PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

2008-2009 President of the Debating Society of Amsterdam, ASDV Bonaparte (www.asdvbonaparte.nl)

I was responsible for the overall performance and growth of the society and its initiatives. This included organising and chairing weekly meetings, (international) debating tournaments, trips abroad and parties. In addition, I invited well-known speakers, for Curriculum Vitae

example the Dutch politicians Femke Halsema and , (Dutch House of Commons) to give lectures on politics and ethical questions.

2009 - now Board member Retoricakamer (www.retoricakamer.nl)

The Retoricakamer (translated: Rhetoric’s Chamber) is an initiative of professor Sutorius (criminal law) and professor Bons (Rhetoric) to attain more public interest for the art of rhetoric, both at universities as in general. My main contribution has been setting up a series of master classes in rhetoric’s, given by actors, directors and radio hosts.

2010 - now Editor and host of the radio program ‘Swammerdam, over wetenschap te Amsterdam’ on AmsterdamFM (www.amsterdamfm.nl)

Swammerdam, over wetenschap te Amsterdam (translated: Swammerdam, about science in Amsterdam) is a weekly radio program, named after the famous Dutch scientist Jan Swammerdam, about science. Every Sunday from 11:00 till 12:00 am we interview scientists about their researches.

2011 Teacher ‘Contractenrecht in perspectief’ at the University of Amsterdam

As a master student, I gave a first year course on ‘contract law in perspective’. The course concentrates on meta-judicial perspectives and stimulates students to rethink unquestioned assumptions of law.

2011 May – now Participation in a master class on research journalism at de Groene Amsterdammer

As part of a group of four, I did a four months research project on the consultancy company McKinsey & Company. This master class was an initiative of the weekly news magazine De Groene Amsterdammer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki /De_Groene_Amsterdammer) and took place under supervision of the Dutch research journalist Marcel Metze. The master class will end with a publication in the magazine.

2011 October – now PhD student Legal Theory at the University of Amsterdam

Philosophical research on the legitimacy of civic integration tests in liberal democracies. The questions that surround these tests originate from broader discussions on , immigration, identity and liberalism.

WRITING SKILLS

2007-2008 Published articles on student life in London in the Dutch weekly magazine Opinio.

April 2009 Published an article in Alibi, the journal of the faculty of law of the UvA, about the legitimacy of punishment.

November 2010 Published an article in Folia, weekly magazine of the UvA, on populism in the and different reactions on it.

November 2011 (planned) Article on McKinsey Company & Co in de Groene Amsterdammer, which will be the end result of the above mentioned master class (see professional experience).
