SC Whitmore School Counselor's were busy this summer getting ready for the new school year!

Welcome to the 2020 - 2021 School Year at SCWS!

SCWS students and parents,

Welcome to the 2020-21 school year. This year marks SCWS's 10th school year and we have a lot to celebrate, including the recent news of the Post and Courier's Free Times naming SCWS as the 2020 Best Charter School. SCWS also graduated a school record of 136 students in the class of 2020. Also, SCWS teacher, Dr. Josie White, was named the 2020 SC Public Charter School District teacher of the year this past spring.

We are so excited about all of these accomplishments. With your help we can continue to make history during the 2020-21 school year. I would like to thank you for choosing to be a part of the SCWS family. Please don't hesitate to reach out to your teachers and school counselor if you ever have any questions or concerns.

Have a great school year.

-John Loveday M.Ed., M.T. Executive Director, SCWS

Meet the new School Testing Coordinator

Hey everyone, I am Patrick Bowers, your new School Testing Coordinator.

I am a native of South Carolina, born and raised in the small town of Chapin. I currently hold a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from South Carolina State University and a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Coastal Carolina University.

Before joining SCWS, I taught Special Education in Patrick Bowers 2020 - 2021 Richland One and Richland 2 school districts here in Columbia. Update on Testing If you are a returning student in your third year of high school or a newly enrolled third year student, please be sure to return your College Entrance Assessment form as soon as possible. Make sure you indicate whether you would like to take the SAT or ACT or neither. The form should have come from your counselor (newly enrolled), if not, please let me know. Also, please be mindful that for the SAT, you will have to travel to Columbia for the assessment. For the ACT, we will have locations set up in or near your city.

If you are a second or third year student, you are able to take the PSAT assessment on October 14th. By taking this assessment, it allows you to potentially earn college scholarships. Please be mindful that you must travel to Columbia for the PSAT. Click here to sign up.

Students who are enrolled in an EOC course should complete their course work and watch for updates about testing later this fall.

If you were scheduled to take the WIN assessment last spring, it has been rescheduled for the Fall. More information will come soon. Questions about any testing related topics: Contact Mr. Bowers by email at [email protected] or phone at 803.768.8313.
