Liability Letter 4.15.21 Final S O U T H C A R O L I N A B U S I N E S S E S S U P P O R T P A S S A G E O F C O V I D - 1 9 L I A B I L I T Y P R O T E C T I O N S Dear Mr. Speaker and Members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, We, the undersigned employers, support the passage of S.147, the COVID-19 Liability Immunity Act. Employers in South Carolina are continuing to deal with incredible challenges during these uncertain times. As we try to rebuild our businesses and adapt to evolving public health guidance, we must also adjust to an entirely new way of operating. With these changes comes many challenges and risks, creating an enormous level of uncertainty for business. To help overcome these concerns, states have enacted COVID-19 liability protections for employers. To date, 39 states have adopted some level of protections for businesses, healthcare providers and educational institutions, including every state in the Southeast. Now, we are asking that South Carolina join the vast majority of states that are protecting employers who are attempting in good faith to follow public health guidance from the threat of unwarranted lawsuits. Senate Bill 147 will make a real difference in helping South Carolina employers regain confidence and get back on track toward reviving our economy. This legislation will help: Bring our jobs back. Keep our employees, associates, students, and customers safe and healthy. Protect our businesses from unwarranted lawsuits. We ask for your commitment to support business, healthcare providers and educational institutions in our state by voting to pass S.147 as quickly as possible. Sincerely, A & P Electric Service, Inc.
