When you are first working with Metatron, you will only get a taste of his energy because more of it would be overwhelming. Metatron: Invoking the Angel of Gods Presence is extremely powerful. Metatron can magically transform situations and even your whole life. He has been depicted as being seated on the throne right next to God. Metatron is prominent in the Kabbalah, a system of Jewish mysticism. In Kabbalah, Metaton oversees the Tree of Life and its teachings. Metatron is known as the keeper and scribe of the Akashic Records, the sacred records of everything that happens throughout the universe. His link to the Akashic Records links him to the Egyptian god, Thoth. Metatron lived on earth as the prophet Enoch, who is mentioned in the Bible in the book of Genesis. The Book of Enoch, which is not accepted as part of the recognised Bible, reports that God transformed the prophet Enoch into the angel Metatron. He looks after a tribe of Lightworkers and regularly upgrades their energy with the latest light frequencies. His vision of Earth is one of peace, harmony and love. He is helping to achieve this on a global scale. He is most concerned with upgrading our personal energy systems to be able to receive more light, and thus, more happiness. The energy Metatron works with is called Metatronic Energy. This term describes both his involvement and the energy of the Metatronic frequency, which is transformational. Andrei A. Orlov Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI USA The Face as the Heavenly Counterpart of the Visionary in the Slavonic Ladder of Jacob [published in: Of Scribes and Sages (ed. C. Evans; London: T&T Clark/Continuum, 2004) 59-76] Introduction The book of Genesis portrays Jacob as someone who not only saw God but also wrestled with Him. Jacob’s visionary experiences begin in Gen. 28 where he sees in a dream the ladder on which the angels of God are ascending and descending. Above the ladder Jacob beholds the Lord. The distinct feature of the Bethel account is the paucity of theophanic imagery. Despite the fact that the vision is linked with the celestial realm (“ladder’s top reaching to heaven”), which is labeled in the story as “the awesome place”, “the house of God”, and “the gate of heaven”, the narrative does not offer any descriptions of God’s celestial court or His appearance. Instead we have the audible revelation of God, His lengthy address to Jacob with promises and blessings. God appears again to Jacob in Gen. 32. While the narrative stresses the importance of the vision of God (the account claims that Jacob “saw God face to face” and even called the place of wrestling Peniel/Penuel - “The Face of God”), it focuses its description on Jacob’s wrestling with God rather than his seeing of God. The reference to the motif of God’s Face (which plays an important role in a number of Biblical theophanic accounts)1 and to Jacob’s seeing of God “face to face” could however indicate that the authors or editors of Jacob’s account might be cognizant of the broader anthropomorphic theophanic debates in which the motif of God’s Face2 1 See for example Exod.

NOTES AND STUDIES THE SEVEN ARCHANGELS AND THE SEVEN SPIRITS: A STUDY IN THE ORIGIN, DEVELOPEMENT, AND MESSIANIC ASSOCIATIONS OF THE TWO THEMES. IN a former study 1 I advanced the theory that there were two chief schools of Messianic doctrine in Jewry, ( 1) that which looked for the coming of the Angel of Yahweh, and (2) that which expected a Spirit endowed man, in the office of Messiah. The former school made use of Babylonian imagery to clothe its predictions of the Angel; the latter expressly avoided the use of it. Thus the presence or absence of this imagery is a distinguishing mark of the predictions of the two schools. The following study applies the general theory to the two themes of the Seven Archangels and the Seven Spirits. Both themes, as will be shewn, originated during the exile ; but whereas the school which originated and developed the doctrine of Archangels made the fullest use of Babylonian ideas, the other school explicitly rejected B.abylo nianism. The two schools of thought thus shew the same differentiation throughout their history : they were in opposition in regard to ( 1) the existence and office of the Messianic Angel, (2) the existence and func tions of angels, and (3) the employment of Babylonian ideas and terms in the doctrines of Yahwism. All these three the former school accepted, and the latter school rejected because it jealously taught the m~st rigid form of monotheism. • It is not the case, therefore, that the doctrine of the Seven Spirits differs from that of the Seven Archangels simply in terminology, as some scholars suggest.

