Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Compton Abbas, Fontmell Magna, Hartgrove, Melbury Abbas & Ashmore TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF VARIOUS ROADS, COMPTON ABBAS, FONTMELL MAGNA, HARTGROVE, MELBURY ABBAS & ASHMORE DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Various Roads, Compton Abbas, Fontmell Magna, Hartgrove, Melbury Abbas and Ashmore as listed below: Compton Abbas (30th July 2020 until 14th August 2020) [i] French Mill Lane from the junction with Pitts Lane to the junction with A350 Cann Hill; [ii] Gascoignes Lane from both its junctions with French Mill Lane; [iii] Crockers Farm Lane in its entirety; [iv] Pitts Lane from the junction with French Mill Lane to the junction with D31107. [v] Hawkcombe Lane from the junction with A350 Main Road to the junction with C138; [vi] Unnamed Road from the junction with B3091 to the junction with Penn Hill, Bedchester; [vii] Unnamed Road from the junction with Crockers Farm Lane to the junction with Hawkcombe Lane. Melbury Abbas (6th August 2020 until 21st August 2020) [i] Foots Hill from the junction with A350 Bozley Hill to the junction with B3081 Higher Blandford Road; [ii] New Lane from the junction with B3081 Higher Blandford Road to the junction with A30 Salisbury Road; [iii] School Lane from the junction with Melbury Street to Quarry Lane; [iv] Quarry Lane from the junction West Lane to School Lane; [v] West Lane from the junction with A350 Cann Hill to the junction with Dinah's Hollow; [vi] White Pitt Lane from the junction with Melbury Street to the junction with B3081. Ashmore (7th August 2020 until 28th August 2020) [i] Unnamed Road from the junction with North Road to a point approximately 830 metres to the west; [ii] Green Lane from the junction with Noade Street; [iii] North Street from the junction with Woodley Lane to a point approximately 860 metres to the north; [iv] High Street from the junction with Fontmell Hill to Noade Street; [v] Noade Street fromm High Street to North Street; [vi] Fontmell Hill from the junction with Spread Eagle Hill to the junction with Half Penny Lane; [vii] Woodley Lane from the junction with North Streeet to a point approximately 520 metres t the west. This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway maintenance and resurfacing works. Clearways indicated by signs on site, will be imposed on each road to prevent waiting or parking on the highway or verge in these locations. Any Vehicles waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by this Notice may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations Act 1986. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 30th July 2020 and will remain in force for 18 months and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport if necessary; however, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 28th August 2020. Please note the closures will be in operation, as and when indicated by signs on site. Advanced warning signs will be placed on the road in advance of the closure to indicate the exact dates the closue will effect the road. Even though the dates above coincide, only one road will be close at any one time. Locally signed diversion routes will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.     Motcombe Neighbourhood Plan 2017 to 2027 Regulation 16 Consultation Dorset Council Response Dorset Council (DC) welcomes receipt of the submission version of the Motcombe Neighbourhood Plan. The Council is aware of the various consultation events held within the local community to identify issues and draw conclusions, and in this context seeks to provide constructive comments on the finalisation of the Plan. For ease of reference, comments are set out according to the policies of the submission version of the neighbourhood plan. Some comments may cover more than one topic and should be seen in this context. The comments made in this response should not be seen as exhaustive and the officers continue to encourage an on-going dialogue with the Neighbourhood Plan Group and the Qualifying Body. General Comments: The submission version of the Plan appropriately seeks to deal with issues of a local nature including the built and natural environment, the local economy and a proposed allocation to meet local housing needs. Detailed Comments: Page 1, Map The map misses the northern most tip of the parish boundary. Also, parts of the parish boundary are difficult to distinguish as they are drawn in blue (the same colour as the flood zone). Suggest amending the map to correct these issues. Page 13, Map Suggest showing the Gillingham Royal Forest area as this is referred to by Policy MOT5. Page 14, Policy MOT6 We suggest that the second paragraph should clarify that it only applies in cases where development requires planning permission (i.e. permitted development schemes can’t have additional requirements imposed).

The Chairman opened the meeting and welcomed all present. It has been agreed that in future there would only be one database but we will continue with two PPGs – Sturminster & Marnhull and Shaftesbury & Fontmell Magna. 2. PRACTICE UPDATE: Altogether Better- Health Champions: Debbie Martin reported on the excellent progress this is making and it is planned to extend it to Sturminster Newton. Primary Care Network: Our Network is called The Vale which is Blackmore Vale and Gillingham. Amongst several new initiatives, a Physio team will work across the surgeries with the aim - See, Assess, Treat and Discharge. Advertising is taking place for another Pharmacist to work in Nursing Homes. Interviews are taking place for a Pharmacy Technician for the Primary Care Network. Work is progressing with severe mental illness checks. The Practice is working on Complex Frailty with Population Health for people who have recently left hospital. There are now two new Social Prescribers – Ellis Ford and Genevieve Holmes. The Carers’ Surgery has been a great success and will be beginning at Shaftesbury soon. Richard Broad the Clinical Services Manager has become a partner with the Practice. 1 3. Results of the PPG Patient Survey: A Patient Survey was carried out over the summer with over 1100 responses.

    1 July 2020 Dear Parents/Carers Transfer of SAT schools to SAST on 1 July 2020 During this academic year, we have been working very closely with the trustees, headteachers and chairs of the school governing bodies of the Southern Academy Trust on its future and the proposal that their schools join SAST. The Salisbury Diocesan Board of Education and the Regional Schools’ Commissioner have supported this. More recently, we have completed all the formal consultation processes with staff. I am delighted to confirm that the Department of Education has now confirmed the transfer of the Southern Academy Trust to the Sherborne Area Schools’ Trust on 1 July 2020. Shaftesbury School (including its state boarding school), Shaftesbury CE Primary School, Motcombe CE Primary School and St Andrew’s CE Primary School in Fontmell Magna, have joined our multi-academy trust with whom they already have a close working relationship. The Southern Academy Trust organisation will be dissolved as the schools have transferred to SAST. The schools will now be officially part of our trust of 17 schools serving North and West Dorset and South Somerset, including 4 secondary schools, 13 primary schools and 3 nursery settings, providing education from 0-19 years old. Coming together provides an exciting opportunity to create a stronger and more sustainable local trust, which will enable us to provide excellent education to all students. There are already shared values with a history of partnership working, which we want to preserve and enhance. Approval of minutes of the meeting held on 14th December 2017. These were approved. 4. Matters Arising from previous meeting – the situation with regard to the cat had been resolved. 5. Vacancies – co-option/future of the Parish Council The Chairman had recently included an article in the Parish Newsletter asking for volunteers to join the Parish Council but to date no-one had come forward. A little while ago Adrian Wright expressed an interest in joining. He is not resident in the village as yet but maybe interested in joining in September. The Parish Council are supposed to have 7 Parish Council members but currently only have 4 and in October Cllr. Ryan mentioned she would like to step down. It was agreed that the Councillors all needed to try and actively recruit some more people to join the PC. In the event that more members are not recruited to join the Parish Council the Parish Council will have to seriously consider whether it is able to continue.
