Sweden • finland • estonia • russia • lithuania • poland • denmark • germany Baltic 2014

Once the Rugged expanse of northern Europe, the Baltic region is known today for its sophistication, architecture, white nights and passion for great golf. Our journey takes us through eight fascinating countries in the region.

We begin in , a city arranged over the islands of the Stockholm Archipelago, and referred to as the city that “floats on water.” A favorite of Kalos Golf passengers, its touring highlights include the medieval Gamla Stan, the fascinating Vasa Museum and the Golden Hall of Nobel Prize renown, while golfers play at Ullna and Bro Hof Slott, two of ’s finest courses.

In addition to spectacular golf, we’ll have ample opportunity to immerse ourselves in the cultural splendor of the Baltics. A highlight will certainly be two days spent in St. Petersburg, Russia, which projects the magnificent legacy of Catherine the Great through its wonderful and unique art and architecture. We visit Catherine’s Palace, Peterhof Palace and the Church on Spilled Blood and also enjoy a special early opening at the famed Hermitage Museum.

The sophisticated, luxury vessel, Seabourn Legend serves as the perfect home away from home as we travel the Baltic Sea. Seabourn Legend is intimate enough to create a warm and friendly setting yet large enough to offer modern features not typical on smaller ships including larger staterooms, a full-service spa and an impressive fitness center. The service is first- class and the food and wine offerings are superb. Once on board, we journey effortlessly, leaving the uncertainties of land travel behind.

Regardless of how much golf your ideal vacation includes, Kalos offers daily tours that delight and enrich. Whether you are touring historic cities with experienced guides, shopping or exploring on your own or sampling Scandanavian cuisine, you will savor each day.

Memorable Golf Adventures July 22/23: Home • Stockholm, Sweden Depart your home city on July 22 for an overnight flight to Stockholm. On arrival, you are greeted and transferred to the five-star Grand Hotel Stockholm. The afternoon is at your leisure before our welcome reception this evening...... July 24: Stockholm, Sweden

Golf: Ullna, a scenic lakeside course that has hosted five European Tour events, is best defined as the heart of Swedish golf. The course, originally designed by Swedish hockey legend Sven Tumba, has recently completed a Nicklaus redesign to enhance its play. As a youngster, Jesper Parnevik developed his golf skills here while the pride of Swedish golf—Annika Sörenstam—holds the course record of 64.

Tour: Stockholm Touring passengers are treated to the many highlights of Stockholm, including the royal island of Djurgården and the medieval Gamla Stan (Old Town) with its cathedral and Royal Palace. Not to be missed is the Stadhuset, the venue for the annual Nobel Peace Prize banquet and home of the Golden Hall, decorated completely in gilded mosaic tiles...... July 25: Stockholm, Sweden

Golf: Bro Hof Slott Golf Club Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed this stadium course to offer challenging golf enhanced by impressive views of Lake Mälaren, which nearly surrounds the course. The serenity of the course is unusual given the thousands of birds that make this impressive lake home. Already touted as the country’s best golf course, it is hosting the Scandinavian Masters through 2017.

Tour: Vasa Museum Our tour visits Stockholm’s extraordinary maritime Vasa Museum. The Vasa was the world’s largest warship (226 feet) when it was built in the 1620s. After sinking on her maiden voyage in Stockholm Harbor, the Vasa was recovered in 1961 and fully restored to her original beauty. Later this afternoon, we board Seabourn Legend.

Memorable Golf Adventures ...... July 26: Mariehamn, Finland

Golf: Åland Golf Club Like the Swedes, the Finns are quite serious about their golf as we see when we play the Åland Golf Club, located on a small island equidistant from Sweden and Finland. One of four courses on this charming island, Kalos Golfers play the Castle Course, ranked among Continental Europe’s Top 100. Playing in the shadow of the medieval Kastelholm Castle we find a surprisingly good test of golf with excellent views of the Baltic. In mid-summer form, the fairways will be lined with mountain ash starting to sprout their red berries.

