2021 Sponsorship Guide 2021 SPONSORSHIP GUIDE Located approximately half-way between Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne Indiana, right off Interstate 69, Gas City I-69 Speedway is one of Midwest short track racing’s little gems. Voted the 2018 “Track of the Year” by the Hoosier Auto Race Fans (HARF), the quarter-mile, semi-banked clay oval is known for its exciting wheel-to-wheel on-track action and the features some of the best intermission entertainment found at any motorsports facility in the country. With 21 events slated for 2021, Gas City I-69 Speedway features one the most diversified motorsports schedules in the country. Weekly short track racing is the grass-roots foundation for all forms of motorsports. Most drivers competing in NASCAR, Indy Car and NHRA all started at weekly race track facilities such as Gas City. In fact, four-time NASCAR Champion Jeff Gordon and NASCAR fan-favorite Kenny Wallace among the drivers who have competed at Gas City during their careers. As attendance and TV ratings for NASCAR racing have been on the decline for the past several years, the increase in interest and attendance in short track racing is on the rise. Thousands of hard-core racing enthusiasts attend weekly and strongly support the brands of companies actively involved in trackside sponsorships. Major events this season at Gas City include USAC Indiana Midget Week, USAC Indiana Sprint Week, the fourth annual James Dean Classic, plus the All Star Circuit of Champions, Night of Destruction and Fall Festival of Speed! Friday, May 28 – MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE – Non-wing sprint cars, modifieds, street stocks, hornets. Friday, June 4 – MONKEY WRENCH MANIA – Non-wing sprint cars, modifieds, street stocks, hornets, USAC SpeeD2 Midwest Thunder midgets. Friday, June 11 – USAC MIDGET WEEK – USAC NOS Energy Drink national midgets, non-wing sprint cars. (Saturday, May 5, 2012) – It’s Talladega. It’s expected. It happened to the Dodge teams Saturday in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at the 2.66-mile, high-banked track. Brad Keselowski saw his chances of winning the race end when he was involved in a 10-car mishap during the first attempt at a green-white-checkered finish. A tire going flat on the final lap was the culprit for Sam Hornish Jr. Hornish was running fourth in the No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger for the final restart. In the shuffle for position, contact with another car apparently cut the right front tire. “It wasn’t the worst day ever, but not what we wanted,” he said. “I got hit in the rear and got into the 87 (Joe Nemechek) on the restart. It cut the right front tire; it didn’t cut it down, but it started going flat. Coming off four, the tire went flat. The No. 2 (Elliott Sadler) was pushing me, which I appreciate, but at that time I didn’t need it. I was trying to get out from in front of him but the car wouldn’t turn.” Hornish finished 12th but as he slowed after taking the checkered flag, he was hit from behind by Danica Patrick and sent into the outside wall.

Therefore, in an effort to get more seats and follow social distancing protocol, we will be requiring that masks be worn not only entering and leaving the room, but also being worn the entire time while in the room. I would like to thank all of the members who donated to the Drive for Diabetes Awareness campaign which last month’s guest speakers, Brent and Lacy Kuehl, have such a passion for. Due to your generosity, we raised $529 for their cause. The Kuehls called me and said to thank all our members for their help. This month our guest speaker is Ed Rensi. He was McDonald’s CEO for 14 years and retired to pursue his dream of becoming a race team owner. He formed Team Rensi in 1992 and raced late models, dirt tracks, ARCA series and NASCAR Xfinity series. His winning drivers included Ken Schrader, Kenny Wallace and Bobby Hamilton Jr. Team Rensi won five Xfinity races and sponsored Jimmy Spencer when he won the Firecracker 400 at Daytona. Our Board of Directors are working on our Hall of Fame banquet to be held in 2022 and are looking forward to seeing you there. More exciting information will be coming.
