Applicants for bachelor's courses of studies (except for International Retail Management)

Please follow the process

 Application right to University of Applied Sciences by 15th July (term of exclusion for winter semester) or 15th January (term of exclusion for summer semester)

Application documents will be provided as of 2nd May (for the following winter semester) and 15th November (for summer semester) at www.thi.de  Studium  Application.

AND

 Application for preliminary inspection documentation (Vorprüfungsdokumentation; VPD) at uni assist e.V. if possible th st by 15 June (for commencement of studies in winter semester) or 1 December (for commencement of studies in summer semester)

AND

 Submission of the preliminary inspection documentation that you have received from uni assist e.V. in original in time no later than 27th July (for commencement of studies in winter semester) or by 15th January (for commencement of studies in summer semester)

Assessment of foreign university access qualifications (except for applicants for the bachelor's course of studies International Retail Management in English language)

Applicants who acquired their university qualification abroad need to prove that their school or previous education is sufficient to take up these studies at university.

They need to have their foreign university qualification reviewed for whether they are permitted to study any subject (general university qualification) or only specific subjects (subject-specific university qualification), and which grades they have according to the German grading system:

 Review of your documents = "preliminary inspection documentation" (Vorprüfungsdokumentation; VPD) is performed by uni-assist e.V. for the university.

 Please apply for a review of your documents by uni-assist e.V. as described. For assessment to be possible early (no later than 15th January 2016), we recommend submitting the application for VPD documents to uni-assist by 1st December 2015. It is important that you file your application before the end of the application deadline at the university (15th January 2016), since processing by uni-assist e.V takes about 4 weeks!

 Uni-assist e.V. will send the VPD for your audited documents to you by mail. Submit the original of this VPD to Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences in time.

What is Uni-assist e.V.?

Uni-assist e.V. is the working and service office for international student applicants, called “Application Services for International Students”. Uni-assist e.V. processes applications for preliminary inspection documentation (Vorprüfungsdokumentation; VPD)

for Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences for Bachelor's courses of studies (except for the Bachelor's course of studies International Retail Management in English language).

Uni-assist e.V. generates a preliminary inspection documentation for the applicants. It reviews their grade sheets and converts them to the German grade system. The VPD includes all information on whether you are allowed to study all courses of studies (general university qualification) or only specific subjects (subject-specific university qualification).

Who needs recognition by uni-assist e.V.?

Applicants for a Bachelor's course of studies (except for the Bachelor's course of studies International Retail Management in English language), who have not acquired their university qualification in or at a school with the German Abitur examination rules. This applies to applicants applying for a place in a higher study semester as well.

Who does not need recognition by uni-assist e.V.?

 All applicants for the bachelor's course of studies International Retail Management in English language. Recognition for this course is performed right by Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences and must be applied for there!

 All applicants who acquired their university qualification in Germany or their Abitur certificate at a school with the German Abitur examination rules.

 Applicants who completed a Studienkolleg programme in Germany and whose certificate indicates a total average (average of foreign proof of education and average of determination exam).

 Applicants who are/were already matriculated at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences (including preparatory courses and exchange students).

 Graduates of the European schools in Germany (International Baccalaureate (IB): These applicants submit their certificates and a recognition of the certificate recognition office for the Free State of with the calculated total grade and the "certificate on the calculation of the German average for the ZVS“.

 Applicants with AbiBac: These applicants need to submit their certificate and the "certification on the acquisition of the general university qualification" to Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences.

 Graduates of the German schools in Greece: Submit your certificate on the supplementary exam as well as the Apolitirio.

 Applicants for Master's courses of studies apply only to Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences and not to uni- assist!

How is a certificate audit by uni-assist e.V. initiated?

You need to complete the specified form "Application for preliminary inspection documentation" (Antrag auf Vorprüfungsdokumentation (VPD)) for an audit of the certificate. The form is found at http://www.thi.de/studium/bewerbung/bachelorbewerbung.html.

Which documents do I need to submit to uni-assist e.V.?

 Have an officially certified copy of your proof of education in the original language and an officially certified translation into the drawn up. The translation must be drawn up by an officially appointed and sworn translator from Germany or another German-speaking country.

 Proof of successful participation in a university entrance examination if this is required for university qualification in your home country, in the original language and officially certified copy, as well as officially certified translation into the German language. The translation must be drawn up by an officially appointed and sworn translator from Germany or another German-speaking country.

