Week 4 Wrap Up Well another week has streaked past us! The time seems to fly as quickly as the students are growing before our eyes. I have finally been able to get out to all campuses this week, and it has been great to see all of the students, as well the koala at Strathbogie and Baddaginnie Bob the magpie. This week we are all settling into the normal routines of school and there is a lovely positive ‘vibe’ across the college.

Parents Need to Communicate with Teachers We know it can be hard to find pencil and paper, send that email or text BUT parents are legally required to provide schools with notice for a child’s absence – planned or unplanned. For us, that means parents CAN: speak with a classroom teacher directly (avoiding class times), write a note in their child’s homework folder or communication book, email the classroom teacher, leave a message on the campus answering machine or call/text the campus mobile - 0427 501 731 Pauline is not the person to pass messages on to teachers – her role in the mornings is bus driver and then to prepare for her second role on arrival. If there is a change to bus travel plans, again use the campus phone to inform school. This is very important because Pauline in not always driving the bus.

Parent - Teacher Meetings We are holding 10-mi nute meetings in weeks 6 and 7. These are to allow for general talk about settling in, routines and possible areas to provide further

support at home (for you and your child). Please compete and return ASAP.

Lunch Orders We are looking to start Friday lunch orders at Swanpool in Term 2 so watch for a 2020 order listing in the next few weeks.

Have a great weekend, Dianne, Pauline, Princess Robbie, Barb and Kate

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Can you drop a load of old tech from either campus to Landfill on Old Farnley Road? They are open 12pm-4pm daily and would free up HEAPS of space. Please speak with Kate.

Violet Town School Voice

Another week has passed us by at Violet Town. This week saw the students undertake a normal timetable, which allowed them to see when they would have different classes and how each day of the week would run. The students did extremely well, with how the weeks will be running for the rest of the year.

In the Junior Room, students this week have been learning about the letter I, with the spelling word for the Foundation students being Tin and the 1/2 students being ‘I’ as in tin. Students have also being working hard in Maths learning about 2D shapes. In Reading this week, the students have been working hard to understand how our literacy rotations will work.

In the Senior Room, in Maths the students were working on place value, writing numbers as words, expanded numbers and even looking at roman numerals. Students also started working on predicting in reading lessons, with one of the more popular activities being the Y chart prediction, where they have to predict what happened before during and after an event.

This week saw both grades start their inquiry topic for the term. This term we are looking at living things and their environment. This particular topic lends its self to cooking and gardening which the students do on Wednesday afternoons. This week for gardening and cooking, we had a visit for some of Miss Johnson’s chickens.

The Campus Captains have been talking to students who are interested in being on Junior School Council this week, with Junior School Council to be starting in the coming weeks and students finding out who will be representative of their classes.

Congratulations to all the senior students who represented the school while participating in the District Swimming Sports on Wednesday at Euroa. And good luck next Thursday to those who made it through to Division.

Reminders:  Next week Parent Teacher Interviews on Tuesday and Thursday.  Zooper Dooper Friday 50cent  Pancake Tuesday – Gold Coin Donation. Students can wear yellow clothing to school for the Pancake Event, if they have any.  Local Excursion Permission forms to be returned by TUESDAY  White envelopes with forms to be retuned ASAP

2020 Swimming Program….

Congratulations to all students and staff for their wonderful efforts during our Peranbin Primary College Swimming program for 2020. It was rewarding to see how much all the swimmers had improved when compared to last year’s program. Of course, a big thanks to your teachers that ably assisted our swimming program. Great job everyone! A team of swimmers were selected to represent the College based on their competent swimming techniques demonstrated throughout their lessons. This year saw some of the younger students step up and experience the District sports for the first time. We had a few late changes to the entries on the day due to some illnesses. Young Audrey Anderson from the Strathbogie campus, at her first district sports event, even filled a spot in the 12/13 year old girls relay team! Thank you to the families and supporters that came along to cheer on our Peranbin kids. Next week we have 8 students filling 11 spots at the Division Swimming Sports at the Division level and we wish them all the best 

Euroa and District Badminton Association

EDBA are hitting off for the 2020 season with practise/grading nights to be held at the stadium at the Euroa Secondary College on Monday the 2nd and 9th of March (yes, that’s the Monday of the long weekend). Everyone is welcome, practice to start at 7:00pm.

Competition is to begin on the 16th of March and games will commence each Monday at 7pm. Fees: Adults $100, students/juniors $80 and if three or members play from the same family, there is a discount of $10 per player. There is also an early bird discount of $10 if fees are paid by the end of April and a payment plan can be arranged. There are also a couple of courts free for junior coaching or for those just wanting an odd hit - $2 / night / player.

The association this year is again going to conduct a raffle for fundraising from the 16th of May through to the 6th of June – some great prizes on offer; and will again man the rotary barbeque at the Euroa Farmers Market – on the 20th of June. The fundraising assists with keeping the membership costs down so every bit of help counts.

The association is again going to run an encouragement award with the prize being a new racquet to the value of $100. This is not necessarily for the best and fairest but for a player who commits to playing each week, turns up on time, encourages all those in the competition etc.

We look forward to seeing everyone back and welcoming new members.

For more information please see the Euroa and district badminton association Facebook page, or contact Shae Van Der Schoor [email protected] or 0412 576 380 or Brent Moore on 0423 863 442.
