The Houses of Westeros will Continue to Battle for the Iron Throne on HBO Miami, March 22, 2012 - Five kings vie for a single throne in the all-new season of the Golden Globe® and two-time Emmy® award-winning HBO drama series, Game of Thrones. Based on the bestselling fantasy books by George R.R. Marin, the returning mega-production chronicles the epic and deadly struggle for power among several families that has overtaken the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. HBO Latin America will premiere the second season simultaneously with the United States on April 1st. During each of the ten hour-long episodes of the show’s second season, battles will continue among the Houses in the wake of King Robert and Ned Stark’s deaths, as well as Daenerys Targaryen’ newly hatched dragon eggs. With winter fast approaching, the coveted Iron Throne in King’s Landing is occupied by the cruel young Joffrey, who is counseled by his conniving mother Cersei and his uncle, Tyrion, who has been appointed Hand of The King. But the Lannisters’ hold on the Throne is under attack on many fronts. There is Robb Stark, son of slain Lord of Winterfell Ned Stark, who seeks autonomy in the North and has taken Cersei’s brother, Jaime, prisoner in battle; Daenerys Targaryen, looking to shore up her depleted power in the East through three newborn dragons; Stannis Baratheon, brother of the late King Robert, who rejects Joffrey’s legitimacy and aligns with a powerful priestess to raise a naval attack; and Stannis’ brother Renly, who has maintained his own claim since fleeing King’s Landing. In the meantime, a new leader is rising among the wildlings outside the Wall, adding new perils for Jon Snow and the order of the Night’s Watch. Among tensions and treaties, animosity and alliances, the fate of Westeros grows more unsure. Season two of Game of Thrones promises to be a thrilling journey through a riveting, unforgettable fictional landscape. The game of thrones, ever immune to fair play, remains defined by struggle, power and deceit. With an ominous presence in the skies, many have staked their claim to the throne – but only one will rule! New cast members include Stephen Dillane (Emmy® nominated for HBO’s John Adams) as Stannis Baratheon; Carice van Houten (Valkyrie) as Melisandre, a powerful priestess and Stannis’ muse; and Liam Cunningham (Strike Back) as Davos Seaworth, a knighted Stannis ally and former smuggler. Other cast members joining the second season include: Gwendoline Christie (Brienne), Robert Pugh (Craster), Patrick Malahide (Balon Greyjoy), Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy), Kerr Logan (Matthos Seaworth), Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell) and Rose Lesie (Ygritte).