 Proof of studies performance (started university studies in the home country or the Federal Republic of Germany) for applicants who have already studied abroad, in the original language and officially certified copy, as well as officially certified translation into the German language. The translation must be drawn up by an officially appointed and sworn translator from Germany or another German-speaking country.

 Personal data sheet (illustration of education - school career)

 Copy of personal ID or passport

 Proof of a name change (e.g. copy of the marriage certificate) if the proof of education is not issued in the current name

Translations are only considered if they were produced by an officially appointed and sworn translator from Germany or another German-speaking country.

Special information for applicants from the PR China, Vietnam or Mongolia:

Applicants from the PR China, Mongolia and Vietnam first need to have their grade sheets and academic proof of performance reviewed and recognised by the Academic auditing office (Akademische Prüfstelle; APS) in their home country. The APS certificate must be submitted to uni-assist e.V. in original. Certified copies are not accepted. Without the APS certificate or the APS confirmation in original, the documents cannot be assessed!

By when do I have to apply for the preliminary inspection documentation (Vorprüfungsdokumentation; VPD)?

We recommend applying as early as possible:  By 1 June of a year (when applying for winter semester)  By 1 December of a year (when applying for summer semester)

Request the preliminary exam documentation with a complete document set including payment on time.

3 How much does recognition via uni-assist e.V. cost?

When requesting the preliminary inspection documentation, you need to transfer the fees to uni-assist e.V. (http://www.uni- assist.de/entgeltordnung.html). The audit fees for certificates are 75 Euro at the moment. Any additional application at another university currently costs 15 Euro. The conditions of uni-assist e.V. apply.

Observe that your application cannot be processed if you have not transferred the money (http://www.uni- assist.de/zahlungsoptionen.html). You can also submit a copy of the account statement or a transfer voucher with your documents.

How long does the procedure at uni-assist e.V. take?

Uni-assist e.V. usually needs about 4 weeks to process your application. Please plan on a few additional days, since questions may delay the procedure. Uni-assist e.V. will send the preliminary inspection documentation to you by mail.

How do you continue to apply to Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences?

Parallel to your application for preliminary inspection documentation of your university qualification by uni-assist e.V., apply to Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences at http://www.haw-ingolstadt.de/studium/bewerbung/bachelorbewerbung.html.

Then print the application for recognition, sign it and send it in due form and by due time (by 15 July or 15 January) with all required documents (for a precise list, also see your document check list in the scope of online application) to

Special information for foreign applicants with International Baccalaureate (IB)

At the same time, a certificate on the stipulation of the average grade must be applied for that is essential for the ranking when awarding university places.

University qualification via determination exam

If the proof of education assessed by uni-assist e.V. does not meet the requirements, the recognition is made dependent on the passing of an additional exam. These additional exams are performed by the Studienkolleg for the universityies of applied sciences of the free state of Bavaria in Coburg as determination exams (Feststellungsprüfung; FSP) for foreigners. 4 Upon recognition to the Studienkolleg, an applicant who strives for a technical course of studies can take the recognition exam in German and Mathematics at the Studienkolleg Coburg and then enter the Studienkolleg. In two semesters (1 year), the applicant will be prepared for the determination exam (German, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drafting and Informatics). Applicants who want to study Business Management also take the acceptance test exam in German and Mathematics at the Studienkolleg Coburg first and enter the Studienkolleg. For the determination exam, they are prepared in two semesters (1 year) in the subjects German, Mathematics, Business Management, Accounting, English and Informatics.

At good preparation, the Studienkolleg can be reduced to one semester or be dispensed with entirely.

After passing the determination exam, it is possible to matriculate at a Bavarian university of applied sciences. In certain courses of studies at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences, an internship is required for taking up studies. For information, see the information sheet "Information on preparatory internships“. If the internship was not performed in Germany, proof translated into German language must be submitted.

German Skills

Applicants from non-German-speaking countries with a proof of preliminary education also need to render proof of sufficient knowledge in German language.

Proof of the passed exam in German has to be submitted at matriculation at the latest.

German Skills for the bachelor's courses of studies International Retail Management and Engineering and Management

Applicants from non-German-speaking countries with a proof of preliminary education also need to render proof of sufficient knowledge in German language.

As proof only the Goethe-Zertifikat A1 of the Goethe-Institut or an equivalent proof are usually recognized.

Proof of the passed exam in German has to be submitted till the end of the first semester at the latest.
