PROVISION OF DOMESTIC AND TRADE REFUSE COLLECTION SERVICES IN WOODLANDS AND SECTOR

The Ministry has selected and appointed M/S SEMAC Pte Ltd (SEMAC) as the public waste collector for the Woodlands-Yishun sector for the next five years beginning 1 Aug 2001.

2. The Woodlands-Yishun sector comprises about 158,200 households and 3,600 hawker/market stalls, shops and other trade premises. It covers parts of the , and Kreta-Ayer Tanglin GRCs as well as Nee Soon constituency and parts of and constituencies. Map showing the boundary of the sector is attached.

3. SEMAC has provided standard wheeled covered bins to all landed and trade premises in the sector. SEMAC will also be introducing a door-to-door recycling scheme for residential premises in the sector.

4. The fees levied by SEMAC for the Woodlands-Yishun Sector from 1 Aug 2001 are as follows: Fees per premises per month

(inclusive of GST)

Flats $6.88

Landed residential $17.00

Trade premises, with refuse output:

Less than 120 litres per day and $37.08 hawker/market stalls

120 to less than 240 litres per day $123.60

240 to less than 360 litres per day $175.10

360 to less than 660 litres per day $329.60

660 to less than 1100 litres per day $572.19

1100 litres per day and more a combination of fees from the above categories of trade premises according to the least number of bins required to contain the daily refuse output

5. Residents and occupiers of trade premises in the areas will be informed on the appointed waste collector and the fees for their premises through their Power Supply bills. The collection of monthly fees will be done in the same way as at present, i.e. through the monthly utility bill. The fees will be fixed and cannot be adjusted without the approval of the Ministry.
