Colts' Manning Poised for Most 4,000-Yard Seasons FOR USE AS DESIRED NFL-PER-16B 12/20/06 COLTS' MANNING POISED FOR MOST 4,000-YARD SEASONS When the Indianapolis Colts travel to face the Houston Texans Sunday in Reliant Stadium, Colts quarterback and AFC All-Star starter PEYTON MANNING will aim to become the first player in NFL history to pass for 4,000 yards in seven seasons. Manning (3,910) is 90 passing yards shy of the 4,000-yard mark -- a milestone he has reached in all but two of his eight seasons entering 2006. Manning is presently tied with Pro Football Hall of Famer DAN MARINO (six) for the most 4,000-yard passing seasons in a career. Pro Football Hall of Famer WARREN MOON (four) and the Green Bay Packers' BRETT FAVRE (four) are the only other quarterbacks in league history who have passed for 4,000 yards in as many as four seasons. 4=1 Following is a list of quarterback injuries for Week 16 Games: Carolina Panthers Questionable Jake Delhomme (Right Thumb) Cleveland Browns Questionable Charlie Frye (Right Wrist) Minnesota Vikings Questionable Brooks Bollinger (Left Shoulder) Atlanta Falcons Probable Michael Vick (Groin) Cincinnati Bengals Probable Carson Palmer (Right Shoulder) Miami Dolphins Probable Joey Harrington (Ankle) Minnesota Vikings Probable Tarvaris Jackson (Knee) New England Patriots Probable Tom Brady (Right Shoulder) New Orleans Saints Probable Jamie Martin (Back) New York Jets Probable Chad Pennington (Calf) Following is a list of injured players for Week 16 Games: MINNESOTA VIKINGS AT GREEN BAY PACKERS on Thursday Minnesota Vikings DOUBTFUL CB Cedric Griffin (Neck) QUESTIONABLE QB Brooks Bollinger (Left Shoulder) PROBABLE WR Travis Taylor (Ankle); TE Jeff Dugan (Knee); LB Napoleon Harris (Wrist); RB Chester Taylor (Ribs); DT Pat Williams (Knee); WR Marcus Robinson (Hip); DT Kevin Williams (Shoulder); QB Tarvaris Jackson (Knee) Listed players who did not participate in ''team'' practice: (Defined as missing any portion of 11-on-11 team work) TUES Cedric Griffin; Brooks Bollinger; Travis Taylor; Jeff Dugan; Napoleon Harris; Chester Taylor; Pat Williams; Marcus Robinson; Kevin Williams; Tarvaris Jackson WED Practice Not Conducted Green Bay Packers QUESTIONABLE LB Abdul Hodge (Shoulder); WR Ruvell Martin (Chest); T Mark Tauscher (Groin); S Atari Bigby (Hamstring); TE David Martin (Rib) PROBABLE CB Charles Woodson (Shoulder); DE Aaron Kampman (Illness); T Chad Clifton (Shoulder); WR Donald Driver (Shoulder); RB Ahman Green (Knee) Listed players who did not participate in ''team'' practice: (Defined as missing any portion of 11-on-11 team work) TUES Atari Bigby; David Martin; Charles Woodson; Aaron Kampman; Chad Clifton; Donald Driver; Ahman Green WED Walkthrough Conducted KANSAS CITY CHIEFS AT OAKLAND RAIDERS on Saturday Kansas City Chiefs OUT DE Jimmy Wilkerson (Hamstring); LB Rich Scanlon (Neck); T Kyle Turley (Shoulder) QUESTIONABLE RB Michael Bennett (Ankle) PROBABLE WR Dante' Hall (Illness); T John Welbourn (Ankle) Listed players who did not participate in ''team'' practice: (Defined as missing any portion of 11-on-11 team work) WED Jimmy Wilkerson; Rich Scanlon; Kyle Turley; Michael Bennett; Dante' Hall; John Welbourn Oakland Raiders DOUBTFUL WR Jerry Porter (Hip) QUESTIONABLE RB Zack Crockett (Heel); T Robert Gallery (Elbow); WR Randy Moss (Ankle); CB Fabian Washington (Shoulder); G Corey Hulsey (Knee) PROBABLE G Kevin Boothe (Elbow) Listed players who did not participate in ''team'' practice: (Defined as missing any portion of 11-on-11 team work) WED Practice Not Complete INDIANAPOLIS COLTS AT HOUSTON TEXANS Indianapolis Colts OUT TE Dallas Clark (Knee) QUESTIONABLE S Bob Sanders (Knee); DT Darrell Reid (Hand); CB Marlin Jackson (Shoulder); LB Gilbert Gardner (Knee); DE Dwight Freeney (Shoulder); TE Bryan Fletcher (Quadricep); CB Antoine Bethea (Shoulder); RB Joseph Addai (Ankle) Listed players who did not participate in ''team'' practice: (Defined as missing any portion of 11-on-11 team work) WED Dallas Clark; Bob Sanders; Marlin Jackson; Dwight Freeney; Bryan Fletcher; Joseph Addai; Jerome Collins (Status-TBD) Houston Texans DOUBTFUL WR Jerome Mathis (Hamstring) QUESTIONABLE DT Lional Dalton (Neck); TE Owen Daniels (Shoulder) PROBABLE DE Anthony Weaver (Knee); DE Mario Williams (Foot); S C.C. Superstitions, Cont’d. T Daniel Loper, Tennessee Puts his equipment on left to right in game order for every practice and game. QB Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Reads the game program cover to cover before every game. RB Moran Norris, San Francisco Does not walk under the cross bars before games. FB Mike Sellers, Washington Does not eat before a game, even if it’s a night game. WR Maurice Stovall, Tampa Bay Gets his hair cut every Friday and watches a Bruce Lee movie before every game. CB Charles Tillman, Chicago Has the same person stretch him and tape him. DE Jason Taylor, Miami Does everything from right to left. K Lawrence Tynes, Giants Washes his car before every home game. LB Brian Urlacher, Chicago Eats a couple of chocolate chip cookies before every game. NFL NICKNAMES “Peanut” may not be the first nickname that usually comes to mind for an NFL player, but that’s exactly the name Chicago Bears corner back CHARLES TILLMAN has gone by since childhood. But the nicknames get even more creative — Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback BYRON LEFTWICH gave his teammate MAURICE JONES-DREW the nickname “Pinball” after the way defenders bounced off the running back during training camp last year. Ranging in origin from athletic ability to size or demeanor, these nicknames give a creative insight into the players they have been given to. Here are some other interesting NFL player nicknames: PLAYER NICKNAME DERIVATION Anthony Adams, Chi. “Double A” Teammates say he moves constantly, just like the Energizer Bunny. Keith Adams, Miami “The Bullet” Runs down the field as fast as he can and zeroes in on his target.
