Dreamforce Bands A Chronology TRAIN STICK WITH THE ROCK, LOSE THE COUNTRY 2006 Pretty good choice for what is typically considered the first year of DF concerts. At the time Train had not yet come out with "Marry Me" and "Drive By" so we won't penalize for those disasters and "Calling All Angels" had not yet been established as a baseball team theme song. "Drops of Jupiter" is a justifiable hit. INXS BIG HAIR - BIG HITS If you are going to have a year with '80s music, INXS is a great selection. 2007 Plenty of recognizable hits, including "Need You Tonight" (which somehow reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100) and, my favorite (if I were forced to pick one), "Don't Change" FOO FIGHTERS NIRVANA - ONLY BETTER David Grohl took everything that was revolutionary about the Nirvana sound 2008 and made it fun to listen to. Ranging from the Beatle-ish "Big Me" to the Platinum hit "Best of You" the Foo Fighters are arguably the best DF band to date (more on that in a bit). BLACK CROWES JAMMIN' SOUTHERN ROCK 2009 Recently broken up (again), the Black Crowes consistently delivered a great sound beginning with the hit cover of Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle", "Twice as Hard", and the easy to listen to "Thorn in my Pride" STEVIE WONDER MUSIC IS A WORLD WITHIN ITSELF Amazing that it has been 43 years since "Superstition" came out and almost 2010 forty years since the "Songs in the Key of Life" was released. I wish those days would come back once more.... May be showing my age, but Stevie gets my nod as the #1 Dreamforce artist. METALLICA NAPSTER KILLER 2011 Going to take some flak on this one for sure. I heard Metallica was influenced by Led Zeppelin; I don't see how. Commercially successful, Hall of Fame inductees and recognized DF favorite by many others makes me leave it up to them to explain the appeal. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS PUNK FUNK ROCK 2012 Similar to the aforementioned 2011 band, RHCP are also members of the Rock & Roll Hall of fame. Unlike Metallica, you can really listen to Red Hot's unique style for hours. While trying to stay away from the event itself, it's difficult to not mention the venue and light show at City Hall were absolutely awesome. GREEN DAY ONLY BAND W/ GRAMMY & TONY AWARDS 2013 We NEED to stay away from the event here (Google it). While running into some recent controversy and becoming the band "true punkers" love to hate, it is impossible to deny the enjoyment we all got from listening to early hits like "Longview" and "When I Come Around" and later material like "American Idiot" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". CAKE WHY NOT? 2014 Who can't like a song like "Sheep go to Heaven (Goats go to Hell)"? Ok, I know there was some guy named "Bruno" playing outside, but I honestly spent most of my time inside listening to John McCrea and team. Forever known to me as the "unfortunate year". FOO FIGHTERS THEY'RE BACK! 2015 Since their appearance in 2008, the Foo Fighters have continued to deliver, including a great album in 2011 "Wasting Light". Looking forward to the show!
