NHL Ties & Bloodlines 2021 DRAFT PROSPECTS: NHL TIES AND BLOODLINES McTavish, Mason His father, Dale, played nine games for the Flames in the 1996-97 No. 2-ranked N.A. Skater season (1-2—3 in 9 GP) and played 14 seasons of professional hockey overseas with stops in Finland and Switzerland. Raty, Aatu His brother, Aku, was a fifth-round pick by the Coyotes in the 2019 No. 3-ranked ITL Skater NHL Draft (151st overall) who skated for Karpat in the Finnish Elite League in 2020-21 (4-3—7 in 36 GP). Hughes, Luke Has two brothers who were recent first-round picks in the NHL Draft: No. 4-ranked N.A. Skater Quinn (No. 7 in 2018 w/ VAN) and Jack (No. 1 in 2019 w/ NJD). His mother, Ellen, played soccer, lacrosse and ice hockey at the University of New Hampshire and is a former member of the U.S. Women’s National Hockey Team. His father, Jim, was a member of the U.S. Selects team that won the 1988 Spengler Cup and has held a number of coaching and player development positions in the NCAA, IHL, AHL and NHL. Lindbom, Carl His brother, Olof, is also a goaltender who was a second-round pick No. 5-ranked ITL Goaltender by the Rangers in 2018 (39th overall) and played for Mora in Sweden’s second division in 2020-21. Korhonen, Rasmus His father, Markus, is a former Blackhawks scout who tended goal for No. 7-ranked ITL Goaltender over a decade in professional leagues across Europe and is the current goaltending coach for Ilves in Finland’s top professional league. Serhyenko, Carter His cousin, Ryan Bayda, was a third-round pick by the Hurricanes in No. 9-ranked N.A. Dach, Colton His brother, Kirby, was a first-round selection by the Blackhawks in No. 19-ranked N.A. Skater 2019 (No. 3 overall) and recorded 2-8—10 in 18 games with Chicago in 2020-21. Huckins, Cole His uncle, Jim Malone, was a first-round pick by the Rangers in the No. 48-ranked N.A. Skater 1980 NHL Draft (14th overall) and his uncle, Greg Malone, was a second-round pick by the Penguins in 1976 (19th overall) who appeared in 704 regular-season games with the Penguins, Whalers and Nordiques. Blake, Jackson His father, Jason, was an undrafted forward who played in 871 career No. 52-ranked N.A. Skater regular-season games with the Kings, Islanders, Maple Leafs and Ducks and was the recipient of the 2007-08 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy after battling a leukemia diagnosis without missing a single game. Savage, Redmond His father, Brian, was an eighth-round pick by the Canadiens in 1991 No. 54-ranked N.A. Skater (171st overall) who skated in 674 career regular-season games with the Canadiens, Coyotes, Blues and Flyers. The Aurora native helped Team Canada take the gold medal on Sunday in the 2017 Spengler Cup, the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world, hosted annually in Davos, Switzerland. After helping Canada to win their first preliminary round matchup with Mountfield HK 5 ? 3, Sikura earned his first point in game two against the host team HC Davos, setting up Andrew Ebbett to tie the game at one in the second period. Beating a tough Davos squad 4 ? 1, the Canadians went on to meet Mountfield once more in the tournament semifinals, winning 5 ? 2 to set up a New Year's Eve final against Team Switzerland. A 3 ? 0 shutout of the Swiss earned Team Canada their third straight Spengler Cup. The trophy is presented annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. Stalock, 32 (7/28/87), posted a 20-11-4 record with a 2.67 goals-against average (GAA), a .910 save percentage (SV%) and four shutouts in 38 games played (36 starts) and became the fifth goaltender in franchise history to record 20 wins in a season. He set career highs in games played, games started, wins, shutouts (ranked T-5th in the NHL), minutes played (2,177), shots against (1,082) and saves (985). Per NHL Stats, the six-foot, 200-pound native of Saint Paul, Minn., is the seventh different Minnesota-born goalie to reach 20-plus wins in a single season. Stalock tied his career best making seven consecutive starts from Feb. 25-March 7, made a season-high 40 saves at San Jose on March 5 and recorded a career-high, four-game win streak Feb. 21-28. The left-glove netminder registered a 26-save shutout in his first start of the season on Oct. 14 at Ottawa, the second time in his career he recorded a shutout in his first start of a single season and became the fourth Minnesota-born goalie in NHL history to do so.
