04 Our Story

Taking inspiration from the highly entertaining obstacle game shows including MXC, Wipeout and Double Dare, the Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge fun run was created in 2011 and produced as an annual local event by VAVi Sport and Social Club in San Diego, California.

Due to its rapid growth and popularity it was time to come to Aussie shores. In partnership with Aratis Events (Australian owned and operated, the organisers of The Color Run ), it debuted in major cities including , Melbourne, and Sunshine Coast.

Ridiculous Obstacle Challenge is the fastest sold out 5k in Australia, selling over 75,000 tickets across 7 sold out events nationally. Sydney alone sold out in less than 4 hours.

In 2016, over 75,000 certified Australian ROC Stars were looking for fun, adventure and a ridiculously good time...And they were not disappointed! Our team has over 80 years of collective experience in events management, with a firm grasp on creating for joy and delivering on experience. In 2017, our ROC Stars are going to hit sky-high numbers!

Safety and participant experience are at the top of our priority list. We boast one of the most comprehensive safety plans in the obstacle racing industry. All obstacles are designed with a focus on participant safety and are rigorously maintained.
