricket Club and commenced playing in the 1977-78 season.

The last match played between the two clubs was the 1976-77 4th grade grand final where the Subiaco 4th’s captained by future President Larry Davies triumphed.

The amalgamation was a true merger with administrators and players from both Clubs sharing the roles. The new Club’s headquarters was Floreat Oval, with Rosalie Park retained as the second ground (until 1981) along with Floreat’s Alderbury Street Reserve. Subiaco’s Lion emblem and gold and maroon colours were combined with the royal blue of Floreat Park, but there was no room for the Floreat Park grey.

1977 to 1999 WA Parliamentarian Ray Young was the inaugural President and Jim Hubble the inaugural Captain of Subiaco Floreat and Terry Alderman returned to Floreat Oval but the first season did not bring instant success. During the following three season the Club were runners-up twice and semi-finalists once, as well as being Club Champions in 1978-79. All-rounder, Graeme Porter played for Australia in the 1979 World Cup.

1st grade success was finally achieved in the 1987-88 where a strong squad including Test players Terry Alderman and Tom Hogan alongside present or future 1st class players Giles Bush, Todd Breman, Peter Gonnella and Glenn Hughes won the first 1st grade flag for the amalgamated Club and the ninth overall.

In 1983-84 future cricket broadcaster Glenn Mitchell, captained the Colts undefeated for nine matches to capture the Club’s first Colts Premiership.

The 1980’s decade was overall successful, in addition to the 1st grade and Colts, the Club also won a 2nd grade and a 3rd grade flag, while the 4ths won a hat-trick of flags under the wily leadership of club stalwart Alan Bolton.

The 1990’s were fairly lean for the 1st grade with only three final appearances. However this decade saw the debut of Bunbury junior, Murray Goodwin, who would go on to play for his native Zimbabwe. In 1990-91 all four senior sides qualified for the finals and the Club was once again Club Champion. The lower grades continued to be successful in this decade, the 2nds and 4ths both won two flags each as did the Colts. The 1997-98 Colts were captained by Steven Glew in his first of seven Premierships for the Club.

2000 onwards The 21st Century began with a bang. Under the inspiring leadership of fast bowler Gavin Swan, the 1st grade team won three successive premierships from 2000-01. The 1sts competed in the finals in eight times in the first decade of the new century. The dominance of the 1st grade team in this period saw the Club also claim the Club Championship in successive seasons 2000-01 and 2001-02. The Colts added three more flags to their collection, while the 3rds with two flags and the 4ths with one continued the success of the lower grade teams. In the One Day Sunday League competition, the Club finally found a winning formula, winning titles in 2004-05 and 2008-09.

Success continued into the 2010’s. Under David Bolton the 1st grade did the “double”, winning both the Pennant competition and the One Day League in 2010-11. The following season, the Club finished runners-up after losing a close grand final. The 1st grade bowling attack was particularly strong with fast bowlers Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jason Behrendorff operating. Coulter-Nile has gone on to represent both WA and Australia while Behrendorff debuted for WA in 2011.

The 3rd grade won a flag in 2012-13 and in the following season with Noel Knight returning to the Club as Head Coach the 1st grade once again won the Sunday League Championship

2014/15 saw the Club expand when the local WA Female Cricket Council A and B grade teams elected to join Subiaco Floreat. It was a homecoming of sorts, as back in the 1970’s the Subiaco men’s and women’s cricket clubs shared the facilities at Rosalie Park. The ladies made an immediate impact, winning the T20 final at the WACA ground.

Season 2016-17 saw Chris Hansberry lead the First Grade team to a premiership, with gritty victories against top teams Fremantle and Claremont in the semi-finals before a memorable victory over Joondalup in the grand final. Cameron Green also made his debut for Western Australia.
