ELS FOR AUTISM PRO-AM RAISES $1.1 MILLION THE ANNUAL ELS FOR AUTISM PRO-AM GOLF FUNDRASIER raised $1.1 million last week. It took place in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, at the Old Palm Golf Club. Now in its tenth year, the charity has raised a total of $10 million to help children with autism, one of the most serious developmental disorders affecting children today. Els For Autism was founded by professional golfer Ernie Els and Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Cigar Aficionado and Wine Spectator magazines. The event is divided into 22 teams, each headed by pro golfers such as Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els and Nick Price. Of course, there were plenty of cigars. For more on the event, see page four.
