For our Republic to run properly, the election of public officials must be trusted by voters. After the most recent presidential election, people in Michigan have lost trust and felt alienated by the irregularities of our voting process. Countless individuals have expressed their concerns in the aftermath of the 2020 General Election because they feel it is in the best interest of the state to investigate issues that have arisen, to prevent further issues in future elections. The Secretary of State created a system ripe for fraud by illegally relaxing the signature verification process and sending out absentee ballot applications unsolicited. It is because of these concerns, and many others, that a full, independent, and non-partisan forensic audit of the 2020 General Election is critical to the people of Michigan, to restore faith in the election process. We have found it concerning that your office has initiated an investigation into prosecuting individuals who, you seem to speculate, have profiteered by making statements about the accuracy and fairness of the election process in Michigan, which, you seem to speculate, were intentionally dishonest. A criminal investigation is a serious matter, only to be pursued on the basis of probable cause or at the very least, reasonable suspicion. By attempting to read the mind of an individual to infer criminal intention, you have effectively chilled the free speech of every citizen.

The artist is unknown. The drawing predates the placement of the statue of Austin T. Blair on the capitol grounds in 1898. (Michigan State Archives) PAGE GRAPHICS Capitol Dome: The architectural rendering of the Michigan State Capitol’s dome is the work of Elijah E. Myers, the building’s renowned architect. Myers inked the rendering on linen in late 1871 or early 1872. Myers’ fine draftsmanship, the hallmark of his work, is clearly evident. Because of their size, few architectural renderings of the 19th century have survived. Michigan is fortunate that many of Myers’ designs for the Capitol were found in the building’s attic in the 1950’s. As part of the state’s 1987 sesquicentennial celebration, they were conserved and deposited in the Michigan State Archives. Steenland (H.B. 4744) Representative Jim Lilly (H.B. 4745) Representative Roger Hauck (H.B. 4746) House Committee: Regulatory Reform Senate Committee: Regulatory Reform CONTENT House Bill 4517 (H-4) would amend the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA) to do the following: -- Define "THC" and modify the definitions of "industrial hemp" and "marihuana". -- Require the Marijuana Regulatory Agency (MRA) to promulgate a limit on the total amount of THC that a product intended for human or animal consumption could contain. -- Allow the MRA to promulgate rules to exclude from the definition of THC a tetrahydrocannabinol if the MRA determined, based on specified factors, that it did not have a potential for abuse. House Bill 4740 (H-1) would amend the Medical Marihuana Facilities Licensing Act to modify the definitions of "industrial hemp", "marihuana", and "marihuana-infused product" as those terms would be defined in the MRTMA (which House Bill 4517 (H-4) would amend).
