Construction on the project began in July of 2008 and the center was completed in the spring of 2009. Up to 16 people can row in the tank, which has a unique feature that allows the coaching staff to control the speed of the water, as high as 10 knots an hour. The tank allows the coaching staff to instruct in close proximity to the rowers to help improve form and technique, especially when coaching the novice student-athletes who are new to the sport. The facility was named in honor of Cougar supporters and donors Tom and Barbara Wilson. 3 2017Record ROSTER Book 2017 Washington State Rowing Varsity Roster Name Year Height Major Hometown/Last School Ieva Adomaviciute Sr. 6-4 Business Management Kaunas, Lithuania/Gediminas Sport and Health Miranda Armstrong Jr. 5-10 Neuroscience Eagle, Idaho/Eagle HS Grace Arnis So. 5-10 Communication Olympia, Wash./Olympia High School Mihaela-Teodora Berindei Sr. 6-0 Accounting Cimpeni, Romania/Traian Lalescu Orsovo Sara Brevick So. 5-9 Elementary Education Fall City, Wash./Bellevue College Brittany Brooks Sr. 5-6 Mechanical Engineering Spanaway, Wash./Spanaway Lake HS Jess Brougham So. 5-10 Criminal Justice Wanganui, New Zealand/St. Peter’s School Ellie Burg Jr. 5-1 Psychology Bellevue, Wash./Bellevue High School Ella Cowan de Wolf Fr. 5-9 Pre-Vet/Animal Science Fairfield, Conn./Miss Porter’s School Paige Danielson So. 5-8 Electrical Engineering St. Cloud, Minn./Cathedral HS Samantha Eilers So. 5-8 Biology Royal City, Wash./Royal High School Ivy Elling Quaintance Fr. 5-9 Undeclared Sidney, British Columbia/Stelly’s Secondary School Vanessa Gonzalez-Jimenez Fr. • I ´Due´ John B. Kelly

Two separate but related events were the focus of their attention. The first of these two groups were intent upon competing in the Masters Eight event at the 2003 IRA Regatta in Camden, NJ; the second had as their goal maximizing their class’s participation in MIT’s 2003 Reunion Row a week later. I had rarely experienced anything quite like it, and I rather early on conceived the idea for two projects that will, I hope, become worthy keepsakes for all who participated in them, while at the same time benefit the Friends of MIT Crew, of which I am a Director.
