The complete match was determined by many mistakes from both players. Peach had the better start, gaining a quick 3:0 lead over Drago who tried for a long time to keep pace with Peach. The advantage of Peach was two racks minimum during the whole time of the match. At a score of 6:3, Peach had the chance to get on the hill "The Tornado" Tony Drago (MLT) but he missed a relatively easy 5-ball. Drago thanked for the invitation Foto: EPBF/AMM and ran the balls, making the score 4:6. That was one of two major mistakes from Peach. The second one he committed when he was leading 6:5. He then missed an easy 8-ball and went back to his table completely frustrated. Drago again benefitted from his mistake and tied the match at 6:6. In the 13th rack, both players were very careful and preferred to play safety shots. It was Tony Drago who won the safety battle and started pocketing balls. But he unexpectedly missed the 3-ball. However, the balls on the table were not in favour of Peach. He scratched with the cue ball when he tried to play a safety shot on the 7-ball. -

Living Legends Challenge ike Sigel and Earl Strickland, without a doubt, are “living legends”. Although both players are Hall -of-Famers, Earl has been competing and practicing regularly while Mike has only practiced for this contest. As we all know, both Earl Mand Mike like to talk to anyone who will listen and that’s what they did. Both players were mic’d and were free to express themselves without limitations. The variety of six disciplines: 8-Ball, 9-Ball, 10-Ball, Straight Pool, Banks, and One- Pocket made each player a favorite in several disciplines. As a result, it was an exceptional match that’s worth seeing again. Aramith/SimonisResults for Arena, day John1 Bender and Bill Hendrixson commentating, Sandcastle Billiards, Edison, NJ 1. The show was the chatter. Clearly Earl looked in form as Sigel struggled. Earl competes and practices regularly while Mike tried to get ready for this challenge match and it showed as Earl dominated the 8-Ball match. The 10-Ball match started out similarly, but a Strickland skid on game ball changed things including a swelling confidence from Sigel. It ended up a squeaker as Mike tied it up at 7-7 yet Earl closed it out at 8-7. Again, the player’s mic’d made it a blast. Straight Pool was the game that all thought Mike had his best chance at turning the tables on Earl. -

PRESS RELEASE EPBF Press Office Spain Open / Malaga 6. – 8. December 2008 Niels Feijen seizes the Crown of Spain! The EPBF could not have wished for a better end to 2008 after the successful anniversary EC in Willingen, Germany, now also the Dynamic-Eurotour makes history. Once again new records were broken and superlatives were reached in Malaga where the field was completely full and had a long waiting list. Good for the ones, who signed in on time and did not need to hope for a late cancellation place. Niels Feijen Starting at Thursday morning at the beautiful hotel & Casino Torrequebrada on the Costa del Sol the “Hall of Fame” of the modern times started. The reigning world champions Ralf Souquet, Niels Feijen, Daryl Peach and Darren Appleton again had a rendezvous in order to play with more than 250 participants from 36 nations for 44.000 euro prize money. The EPBF Eurotour, which is considered as the hardest tournament series of the world, found its worthy winner in Spain. The Dutchman Niels Feijen, who was able to assure the WC-title in Straight Pool in August in New York, showed world class achievements from the beginning and could also hold this all the way to the end. Only in the preliminary round Feijen failed: he lost to a strong Sandor Tot with 4:9, however this did not distract him during the remainder of the tournament and without much trouble he reached the last 32. In the Single elimination stages he eliminated Mateusz Sniegocki (9: 7), Nick van den Berg (9: 7), Daryl Peach (9: 8) and Tony Drago (9: 4) with partially embattled matches in order to meet the impressive Swede, Marcus Chamat in the final. -
