Keywords : Film Adaptation, Reduction, Addition, Modification. The film adaptation is the process of adapting a novel into a film. The emergence of the novel adaptation phenomenon into the film form is a substantial change of discourse that rises the term of a film adaptation. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters novel is an excellent best-selling novel which is good to be adapted into a film. The novel and film are the second edition of Percy Jackson and the Olympians series after Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Nowadays, the adaptation process is becoming essential to be analyzed because the adaptation process can give the interpretation and comparison between the novel and film. The method uses in this study are literary criticism and film study. The data sources in this study are Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters novel by Rick Riordan and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters film by Thor Freudenthal. This research focussed on the processes, methods, and effects of the adaptation theory. In analyzing this topic, the writer used film adaptation theory from Eneste Pamusuk and focussed on the plot and setting of the novel and film. The result of this study shows that there has been a reduction, addition, and modification/variation in the plot and setting of the film. The sequence of the plot in the film Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters underwent many changes. In the process of adapting the plot, the writer

Nombreux étaient ceux qui pensaient que les auteurs naturalistes écrivaient de la littérature pornographique sous le couvert de prétentions scientifiques. Aussi Zola eut-il à lutter toute sa vie contre sa réputation lascive. Au Portugal, Eça de Queirós en vint à reconnaitre qu’il était inutile de se battre contre la perception généralisée selon laquelle la fiction naturaliste était malpropre et ordurière. L’éditeur anglais de Zola fut jugé et reconnu coupable de traduire et vendre des romans naturalistes français. Au Brésil, les périodiques rapportèrent ces incidents en reproduisant des colonnes de journaux et en répandant des jugements qu’ils s’étaient souvent appropriés.     The Language and Genealogy of Early Spy Cinema By Lukasz Boron Fall 2010 Issue of KINEMA THE LANGUAGE AND GENEALOGY OF EARLY SPY CINEMA: 1919-1959 Abstract The following paper is a genre-specific study of early spy cinema that traces the language and genealogy of the genre from its conception to its modernity, in the films of Hitchcock, Reed, Wilder, Huston, and Fuller. Focusing on American and German film tradition, this paper examines espionage cinema from 1919-1959. The origins of the hero are briefly examined through a historical framework that traces his lineage and literary sources of influence to: epic poetry and Byronism, mythology, folklore, legend, oral tradition and early espionage literature. The impetus of this study is the representational and ideological analysis of several recurring motifs - or signifiers - within the spy genre, namely: (a) the domesticated spy-agent, (b) the active investigator and passive detective as spy, (c) the fugitive spy, or agent in flight, (d) the double agent or domestic informer, and (e) the fated female agent. The scholarly research and theoretical framework upon which this paper is grounded references the works of: Kingsley Amis, Alan Booth, Wesley Britton, Patricia Craig and Mary Cadogan, Michael Denning, Ian Fleming, Bruce Merry, Toby Miller, John Pearson, David Trotter, Wesley Wark, and Robin Wood. Introduction: A Brief History Published in 1953 by renowned British novelist Ian Fleming, Casino Royale introduced the modern literary world to Bondian espionage fiction, thereafter influencing a series of films that continue to remain amainstay in the canon of spy cinema for nearly half a century.
