1 * indicates Screw Cap closure MWC 07/08/18 Prices exclusive of VAT Bordeaux All red Bordeaux is a marriage (often a ménage à trois) of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Entry level wines with the simple Bordeaux or Bordeaux Supérieur appelations are produced throughout the Gironde département in south-western France. On the left bank of the Gironde, i.e. the Médoc and Haut-Médoc, Cabernet-Sauvignon sets the tone with wines of finesse and structure. On the right bank, notably in the St Emilion and Pomerol regions, Merlot calls the shots with wines of a more muscular and hearty style.

These are just some of the factors that the Siam Winery has to contend with in making what is nevertheless a very acceptable range of wines that is proving popular with diners in Thai restaurants.

THAILAND Siam Winery WHITE Monsoon Valley Malaga Blanc / Colombard 63.95 Monsoon Valley Colombard 75.95 The MONSOON VALLEY range of wines was developed for the RED express purpose of matching Monsoon Valley Red Pokdum / Shiraz 63.95 the hot, spicy and sweet character of Thai cuisine. Monsoon Valley Shiraz Special Reserve 75.95 This gastronomically ROSÉ unauthodox ambition has in large measure Monsoon Valley Rosé 63.95 been achieved by the Monsoon Valley Shiraz Rosé 75.95 equally unauthodox viticultural practices employed by the Siam Winery. Indigenous BEER Malaga Blanc and Chang, 5% 24 x 33cl 19.49 Pokdum grapes Singha, 5% 24 x 33cl 21.29 grown on 'floating' vineyards in the Chao Phraya Delta, near Singha, 5% 12 x 63cl 20.75 Bangkok, provide the basis of the INDIA entry level wines, to which are added Colombard and Shiraz grown in Soul Tree Wines, Nasik Valley the Hua Hin Hills to the south. WHITE & ROSÉ Nothing symbolises better the way that India is Soul Tree Sauvignon Blanc 2015 * 69.95 hurtling into the 21st century Soul Tree Chenin Blanc 2015 * 69.95 than the development of its Soul Tree Rosé 2013/5 * 69.95 wine industry. From a standing start barely 10 RED years ago, European varietals have literally taken Soul Tree Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 * 69.95 root in the Nasik Valley Soul Tree Shiraz 2013/4 * 69.95 some four hours drive north of Mumbai on the west coast. JAPAN From these the SOUL TREE RICE WINE wines are made in a most convincing modern style. We list below a comprehensive selection of the great and the good. For real value for money, however, the Champagne region offers a host of smaller firms, owned and operated literally 'from the ground up' by several generations of the same family. We focus on one such here.
