PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS, BAR ADMISSIONS AND EDUCATION Michael is a former director and pro bono legal counsel to the Mortgage Investment Association of BC, a provincial mortgage lenders association formed in 1917 to represent mortgage lenders in their dealings with the government and the public. The Association is comprised of over 500 active members. Its corporate membership includes all chartered banks, trust companies, life insurance companies, mortgage investment companies, credit unions as well as mortgage insurers, appraisers, law firms, accountants, environmental consultants, and mortgage brokers. Michael’s activities with this Association spanned over a period of 20 years in his efforts to improve the public perception of the mortgage lending industry and the legislative framework within which the lending industry operates. Michael has also volunteered on numerous task forces including task forces on housing co-operatives, mortgage brokers legislation and regulations, disclosure of cost of consumer credit legislation, real estate and mortgage fraud, and environmental legislation. Michael was a panel participant on The Financial Services Task Force of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy.