  • Intertextuality in the Book of Jubilees
Intertextuality in the Book of Jubilees Pieter M Venter Department of Old Testament Studies University of Pretoria Abstract Intertextuality in the Book of Jubilees The second century BCE Book of Jubilees presents the contents of Genesis-Exodus in a new form. This article studies the techniques used in Jubilees 23. It indicates how Psalm 90:10 was used to link the death of Abraham to a declining-inclining scheme of longevity. This scheme was then combined with a heptadic jubilee scheme. To this the author added a Deuteronomistic retributive scheme of sin- punishment-repentance-salvation. On this combination an apocal- yptic framework was finally superimposed. 1. INTRODUCTION The Book of Jubilees belongs to the pseudepigrapha. It is part of the Ethiopian Canon. The book has only survived in its entirety in classical Ethiopic (Ge’ez). It enjoyed canonical status in the Abyssinian Church and later among the Falashas (the black Jews of Ethiopia). It was probably rendered into Ethiopic very early in the Christian history of that land, perhaps 500 AD (cf VanderKam 1985:112). It was originally written in Hebrew during the middle of the second century BCE. Fragments of the book were found in 18 manuscripts in the caves at Qumran. The oldest of these comes from approximately 100 BCE (cf VanderKam 1985:115). The book is in essence a re-writing of the materials in Genesis-Exodus 19. It was classified by Vermez as “Rewritten Bible”, one of the “parabiblical writings” (Trebolle-Barrera 2000:102), in which we find “rewriting with intent and purpose in mind” (Endres 1987:15).

  • Angel of the LORD
Angel of the LORD WHO IS THE ANGEL OF THE LORD? Although not all scholars agree, the following brief Scriptural survey would support the premise that the Angel of the LORD is (1) supernatural, (2) is God (3) and is not a created angel. The determination of which member of the Trinity the Angel represents is less clear but most conservative, evangelical sources interpret the Angel of the LORD as the the second member of the Trinity, representing a pre-incarnate manifestation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Angel in both Hebrew (malak) and Greek (aggelos or angelos) means a messenger and Jesus as the Word of God (Jn 1:1; Re 19:13-note) is the ultimate Messenger sent from the Father with a message of the good news of God's covenant love for sinful mankind... Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle (apostéllo = send from apo = from + stello = send) and High Priest of our confession. (He 3:1-note) (An apostle is defined as one sent out on a mission or orders or commission and with the authority of the one who sent him) MALACHI 3 THE MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT In Malachi Jehovah Sabaoth, the LORD of hosts promised... Behold, I am going to send My messenger (Hebrew = malak = one sent on business or diplomacy by another; LXX = aggelos/angelos one sent to tell or bring a message, to announce or proclaim = transliterated "angel" and in context referring to John the Baptist, as affirmed by Jesus Himself in Lk 7:27) and he (John the Baptist) will clear the way before Me (the LORD of hosts) and the Lord (Hebrew = adon, LXX = referring in context to the Messiah), Whom you seek, will suddenly (Hebrew = pitom = unexpectedly, surprisingly, all of a sudden - somewhat an ironic word here because the Jews should have known the day of His visitation according to Lk 19:44), which they could have known by studying Da 9:24, 25, 26, 27 {see notes Da 9:24; 25; 26; 9:27}) come to His temple and the MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT, (Malak = "Angel"; and thus the "Angel of the Covenant") in Whom you delight, behold, He is coming," says the LORD of hosts.

