Archie Thompson Archie Thompson Bravo Management Pty Ltd Level 5, 111 Coventry Street Southbank VIC 3006 E: [email protected] P: (03) 8825 6641 (direct) Archie Thompson is Australian soccer royalty who spent the majority of his career as an integral part of the Melbourne Victory FC where he scored 97 goals for the Victory in over 262 appearances. Born in New Zealand, Thompson played youth football at the New South Wales Institute of Sport before going on to play numerous seasons in the National Soccer League and A- League. After eleven seasons with Melbourne Victory, he moved on to play for Heidelberg United in 2016. Thompson also played overseas, for Belgian Pro League side Lierse and for Dutch Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven. The former Socceroo has played over 50 times for Australia, scoring 28 goals. He was in the squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the 2001 and 2005 FIFA Confederations Cups, the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, the 2008 Summer Olympics and the successful 2004 OFC Nations Cup. Thompson’s 13-goal haul against American Samoa in 2001 remains an international record. Archie is by far one of Australia’s greatest soccer players who has worked hard to forge a media career, taking on a role with Fox Sports as a key commentator on Fox Sports A- League coverage. He has also written and published a book, “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger”, full of inspirational anecdotes where he shares his love of the game and his family through the highs and the lows. In 2020 Archie will pull on his boots once again as he plays for the Essendon Royals Soccer Club. Thompson’s signing coincides with the 13-year anniversary of his five-goal haul for Melbourne Victory in the 2007 A-League Grand Final against Adelaide United - a feat which remains unmatched in Australia’s top-flight. Archie has joined Football Star Academy as a franchisee and ambassador. The Football Star Academy purpose is to “create a movement of change for tomorrow’s grassroots leaders”, giving children aged from five years old a professional and fun learning environment. Archie is an ambassador for Polished Man in 2020, an organisation raising awareness to end violence against children. Archie has two children, Isabella and Axel, and bears one tattoo on each of his inner forearms of his children’s names. • Brunswick Zebras FC Annual Report 2018
Brunswick Zebras FC Annual Report 2018 Season 2018 President’s Report 2018 2018 has been another successful year. This is an election year and it is important that the members of the club renew the Club Committee so we can meet the challenges ahead. I would like to thank our club sponsors: L’Unico coffee, Stomping Ground, and Ausnet have supported the club and ensured we had decent coffee and beer at club events. I would also like to thank Melbourne Victory and their support, which has given our kids a chance to taste and participate in the big games We appreciate all the support that all our sponsors provide. We are always after more sponsors big and small to support our club. Over the last few years as a Club, we have invested time and money into our facilities and grounds with the support of Moreland Council. As a result, we have continued to realise real improvements. We have renovated the change rooms at Balfe and built a new kitchen, new lights have been installed at Sumner Park funded by the State Government, and new goal posts and coaches’ boxes have installed. These improvements should continue with the new committee. The next major endeavour we believe is necessary is the construction of new change rooms and an upgrade of our pavilion at Sumner Park. We are master planning the improved facility with the assistance of Isabel Legge, who is both an architect and one of our women team’s coaches. We are going to try to fund the renovation with financial support from Local and State Government, our own resources and possibly a contribution from a private donor.
