Is there, he wonders, a potentially significant splinter group emerging in the format driven by a core of new artists who appeal to younger, non-traditional country fans? By contrast, these are not the traditional 35+ core country fans. Thomas even has working titles for these groups: Cowboy Hats and Baseball Caps.
