I was feeling raw and exposed and hoped just 'getting it all out' would be therapeutic. And, it was. Sitting on a tour bus with little to do, I found myself writing two or three thousand words a day. It didn’t occur to me until I’d written fifty or sixty thousand that my story might be helpful to others who need encouragement in pursuing their dreams and for those struggling with addiction. I sent that first draft to my dad who said, 'No parent wants to read about his son’s sex, drugs and Rock ‘n Roll exploits,' but he said there might be some benefit in sharing it with others, so he agreed to help me with revisions. What had begun as a way to help process my own 'stuff,' has resulted in the publication of Death Punch’d—Surviving Five Finger Death Punch’s Metal Mayhem. At first, I was apprehensive about the reaction I’d get from having the 'arrogance' to think anyone would want to read about my life. However, that initial apprehension has been replaced by knowing that if my story can help even one person, whatever criticism I might receive will pale in comparison. I’m not proud of many of the episodes in the book, but the person I was, under the influence, is not who I choose to be. A heartbeat away from death, I chose life. So, more than anything, I think Death Punch’d is a reflection of how far one can fall and still find a way back, a way to accomplish goals and dreams and more important...a way to live. I’d be the last person to say it’s easy. But, I’d be the first person to say there’s always hope." Spencer has committed a percentage of his personal income from the book to support NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, which represents the professional interests of more than 75,000 addiction counselors, educators and other addiction-focused health care professionals in the United States, Canada and abroad. ABOUT JEREMY SPENCER : Five Finger Death Punch drummer and band co-founder Jeremy Spencer's rise to fame is a story of diligence and perseverance. Born in Oakland City, IN on January 8, 1973, Spencer shares a birthday with Elvis Presley and David Bowie. At age 6, after seeing the cover of a KISS record, Spencer became fixated on the drums and his grandmother bought him an $80 kit from Sears. Over the next decade, he learned to play by ear, while performing snare in the Boonville High School Marching Band from sixth grade through high school. At 19, he left Indiana, emigrating from the Midwest to Oceanside, CA where his dreams remained unfulfilled. He moved to Franklin, TN, where he enjoyed a short tenure with a country act, but soon thereafter returned to Los Angeles where while playing in various area metal bands he answered an advertisement guitarist Zoltan Bathory had placed. But one of my favorites we’re good at- partying. Although closing bars are a thing of the past for me (thank you wife and children), I manage to get my fun time in with a few cold beers on my regular days off. But there’s a limit. How much is too much? At what point does it go from casual and social drinking to problematic and disturbing. Anyone that wears a badge knows what goes on in the world. From dealing with decay of society to working odd hours, there are more than enough reasons to grab a beer after a tour of duty. Sometimes that does go too far. If the only way you cope with a stressful day is to drink alcohol and it’s affecting the people you love most, you may need help. I boasted to a couple of officers in our department about how I landed an interview with a rock star, founding drummer of Five Finger Death Punch Jeremy Spencer. I told them that the focus of the interview was his rehab stints due to his drug and alcohol addiction. They each responded with, “oh yeah, I went to rehab too.” It was a sobering moment and a stark reminder of the seriousness of this issue.

I merely assume that over the years I must’ve met at least a handful of cops that never have a drink. I’m 42 years old, and now I know several cops that don’t drink…anymore. Those cop friends of mine battled alcoholism and it nearly destroyed them. The pattern should sound very familiar to you: After you graduate the academy you start dealing with criminals, have a few drinks to unwind, stress mounts up, and repeat. This was all before today’s volatile climate of anti-police sentiment sweeping the nation. Just donning the uniform today will get you hateful glances and menacing stares. Who wouldn’t want a drink after a tour of duty right now? And that is a common scenario for us. Ils y ont vendus plusieurs millions d'albums, le dernier « Got You Six » a été N°2 dès sa sortie (500 000 exemplaires écoulés). D'autres pays (N°3 Finlande,N°3 Canada ,N° 5 Allemagne et Suisse) ont succombé à leur Heavy Métal parfois trash mais non dénué de finesse ( comme ici le très beau « Gone Away » cover de The Offspring). C'est bien fait et assez mélodique comme « Wash It all Away » , »Wrong Side Of Heaven » ou » « I Apologize », Malgré quelques poussées « métalcore » du chanteur Ivan Moody l'ensemble se laisse très bien écouter grâce à une belle richesse des compositions. Les « The Bleeding », l'inédit« Trouble » en sont la parfaite illustration heavy mais avec une bonne trame mélodique, les « Remember Everything », »Battle Born » me font penser à du très bon Nickelback. La power ballade « Far from Home »est particulièrement réussie. Un Excellent best of pour un très bon groupe . Ce « Decade of Destruction » est rentré dans pas mal de charts : USA N° 29 Suède N°45,Canada N°30,Allemagne N°36,Australie N° 30, Autriche N° 52. DISCONNECTED » White Colossus » Gros son avec la production de Stéphane Martinot, le mixing de François Maxime Boutault (Dagoba, Loudblast) et le mastering de Maor Appelbaum( Yes, Faith No More, Sepultura) pour ce très intéressant album de Disconnected.Ce groupe Français fait preuve d'audace avec des titres comme les très envoutants« Wounded Heart », » Feodora » ou les plus modernes « The Wish « , « For All Our Sakes » ou « Armageddon ».
