This event is a standard U.S. Figure Skating Nonqualifying Competition - MC 3/24/2020 The Holiday Classic Figure Skating Competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, as well as any pertinent updates that have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website.

This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and who are currently registered members of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or who is an individual member in accordance with the current rulebook. Please refer to the current rulebook for non-U.S. Citizens.

ELIGIBILITY/TEST LEVEL: Test level: Competition level is the highest test passed as of the entry deadline; in the discipline the skater is entering. Entrants may skate one level above that for which they qualify, but they may not skate down in any event.

COMPETITION REGISTRATION: All entries must be submitted online at www.borderblades.org/classic no later than 11:59pm on October 25, 2020. Entry fees are per person, U.S. dollars. For Compete USA entries, the first event is $60 second event is $25. For U.S. Figure Skating entries, the first event is $110, and each additional event is $30. Contested credit cards will be issued a $35 fee. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Competition Referee and the Competition Committee. Late entries, if accepted, will be assessed a $50.00 late fee.

REFUND POLICY: Entry fees will not be refunded after October 25, 2020 unless the event is canceled by Border Blades FSC. There will be no refunds for medical withdrawals. The online processing fees are not refundable. Contested credit card charges will be issued a $35 fee. Payment of the fee will be required before the skater is allowed to participate in practice ice or events. unless no competition exists, or the event is canceled. There will be no refunds for medical withdrawals.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS & PRACTICE ICE: The schedule will be posted on the Entryeeze website. Practice ice will be available at the Purpur Arena. A maximum of 25 skaters will be allowed on the ice during any one session. Practice ice will be available for purchase on the Entryeeze website after the competition schedule is posted. No music will be allowed during practice ice.

FACILITIES: The competition will be held at Purpur Arena 1122 7th Avenue South Grand Forks, ND 58201.

ADMISSION: Spectators’ single-day admission to the competition will be $5 for adults, $2 for children, and free admission for children under two years of age.

MUSIC SUBMISSION: Deadline to upload music is November 6, 2020. The official competition music for all Free skate, short program and artistic events must be uploaded to the Entryeeze website. Your music must meet the following criteria. If you have questions about what format your have, please contact your coach and get a new version of your music that meets the criteria listed below:

4) Leaders and trailers (the silence or "dead space" before and after the actual start and end of the program music) may not exceed two (2) seconds. We prefer that there be NO leaders or trailers at all. Excessive leaders and trailers may disrupt the playing of the music during competition.

Competitors must also bring a copy of their competition music on a digital device such as a phone or a zip/thumb drive as a backup in case of technical difficulties.

REQUIRED WAIVERS: The standard U.S. Figure Skating Waivers must be completed by all attendees at this sanctioned competition. See link for instructions: Waiver Instructions

LIABILITY: U.S. Figure Skating, Border Blades Figure Skating Club, and Purpur arena accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook.

COVID-19 STATEMENT: BBFSC anticipates additional health and safety measures for this event as suggested by USFSA and the appropriate state and federal agencies. Specific operations and safety measures continue to evolve, therefore those specific measures for the competition will be determined and communicated to all attendees closer to the event start date. JUDGING SYSTEM: The 6.0 Judging System will be used for all events.

ONSITE REGISTRATION/CHECK-IN: The Holiday Classic Competition is scheduled for November 20 & 21, 2020. Registration will be at the entrance of the Purpur Arena, 1122 7th Avenue South, Grand Forks, ND 58201 and will be open a half hour before practice ice or one hour before the first event, whichever is earlier and run through the last event of the day. Please register promptly upon arrival.

LOCKER ROOMS AND CHANGING AREAS: Locker rooms and changing areas at U.S. Figure Skating competitive events are for athletes only, will be labeled with regard to specific use and where identified will be gender specific. An exception can be made for athletes 11 years old and younger that will allow for one parent of the same sex to assist their child immediately prior to and after their skating event(s). Please review the Locker Room and Changing Area Policy and the SafeSport Handbook (both found on the U.S. Figure Skating SafeSport page).

PHOTO: Per U.S. Figure Skating policy, photographing and/or recording of anyone other than your own skater is strictly prohibited. Please refer to the Basic Ice Usage and Skater Etiquette Information document found in the Club Resource section of Member’s Only.

AWARDS: All events will be final rounds. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and ribbons to 4th place. ALL awards will be given out at the awards table after event results are posted. There will not be group photos this year.

schedule changes and/or additional information. Skaters should plan to arrive 60 minutes prior to the scheduled time of their event. A tentative schedule of events will be posted prior to the competition.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL COACHES: To be a credentialed coach at a sanctioned non qualifying competition, coaches must meet the following requirements: Coaches of U.S. Figure Skating athletes: • Current member in good standing with U.S. Figure Skating • Completed background check (green light status) • Completed SafeSport Training* • Continuing Education Requirements (CERs) • Proof of current general liability insurance with limits of $1 million per occurrence/$5 million aggregate.

Coaches of Compete USA athletes: • Learn to Skate USA Instructor membership OR U.S. Figure Skating full membership • Completed SafeSport Training* (for coaches 18 years old and over) • Completed background check (green light status) (for coaches 18 years old and over) • Learn to Skate USA Instructor Certification completed (for coaches under 18 years old)

*SafeSport training is available through http://www.usfsaonline.org for full members of U.S. Figure Skating (through Learn to Skate USA portal for instructors). There is no cost to this training and certification is valid for 1 season.

All coaches are verified through the U.S. Figure Skating database who are approved to receive a credential at the competition. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued photo I.D. to receive a credential. If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D. and is not on the list or cannot produce the necessary documents, he or she will not be allowed a credential. There can be no exceptions to this policy. COMPETITION APPAREL: Short and long sleeve t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts will be available by pre- order only. T-shirts (long and short sleeve) available in unisex sizes: Youth X-Small to YX-Large and Adult Small to 4XLarge. Hooded Sweatshirts available in sizes YS to YXL and Adult S to 4XL. Cost is $20 per t- shirt, $27 for a long sleeve t-shirt and $30 for a youth sweatshirt and $40 for an adult sweatshirt. All apparel will be handed out at the Registration Desk.

COMPETITIVE PROGRESSION THROUGH THE LEVELS OF U.S FIGURE SKATING

Singles athletes begin with Compete USA competitions. Once athletes begin the official U.S. Figure Skating test structure, they can choose to enter the Excel, Well‐Balanced or Adult levels as appropriate for their ability, test level, and age. Test requirements are the same for the Excel and Well‐Balanced levels. It is completely the choice of the athlete which track to follow; athletes may switch between tracks as best suits their development, but may not enter the same type of event in multiple tracks. Competitive level is determined by highest free skate test passed. Compete USA Snowplow Sam, Basic 1-6, Hockey 1-4, Pre-Free Skate, Free Skate 1-6, Adult 1-6, and specialty events.

EVENT: Solo Pattern Dance Note: This chart does not apply for Solo Dance Series competitions. For Series competitions, please refer to the Solo Dance Handbook.

General event parameters: 1. Levels are based upon the skaters’ highest pattern dance test passed. 2. A solo pattern dance competition event will consist of the skater performing two solo pattern dances. 3. The patterns to be skated depend upon which quarter of the year the competition is held. The skater will perform the two pattern dances listed for their level, based upon the date of the competition. If the competition falls over two quarters (for example, June 30th – July 2nd), the dance will be selected based on the start date of the competition listed in the announcement (in this example, the 2nd quarter). 4. Skaters will complete both of the dances at each level. Dances will be scheduled at the discretion of the Chief Referee for each competition and may be competed consecutively or with a break in-between pattern dances groupings.
