The Honourable Hugh Segal is the fifth master of Massey College, at the University of Toronto, where he is a senior fellow. He is a former chair of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Special Senate Committee on anti-terrorism. He has also served as chief of staff to Prime Minister Mulroney. He is a senior strategic advisor at the Aird & Berlis LLP law firm. He graduated from the with a degree in history in 1972. His public policy focus for many years has been reforming income security in Canada with a basic income guarantee. He is an honorary captain of the , and most recently, served as Canada’s special envoy.
