Uno Buses Ltd and The University of Northampton Conditions of Travel 1. Uno Buses Ltd and The University of Northampton bus routes 1.1 The following routes are delivered by Uno Buses in Northampton: 18 – Sixfields Park & Ride – Rail Station – town centre (Gold St) – Waterside – Derngate Stage Dr – Rail Station – Park & Ride. 19 - Boughton Green Road Halls – Kingsthorpe – Bus Station - Waterside. 20 – Waterside – Sol Central – Avenue – Abington Square – Waterside 21 - Blackthorn – Rectory Farm – Weston Favell - Northampton Bus station. 2. Free Travel 2.1 Students and staff of the University of Northampton can travel for free on Uno Buses Northampton service 20 when the following conditions are met: A valid University of Northampton ID card is presented. Valid at all stops Monday – Friday. No weekend service at present time. (Please note: this is a limited stop service on a circular route, stopping at Waterside, Sol central, Avenue campus and Abington square only). 2.2 Students residing in the Boughton Green Road Halls are entitled to free travel on route 19 on presentation of their valid UoN bus pass from Monday to Friday. Valid at all stops Monday – Friday, full fare applies on weekends and bank Holidays. 3. Discounted Travel 3.1 Students and staff of the University of Northampton can travel for a discounted rate on Uno Buses Northampton services: 18, 19 and 21 when the following conditions are met: A valid University of Northampton ID card is presented. The journey takes places Monday – Friday (weekends are full fare). Valid at all stops Monday – Friday, full fare applies on weekends and bank Holidays. 4. Uno Bus Fares 4.1 Discounted travel rates are based on an inner zone and an outer zone system Monday - Friday: Inner zone fares - £0.50 per journey with a valid UoN ID card. Outer zone fares - £1.00 per journey with a valid UoN ID card. If no UoN ID card is present, full fare applies. Passengers can also purchase Uno 1 day, 1 week and 1-month bus travel tickets, and an Uno Group Day ticket online or from the driver. Standard public fares are applicable to all passengers (including students and staff) on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. 4.4 Route 21 services Northampton College to the town centre, a discounted fare applies Monday to Friday for the following groups: For UoN staff and students with a valid ID card a £1.00 single fare applies (falls under the outer zone). For Northampton College students with a valid Northampton College ID card a £1.20 single fare applies (discounted student rate). 4.5 Moulton college students who are registered for Moulton College travel on service 805, a full fare adult rate applies, except for those in possession of a valid 805 pre-paid Uno /Moulton pass. 5. University of Northampton Identification Cards – conditions of travel 5.1 A valid University of Northampton identity card must be shown to the driver to receive free or discounted travel, this includes: The date of expiry must not have been exceeded. The name and photo on the card must be that of the passenger producing the card. The bus driver and/or revenue inspector can refuse to give free travel if he/she is in any doubt about the identity of the passenger or the validity of the identity card produced. In special circumstances the university may issue time-bound temporary ‘bus passes’ to individual students or staff which will be equivalent to an identity card for the purposes of the holder receiving free travel. 6. Public Service Vehicle Conduct Regulations 6.1 Passengers are required to obey the Public Service Vehicle Conduct Regulations, which include the following rules: Passengers must not distract the driver whilst the vehicle is moving. Passengers must not endanger the safety of the vehicle or other passengers. Passengers must not smoke on the vehicle. Passengers must not remain on the vehicle if requested by the driver, conductor or inspector to leave. There must be reasonable grounds for requesting the passenger to leave; these could include the vehicle being full, the passenger causing a nuisance, the passenger’s condition being offensive or wearing clothing which might soil the vehicle. Passengers must not use a ticket that is defaced, has been issued to someone else, or has expired. In any of these cases, the driver may confiscate the ticket. Uno Buses Ltd and The University of Northampton Conditions of Travel August 2018 Passengers must not travel with any article that is bulky or dangerous. Passengers may be refused admission to the vehicle if accompanied by an animal, subject to the discretion of the driver (not applicable to assistance dogs). Only folding bicycles are permitted on board Uno vehicles, providing they do not present a risk to other passengers, their property or our vehicle. We encourage owners of collapsible bikes to use a bike bag to prevent sharp edges from being exposed, folding bikes in bike bags can go in to the luggage pen. Folding bicycles must not be taken upstairs on double-deckers. If the buses are very full our drivers can use their discretion as to whether there is space for the bicycle, unless it is in a bag in which case it can fit in the luggage pen. Where a driver believes that the regulations have been contravened by a passenger, the driver can demand the name and address of the passenger. The driver may also request the passenger to leave the vehicle, or may seek the assistance of the Police to achieve removal. 7.
