MTR Enhances Non-Peak Hour Train Service on Five Railway Lines

MTR Corporation is committed to bringing convenience to passengers. During the pandemic, normal train services during weekdays peak hours have been maintained. As for train services during non-peak hours, the Corporation has been closely monitoring the operations of the railway lines and making adjustments accordingly. In view of the government’s latest measures against the pandemic including the time extension of dine-in services at restaurants, the Corporation will enhance services during certain non-peak hour periods on weekends on five railway lines (Island Line, , Tseung Kwan O Line, and ) starting from 20 February 2021 (Saturday) to cater for a possible increase in patronage. The Corporation will also monitor the operations of the railway lines during non-peak hours on weekdays and will make respective train regulation to meet passenger needs.

In this round of service enhancements for the five railway lines, train frequency will be enhanced from 7am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm respectively on weekends and public holidays. For the Island Line and Tsuen Wan Line, the most frequent train trips will be maintained at around 3- minute intervals. Please refer to the annex for details of the service enhancements.

Besides, in light of the re-opening of Disneyland Park, train frequency on the during peak hours on the opening days of the park will be enhanced to an interval of ten minutes starting from tomorrow (19 February). The service on the Disneyland Resort Line will be maintained at an interval of 20 minutes during other periods of service hours.

The Corporation will continue to monitor closely the operations of railway lines, maintain sufficient carrying capacity to meet the passenger demand, and adjust train service when necessary.
