Dear Families,

Broadband Connectivity at Home

During this time of home learning the access to the internet is essential for all pupils. To help families without broadband connectivity at home the Welsh Government launched a scheme to support some pupils to have increased data via their mobile telephone operator and as a school we have been asked to share this information with you.

The scheme is in conjunction with the main UK mobile network operators, namely BT, EE, Three, O2, Vodaphone and Smarty.

If successful, the data allowance will be increased to allow pupils to access online educational resources until the 31st July 2021.

There are specific conditions for each of the operators:

BT Mobile/EE Uplifts are available to both pay as you go and monthly contract customers. Families must have been a customer for at least 3 months. Data allowance to be uplift to unlimited data.

Three and SMARTY Uplifts are available to both pay as you go and monthly contract customers. Data allowance to be uplift to unlimited data.

Vodaphone Uplifts are available to both pay as you go and monthly contract customers. However, pay as you go customers will need to make a minimum £10 monthly contract. Families must have been a customer for at least 3 months. Data allowance to be uplift to unlimited data.

O2 Uplifts are available to both pay as you go and monthly contract customers. Families must have been a customer for at least 6 months. Data allowance to be uplift to 40GB of data.

If you are eligible and wish to apply for the offer please complete the Microsoft form that will be sent via text by Friday 5th March. Please read the privacy notice below how your details will be used.

PRIVACY STATEMENT

In order to comply with data protection legislation, I need to let you know that the Welsh Government is facilitating a Mobile Data Uplifts for Digitally Excluded Learners scheme through schools and local authorities.

If you wish to participate in the scheme and are the account holder, the school will share your [name, mobile phone number and mobile network operator details (including whether you are on a pay-as you-go or pay-monthly contract) with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council who will provide the details to the Welsh Government through the secure Hwb portal. The Welsh Government will then securely share these details with the relevant mobile network operator.

The mobile network operator will use that information to increase the data available for the account holder's mobile device, so long as the account holder qualifies for the scheme. This is on a time- limited basis, currently until 31 July 2021. The mobile network operator will handle your personal information in accordance with their own privacy policy and procedures.

The account holder's personal information is only shared with the mobile network operator for the purposes of the scheme. Personal information of other individuals, such as children or other adults, other than the adult account holder, are not collected or shared with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, the Welsh Government or the mobile network operator.

If you do not want to participate in the scheme, the school will not share your personal information with anyone else.
