WHERE TO GO Night Sky Information Take advantage of the opportunities in Yosemite to view the wonders of the night sky. Here are some sights to look for while you are out during the nighttime hours. September 9 Mercury can be seen very low in the eastern sky before dawn. To find Mercury, look for the Moon, Saturn and a very bright Venus. All three planets form a vertical curve high in the east, and Mercury will be far below these planets, a bit to the left. September 12 At dawn, Venus can be spotted in the east, with Saturn appearing faintly above. To Venus' lower left is the waning General Park crescent Moon, and below the Moon is Mercury. September 19 A crescent Moon will become visible this evening Information just after twilight among the constellation Scorpius. September 22 Autumnal Equinox (first day of autumn). September 28 The Full Harvest Moon rises tonight at 7:17pm.
