In April, 1959, Capitol began promoting their line of new (stereo) albums with select promotional 45’s and with a line of various-artists albums called What’s New? For the first album in the What’s New series (Capitol SN-1), Capitol continued to use the same tag line, “The Full Spectrum of Sound,” that they had been using since they introduced stereo albums. However, with the second album in the set (Capitol SN-2, from June, 1959), Capitol was in the process of changing their stereo label. The front cover to the record reads “The Full Spectrum of Sound” like the previous release, but the back cover to the same album refers to Capitol’s stereo process by a new name: FULL DIMENSIONAL STEREO. Beginning with album number 1199 (listed on album SN-2), stereo albums on the Capitol label would bear that trademark. The third volume of the What’s New series (Capitol SN-3) came out in August and refers exclusively to Full Dimensional Stereo. Beginning in June, the banner running across the top of Capitol’s stereo albums reads FULL DIMENSIONAL STEREO. .