  • St. Andrew's Stained Glass
St. Andrew's Stained Glass Stained glass windows have been used in churches since the 10th century and are an outgrowth of the use of mosaics in the early churches. But it is only with the introduction of the Gothic style of architecture in the 12th century that the art came to it's maturity. As Gothic churches became taller and lighter, and the walls thinned, stained glass was used to fill the increasingly larger openings. The original use of stained glass was to bring into what had been dark naves in Romanesque churches the brilliance of heavenly light; a foretaste of heaven. By the 15th century the scenes and figures that made up these windows became more prominent, performing another function in bringing the stories of the Bible and message of the Gospel to a largely illiterate population. Given that most of the clergy of the time were indifferent preachers, these windows provided the preaching of the Gospel in a manner understandable to people regardless of their tongue or level of education. While the fine art of homiletics is significantly more widespread among our clergy today, stained glass windows continue to bring us rays of heavenly light and tell the story of the saints and the Gospel. St. Andrew's arrangement of windows is unusual inasmuch as it tells a continuous story of the life of Christ, beginning with the Annunciation and ending with Pentecost. Pictures of the Archangels, Saints from the New Testament and Prophets from the Old Testament flank each of the events in Christ's life.

Bogdan G. Bucur 1. SCHOLARSHIP ON THE OLD TESTAMENT ROOTS OF TRINITARIAN THEOLOGY Blind Spots and Blurred Vision Introduction In what follows, I offer two critical observations on scholarly treatments of the emergence of Trinitarian theology in early Christianity. I discuss, first, the hypothesis that the early Christian appropriation of the Old Testament, especially of biblical theophanies, led, in a first stage, to the formation of “binitarian monotheism,” followed later by the full-blown Trinitarianism that would constitute the classic position of the church. It seems to me that this ac count is emblematic for the type of problems associated with the entire proj ect of giving a scholarly account of early Trinitarian doctrine. The second part of the essay will examine some of the biblical texts that have played an import ant role in the articulation of early Trinitarian theology—namely. Genesis i8, Isaiah 6, and Habakkuk 3:2 (LXX). My thesis is that the exegetical, doctrinal, hymnographic, and iconographie productions that illustrate the reception history of these texts offer a variety of exegetical approaches, which, however, are not adequately distinguished by the current scholarly concepts. 30 BOGDAN G. BUCUR Is Binitarian Monotheism a First Step toward Trinitarian Theology? Scholars of early Christianity such as Gilles Quispel, Jarl Possum, Alan Se gal, Larry Hurtado, Daniel Boyarin, and Richard Bauckham often note that Christian worship and theological reflection in the early centuries are character ized by a “binitarian” pattern.’ Although the terms vary in scholarship—“relative dualism,” “binitarian dualism,” “complementary dualism,” “Jewish ‘two-power’ traditions,” “heterodox Jewish binitarianism,” or, more recendy, “dyadic devo tional pattern”—the point is to conceptualize the early Christian worship of Je sus as Lord and God within the context of continued exclusive devotion to the Lord God of Israel.

  • Moses' Heavenly Counterpart in the Book of Jubilees and the Exagoge of Ezekiel the Tragedian
Moses’ Heavenly Counterpart in the Book of Jubilees and the Exagoge of Ezekiel the Tragedian “He told us — all the angels of the presence ... to keep sabbath with him in heaven and on earth” (Jub 2,18) One of the enigmatic characters in the Book of Jubilees is the angel of the presence who dictates to Moses heavenly revelation. The book provides neither the angel’s name nor a clear picture of his celestial roles and offices. Complicating the picture is the angel’s arrogation, in certain passages of the text, of “what in the Bible are words or deeds of God”(1). In Jub 6,22, for example, the angel utters the following: For I have written (this) in the book of the first law in which I wrote for you that you should celebrate it at each of its times one day in a year. I have told you about its sacrifice so that the Israelites may continue to remember and celebrate it throughout their generations during this month – one day each year(2). James VanderKam observes that according to these sentences “the angel of the presence wrote the first law, that is, the Pentateuch, including the section about the Festival of Weeks in the cultic calendars (Lev 23,15-21 and Num 28,26-31, where the sacrifices are specified)”(3). VanderKam further notes that “these passages are represented as direct revelations by God to Moses in Leviticus and Numbers, not as statements from an angel”(4). In Jub 30,12, which retells and modifies Gen 34, the angel’s authorial claim is repeated again: For this reason I have written for you in the words of the law everything that the Shechemites did to Dinah and how Jacob’s sons said: “We will not give our daughter to a man who has a foreskin because for us that would be a disgraceful thing”(5).
