DRAGONFORCE Ultra beatdown (Melodic Speed Metal) Année de sortie : 2008 Nombre de pistes : 8 Durée : 58' Support : CD Provenance : Acheté En seulement sept années de labeur, on ne pourra pas dire de DRAGONFORCE qu'il n'a pas fait parler de lui. Il faut êter clair ces gens-là divisent les métalleux. Il y a ceux qui trouvent que la vitesse affiché par les Anglais est digne du génie et ceux qui ne trouvent aucun intérêt à cet ersatz des poids lourds du genre, qui trace un chemin effréné à la gloire des notes jouées en moins de temps possible. Avec Ultra beatdown ces derniers vont peut être réviser leur jugement . Effectivement le torrent de solos semblent s'être calmé et Herman LI et son band ont essayé de faire entrer plus de feeling que précédemment. Les immuables sons synthétiques et overspeedés sont toujours présents mais la cascade sonique semble se canaliser petit à petit, le courant est toujours fort mais de sérieuses barrières anti-débordement ont été mises en place. Reste que Ultra beatdown est un disque plutôt agréable, accrocheur à l'oreille, clair dans ses intentions et très speed dans son approche. Les Brittons n'ont plus rien à prouver, sinon à eux-mêmes. Il n'y a pas donc de risque à dire que ce disque n'a rien de génial mais qu'il rentre dans une bonne moyenne par rapport à l'abondante discographie pour une formation qui a débuté en 2001. De même, dire que DRAGONFORCE tourne un peu en rond serait exagéré puisque ce disque est la preuve vivante des désirs d'évolution clairement démontrés pendant huit titres. Ce nouvel album de DRAGONFORCE prouve et confirme le talent de ce combo qui montre une fois de plus qu'il peut s'essayer avec succès à d'autres horizons, tout en gardant une homogénéité certaine au sein de tous ses titres. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.

I examine three significant roles – musicians, audiences, and mediators, and focus on the interaction between the localized Chinese metal scene and metal globalization. This thesis project uses multiple methods, including textual analysis, observation, surveys, and in-depth interviews. In this thesis, I illustrate an image of the Chinese metal scene, present the characteristics and the development of metal musicians, fans, and mediators in China, discuss their contributions to scene’s construction, and analyze various internal and external factors that influence the localization of metal in China. After that, I argue that the development and the localization of the metal scene in China goes through three stages, the emerging stage (1988-1996), the underground stage (1997-2005), the indie stage (2006-present), with Chinese characteristics.
