News Release New Director Named to Relevant Radio® Board Of News Release For Immediate Release: November 9, 2010 Media Contact: Nancy Jensen 920-406-7338 [email protected] New Director Named to Relevant Radio® Board of Directors Green Bay, Wisconsin - The Board of Directors of Starboard Media Foundation, Inc., parent company of the national Catholic talk radio network Relevant Radio, has named Linda Ruf of Chicago, IL to the Board of Directors, effective October 22, 2010. Tom Vorpahl, Chairman of the Board, says, “I am proud to announce that the Board of Directors of Starboard Media Foundation, Inc. has unanimously elected Linda Ruf to serve as a Director. Linda has demonstrated passion for the Mission by being an active advocate of Relevant Radio. As our newest board member from our largest market, we welcome Linda’s enthusiasm for the Faith, her experience, and her willingness to participate in setting the direction of our work.” Linda Ruf was involved in the grass roots efforts to educate the public on the fallacies in the best- selling fiction book “The DaVinci Code”. Her effort grew to include talks, lectures, presentations and forums from small groups to MSNBC Hardball, Nightline, Fox News, BBC and other regional TV stations and interviews with radio stations, magazines, and newspapers. Linda was a speaker at the International Media conference for Women in Rome, Italy in 2007. She has served Catholic education as a fund raiser, school board president, treasurer, and coach. Linda currently serves as a Director for the Corporation for Social and Educational Development and the Midtown Educational Foundation. She holds a BBA in Accounting from St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. Linda says, “I am grateful for the opportunity to help further the mission of Relevant Radio. I've personally observed the tremendous impact mass media can have in forming the hearts and minds of our society. Relevant Radio helps bring faith into ordinary life. It makes learning about your faith as easy as turning on your radio. Relevant Radio plants the seeds of the ‘New Evangelization’. It is my mission as a member of the Board to make people aware of the life changing programs offered by Relevant Radio and to broaden our markets so that everyone who wants to tune in can do so.” “We’re very enthused with Linda’s appointment to the Board”, states Rev. Francis “Fr. Rocky” Hoffman, Executive Director. “Linda has a great heart for evangelization and has demonstrated great support for Catholic education and apostolic initiatives of lay people. Her energy, common sense and proven business acumen are a great asset. Personally, I am thrilled to have a well- educated, talented, avid tennis player, and mother-of-six on the board.” In addition to Ruf, Fr. Hoffman and Vorpahl, others that serve as Board Members are Michael Ariens, Mark Balasa, Steven Burke, John Cavil, John Feltl, William Raaths, and Timothy J. Wiggins. About Relevant Radio® Since 2000, Relevant Radio has been helping people bridge the gap between faith and everyday life through informative, entertaining, and interactive programming twenty-four hours per day, 2 seven days per week.
