The third and final regular season installment of the Donner Pass Derby kicks off at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday inside Greater Nevada Field. Reno’s final home match of the regular season pits two playoff-bound teams against one another with Reno holding the series advantage at 2-0. The last time these two met, Reno rallied back in Sacramento thanks to Golden Boot leader Dane Kelly (18 goals this season) and Rookie of the Year candidate Chris Wehan. Both helped Reno take the regular season series and build on what will be an inevitable Top 4 finish in the Western Conference. Reno’s 73 goals are the most in the United States this year and the club, who has already locked down a home match, is 13 goals away from breaking the American record. Sacramento snuck into the USL Cup Playoffs thanks in part to Reno defeating Orange County SC this past Saturday. The club holds the eight seed in the West.