Tour: Åland Islands After exploring the picturesque town of Mariehamn, we continue on a scenic drive to the islands of Järsö where we learn at the Jan Karlsgården museum about 19th century farm life. The day ends with spectacular views of the Åland landscape from the fortress ruins of Bomarsund...... July 27: Tallinn, Estonia We awake to the spires and gables in the capital of Estonia and have the morning to discover Tallinn, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Having escaped the ravages of war, Tallinn is a beautifully preserved medieval town which has remained virtually unchanged for the last 600 years...... July 28: St. Petersburg, Russia We depart on a panoramic tour of St. Petersburg and visit the magnificent Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood. After lunch, we continue to the opulent summer palace and gardens at Peterhof, one of St. Petersburg’s most spectacular imperial estates, built by Peter the Great. After touring the Palace, we walk through Low Park with its alley of 22 fountains and then board a hydrofoil for the return trip to the city, up the Neva River. Arrangements can be made to attend one of the many world-renowned ballet or symphony performances this evening...... July 29: St. Petersburg, Russia We have a special early opening to tour the world-renowned Hermitage Museum, housed in the splendid Winter Palace. With over three million pieces of art, The Hermitage Museum holds one of the world’s largest and most valuable collections of fine art and artifacts, including works by the great masters of the Rennaissance: Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Giorgione, Titian and Michelangelo. Later, we visit the impressive baroque Catherine’s Palace.

Memorable Golf Adventures ...... July 30: Day at Sea Relaxing on the sun-soaked decks or getting a massage at the spa, enjoy the comforts of Seabourn Legend as we cruise toward Gotland Island...... July 31: Gotland Island, Sweden Gotland Island is known as the Sunshine Island to Northern Europeans. The popular destination of Visby includes many fortifications dating from the Middle Ages and is on the UNESCO World Heritage list of historical sites. Enjoy the Visby culture, quaint shops and cafés and see the nearly two miles of medieval limestone walls still intact...... August 1: Klaipėda, Lithuania

Golf: National Golf Resort Located in a setting that is typical of the Baltic coastal lowlands, National Golf Resort reflects flat natural areas as well as the hilly, wooded landscape. Water is prevalent on the course, with lakes and the Dané River flowing through it. The key to success at National—aim for green and stay away from blue—is easier said than done.

Tour: Klaipėda While Klaipėda’s tourism is still in its infancy, the city’s impressive history is not. Over 700 years, it has been ruled at various times by nearly every Baltic neighbor as a fortress protecting against marauders invading by sea. Now one of the country’s most important cities, Klaipėda is also a gateway for us to experience the region’s village life and Cold War history...... August 2: Gdansk, Poland

Golf: Sierra Golf Club Forbidden in Poland during the communist era, the game of golf has flourished over the past two decades, with the Sierra Golf Club boasting one of the country’s finest courses. The parkland layout of this meticulously maintained private club features stylish design and landscaping.

Tour: Gdansk We spend the day in Gdansk, the birthplace of the Solidarity movement, founded by Lech Walesa. Solidarity is widely credited with helping to end Communist rule throughout Central Europe. Our tour explores the Old Town, Long Market and Royal Road, once the path of processions for visiting kings.

Memorable Golf Adventures ...... August 3: Rønne, Denmark Today’s tour takes us through the picturesque farmlands of the tiny Baltic island of Bornholm. We travel through Almindingen, one of the largest forested areas in Denmark, to discover the charming little fishing village of Gudhjem. We visit the impressive 13th century ruins of Hammershus Castle and see the artisans at work at one of the largest glass blowing studios on the island...... August 4: Warnemünde, Germany

Golf: WINSTONgolf Site of Martin Kaymer’s German Championship in 2005, the WINSTONopen course offers spectacular views over the moraine landscape with lakes, rivers and woodland, but requires an expert putting stroke on the undulating greens.

Tour: Rostock Our walking tour of Rostock begins at the oldest university in the Baltic and continues through the consecrated gardens of the Holy Cross Convent. We then view the awe-inspiring St. Mary’s Church, the Seagull Fountain and the pink Town Hall with its seven spires...... August 5: Hamburg, Germany

Golf: Lübeck-Travemünder Golf Club We have a fitting finish to our golf on the Baltic Golf Cruise by playing in a Member-Guest Tournament at the Lübeck-Travemünder Golf Club. We pair off and join members of the club for a friendly competition at one of Germany’s most notable courses. Built in 1928, Lübeck-Travemünder offers tree-lined fairways with intermittent views of the nearby Baltic Sea. The historic clubhouse is the perfect setting for us to revel with our hosts after having made new friends on this beautiful course.

Tour: Hamburg Our tour of Germany’s wealthiest city begins in the Bavaria Quarter where we visit landmark sites, such as St. Michael’s Church and the Planten and Blomen Park. Our tour includes a cruise along the hustling and bustling Elbe riverfront, which leads to Germany’s biggest port. A founding member of the Hanseatic League, Hamburg has been an important transport hub for centuries and its vibrancy is evident everywhere we visit...... August 6: Copenhagen, Denmark • Home We bid farewell to Seabourn Legend as we disembark and transfer to Copenhagen Airport for return flights home.
